You are SO welcome and I love doing what I do for you guys so I’m gonna keep on doing it, you all give me back so much more than I put into it ❤

(As always, my answers are only my own opinion, and I’m so touched that you want them!)

Lestat, you’re very vocal about your emotions and you feel them very strongly. If it were at all possible, would you consider taking medication to help with your depression; Your high highs and low lows could be managed and help you function a bit better. (I take meds to help myself, and so do many others. Please don’t take offense.) I send my love!

♛I bare my soul to you so thoroughly and so often for so very long and you want to put me on medication *sigh*

[X] My initial reaction is offense, you’re right about that, but I know you meant it in good faith. Perhaps it’s because Armand has suggested it so many times as an insult, and I detest that there’s a connotation that anyone “on pills” or “seeing a shrink” is somehow lesser for doing these things. Who the f&ck decided that wearing glasses to improve one’s vision was acceptable but needing extra chemicals to improve one’s brain functions was somehow an indication of being some kind of, I don’t know, freak of nature?! Oh right, wearing glasses will get you bullied, too *tosses up hands*

Here’s the thing that I maybe failed to convey to you or that some of you chose to misread.

I grew up with neglect and physical abuse on a regular basis. Directly proportional to any time I wanted to strike out and try to find what any child craves – affection, love, support. I had so little of those things. I starved for them. Do you know what it’s like to have to sit at the dinner table and be polite to someone sitting at the head of the table who less than an hour ago beat you to the ground, your face on the cold stone floor, and ridiculed you for crying about it? You’re wearing bruises from it, you have some bandages, you taste your own blood in your mouth from your split lip with each bite of the food that YOU brought home to this person? Trying not to shake or cry. This person who asks you to play chess with him after dinner as if nothing happened?

this is one perfect, powerful, gut wrenching introspection on the character and thank the Gods for Coven Leaders like @i-want-my-iwtv for being here and giving us posts like this one.

<3!

Bonne anniversaire, mon Prince. Je te souhaite une nuit de rêve. Or as they say here in the homeland: La multi ani!

Ce fut une nuit merveilleuse, et je suis chanceux d’avoir tous tant de gens qui me aiment!

Many thanks for your warm wishes ❤

Hello there :) I was scrolling through the Nicolas de Lenfent tag and I read again a post with theories :3 With PL we now know the identity of the mysterious musician but I wonder – ok hope, keep fingers crossed – might Anne in all her wisdom broach the subject of Nicolas and maybe, just maybe bring him back in cannon? At this point, I think he would make for some interesting plot for the next books. If Antoine showed, we might still hope Nicolas is somewhere out there.

[Pretty sure @ioananix is referring to the post @devilsviolinist wrote on Nicki survival theories here. It’s good! Check it out.]

Yep, AR has brought back a bunch of formerly-assumed-to-be-dead characters in PL, so it’s a real possibility!

…However, is this always a good thing? I still don’t like the way the mysterious musician from IWTV was brought back. @antoineandthepiano makes a valiant effort to make that character more likable in their RP of him, but in canon, I don’t feel like this character being brought back adds much to the story or changes the dynamic of the coven much. More thoughts on him under the cut bc I want to get to Nicolas.

Bring Nicolas back and we might have interesting plot there! So many questions… Did he really intend to kill himself?

Did he intend to fake his suicide? Or did someone try to kill him? Did Eleni know? Was she in on any of this? Is there any possibility of civility between Nicolas and Lestat? The answers to those questions could lead to some great arguments, some great opening of old wounds, some healing, idk, ACTION. FEELS. CATFIGHTS.

There are a bunch of characters brought back in PL so it wouldn’t totally surprise me if AR brought Nicolas back in PLROA… The ones she’s brought back have hardly caused any ripple of conflict in the coven, and some ppl like fluff and peace, maybe some ppl are glad to have their characters back in any form, but it feels like unearned fluff and peace. I’d almost prefer that she leaves characters out rather than bring back such watered-down versions of them.

I feel like that musician character was a draft of Nicolas, and AR forgot about him until PL, or maybe Lestat was so embarrassed by that whole situation that’s why he never mentions him in canon until PL (which, btw, the series was allegedly over with Blood Canticle). “Antoine” comes in all meek and mild, is accepted with hardly any comment, and everything’s peaceful! There’s no real adjustment needed, they’re all fine with the fact that, idk, he tried to kill Louis (and Claudia!) some 150 yrs ago? Too much water under that bridge.

There was a fanfic that suggested the musician vampire rescued Lestat from the swamp and helped him heal well enough so that he could to steal the Dark Gift from him, that would have been a lot more heartbreaking! Taking advantage of Lestat in his weakened condition like that ;A;

I was cruising around and stumbled on the face of Michael Sutton, an actor who played Radu in the TV movie “Dracula The Dark Prince”. now in my head as soon as I saw his face, Santino popped in my head. There’s a tie between him and François Arnaud in my little version of casting the VC characters – some days François Arnaud works a little bit for Nicolas as well :3

François Arnaud is good Nicolas stuff. I’m gonna have to watch the Borgias now, right? Yeah. Bonus points:

  • Canadian, but born in Quebec, where French is the official language, so I’d say he’s got authentic enough French heritage (and he speaks English, French and Spanish fluently!)
  • Can sing and play the piano so he must be able to read sheet music LET’S PUT A VIOLIN IN HIS HANDS
  • 6’ 0¾" (1.85 m) tall :D, Lestat is about the same, which is important, bc they share clothes in Paris ❤
  • 31 yrs old but can still pass for his early 20′s.
  • Looks damn fine in period costume

(Re: Michael Sutton, can you find me a good gif or two? I’m having trouble getting one bc there are alot of Michael Suttons out there or smtg.)

