I really want to know your stance on the musical – I personally love the score, but think that the book and production value tore it apart.
^fanart by @garama, who must have seen it live or the video of it, and has drawn fanart based on the musical, so he must have liked it! This is one of my all-time fave fanarts of Nicki/Lestat ❤ i just want to buy a whole graphic novel in this beautiful heartfelt style is that so much to ask *cries*
Some ppl loved Lestat the Musical, and more power to them! I am jealous of them. IDK if you saw the SF version or NYC version, live or video of it, but I saw the NYC version live and I did not like it. I partially blame the NYC producers for that, bc they apparently stripped out alot of the flair and gay stuff, maybe they were afraid it was pushing the envelope too far? But isn’t that what theatre is supposed to do? *sigh*

Sadly, I mostly feel second-hand embarrassment for Lestat the Musical bc I made the mistake of inviting my cousin to go w/ me. She was not in the fandom, and she was uncomfortable the whole time *facepalm* Idk I thought she’d be into it, but the NYC version we saw was stripped so bare, and there was little to engage with. I can’t even listen to the soundtrack! It just brings me back to how disappointed I was in the bareness of the production, at the whole audience’s lack of enthusiasm… much cry, very sad.
So I have to be cautiously optimistic about the adaptation in the works and hope that they considered Lestat the Musical and can avoid its pitfalls.

Based off of the Le Mort Joyeux plot, in which Louis and Nicolas meet in 1970s San Francisco.
Louis’ hand followed the wooden banister as he ascended the steps behind the other vampire. He moved slowly, reaching the third floor a few paces after this “Nicolas.” He could hear music playing in an occupied apartment down the hall, a recording of The Beatle’s Hey Jude. It smelled of incense here too; bohemian indeed.
“Take me to heaven or hell.” They were the first words he’d spoken since they’d left the bridge.

The other man’s voice had a soft, beautiful cadence to it, slipping into Nicolas’ ears like a secret. He turned around to face him, his face gentle, playfully inquisitive. He stepped forward, closing the distance between them, breathing in the vampire’s scent, the sound and smell of the blood pumping underneath his flesh. casting#lee soo hyuk#arjun (via @ i-want-my-iwtv ) I know Nikki was French, and very little of Asia/Russia was interacting with France in the time when Nikki’s family would have been established, so odds of him looking like this are slim to say the least, but look at that face and tell me that wise-sad expression isn’t Nikki.
It is very hard to disagree with such a compelling argument… I’d screentest him! I would bet that many narrow-minded ppl would strenuously object, but I’ve resigned myself to the fact that there is no pleasing EVERYONE. I’d rather have a great actor than someone who just “looked” right, but that’s just my own preference. But then again, there are some actors who are too far from my headcanon for me to be very supportive of them so I’m a little bit of a hypocrite on that, I admit it… I declare: “Don’t be so judgmental/superficial!” 1 second later: *acts judgmental/superficial*
It might be a fun challenge to do a casting w/ all the races changed. I have a #raceswapped tag but it’s pretty barren atm. Anyone is welcome to reblog this and make suggestions, and include pics!
The reason I love Only Lovers Left Alive is it shows that a character (Adam) can be severely mentally ill, in this case depressed and suicidal, and still be seen as lovable and capable of being loved and loving in return without being “cured” of their mental illness, and that a mentally ill character can have other attributes aside from being mentally ill while still showing the impact being mentally ill has on his personality.
Adam from OLLA is an extremely important character to me you guys.
Do you think Sebastian Stan could play a convincing Louis? Speaking for purely acting capabilities.
Y’know, I’ve seen him in the MCU movies and not a lot else, so when I googled him I was pleasantly surprised to find the gifs below.
But before we get to Stan, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so if he works for you, that’s totes fine!
For meeeee, however… I’m not sure about him playing Louis bc my heart is pretty set on someone I would consider more sinewy, like Miles McMillan (BTW he paints, sometimes does amazing self-portraits! Check out @fuckyeahmilesmcmillan, there are nude pics of him there, too *u*), someone w/ a more narrow face shape w/ these defined cheekbones that are almost feminine:
^Lestat forced him to replace his decaying sweater w/ a jacket to go out but couldn’t get him to put on a t-shirt first.
Whoever they cast as Louis should bear some resemblance to whoever they cast as Nicolas, bc they are described as being similar in appearance (and attitude to some extent!), but I would imagine Louis as being slimmer and more delicate-looking, since he was in pretty bad physical shape when Lestat found him, a combination of malnourishment and excessive alcohol and picking fights w/ whoever would fight him ;A;
^Plus, his sass is a more gentlemanly brand, he has a dignified way of shooting Lestat down.
Stan is built more sturdy, his facial structure is a little wider, seems more like Nicolas in my mind. And I think he’s played non-straight characters before so I think he’d be willing to do that here, too ^_______^
Difficulty: I bet he is SO FRICKIN EXPENSIVE NOW like damn! ANYWAY LETS FANTASIZE…