I don’t have a gif for Michael Sutton but here are a couple of photos from Dracula The Dark Prince were he played the character Radu, Vlad Tepes brother.

Now, Michael – look wise – has the dark and brooding look of Santino (back in the days when this TV movie premiered, I pinned him for Santino, his age might be a problem now, he’s 46 but can pass for a 35 years old man and since news of a VC script are harder to get than water the Gobi dessert, this will remain as a wishful cast on my side).

But…as I was cruising for photos, I stumbled on an old fancy of mine…Todd Lasance – Caesar in Spartacus War of the Damned and Julian in The Vampire Diaries.

Blond, blue eyes, 33 years old, could pass for late 20s.

at first, I pinned him for Lestat but something wasn’t quite there for a full Lestatish experience. Then I kinda saw Marius – Caesar, the whole Roman look. He can act vicious, he can be cute, he can do drama and he can make men and women swoon.

And, bless you for being here I-Want-My-IWTV!

Well, you make a lot of excellent points, I can’t really argue! As far as the age thing is concerned, idk how hold Santino is meant to appear, but erring on the side of older rather than younger works for me; he’s meant to be somewhat imposing and scary, at least initially.

Thanks for the followup, and merci for the compliment ^u^

I read a while ago about some scenes filmed in IWTV but not ending out in the final cut as we all saw it. Is there any chance under the moon and stars for us to see these scenes? In the anniversary blu-ray, I’ve heard there is a new documentary but no news on deleted/extended scenes from the movie on this blu-ray.

It is criminal that we don’t have the cut/extended scenes or new features after TWENTY (20) YEARS. Fortunately, Neil Jordan is very aware that we want these and hopefully he’ll do smtg about it.

Officially, as far as I know, there are no cut/extended scenes on any edition of IWTV *cries forever,* but allegedly there’s a new vid on the 20th Anniversary Blu-Ray: “Lestat, Louis, and the Vampire Phenomenon: A conversation with author Anne Rice about her influence on the new wave of vampires as heroes and anti-heroes.” but that isn’t a cut scene so like whatever idec.

AS FOR CUT SCENES, OUTTAKES, ALTERNATE SHOTS, BLOOPERS, ETC., ALL WE HAVE ARE SCRAPS FROM THE TRAILER LIKE THIS ONE:

^YES LOUIS I KNOW I FEEL YOUR PAIN RE: THE CUT SCENES.

We know there were other scenes in the script (do the google, it’s easy to find, and very entertaining!), at least one of which was storyboarded partially.

I console myself w/ production stills and behind the scenes gems that I find *still cries forever* but SOMEONE OUT THERE HAS THAT FOOTAGE. (Guessing it’s Mick Audsley & Joke van Wijk, the editors).

Dear sweet baby Jesus! where was this blog all my life? Bless you, I love you, I barely stumbled last night on your blog. Again, I’m going to sound like a cray-cray but with so few and scattered blogs and news about the Vampire Chronicles you’re like my ray of sunshine in the middle of a dark and endless night. And I found so many posts, reblogs, opinions, IC material on Nicolas <3 I don't have any question for now, I'm just happy to have found this blog!

Awwww thank u so much! What a lovely poetic thing to tell me ❤

I try to make this thing what I would have wanted to find when I was 15 and couldn’t find the fanworks, the good screencaps, the whole fandom experience. Notes like yours let me know the mission is being accomplished ;]

A Nicolas lover, hm? YOU ARE JUST IN TIME for my latest VC casting choice for him, and other ppl might not agree but whatever: Benedict Samuel was so great in The Walking Dead mid-season premiere this past wknd, he’s so Nicki!

Hit the jump for a little moar re: Benedict Samuel.

He has everything I’m looking for in a Nicolas: the right age, brooding, sassyness, vulnerability, big loving eyes, cruel and sweet humor, and he can phase between all these so quickly. The acting seems to come from a deep understanding of his character’s motivations and emotional turbulence, waves overlapping the emotional palette.

Which can’t all be captured in one gif, especially from the limited gif options out there. So here’s one in which he’s obviously holding back from doing smtg, holding back the cynical comment that could destroy a room, hiding his vast darkness from whoever’s in a 5 mile radius. Getting dressed to go against his will present the Marquis’ son w/ new boots and the red velvet cloak as payment for ridding their town of the wolf pack that was threatening everyone.

image

This shot below is from The Walking Dead, but it also looks like that one time Lestat used telekinesis on Nicki in TVL, slamming him into the wall with an invisible fist, neither of them knowing what he’d done, or how it happened, in their old dressing room at Renaud’s, soon to be the Theatre des Vampires.

The only real question is, can he play violin? Can he learn?
