♛My first impression of Sybelle was her waking me from my slumber with her passionate renditions of the Appassionata. I might have awoken then without it, but I can’t help but feel that her music was necessary; it pulled me, those fierce notes the only thing that penetrated the thick darkness where I was. I still ask her to play it now and then, and it reminds me of that rescue, whether intentional or not on her part.

I have not had the pleasure to get to know Sybelle as much as I’d like to. She is not much for conversation. She’ll converse with music, and I have played duets with her, on guitar along with her.
Eccentric… Who’s not eccentric in our coven? *laughs* Who’s not misunderstood? I will say that she’s not as concerned by her surroundings as you might think she would be, she likes it when Armand or Benji tie her hair back for her, even though she is capable of doing so herself. She seems to carry an old soul and a child’s enthusiasm at the same time; she can be thrilled by little things like playing Tetris on an old Gameboy, and yet, she asks for very little outside of her piano, and her privacy. She has few possessions… keeps her jewelry in plastic bags in a shoe box! Benji’s idea, as the necklaces would tangle otherwise.
I am learning more about Sybelle with every interaction. One thing is for sure, she makes a fine addition to our coven, and I am glad to have her with us.
[^//ooc: Just try and tell me that Valentina Lisitsa isn’t basically Sybelle, just look at her! She’s just older.]
//ooc: So, Sybelle! A rare one for ppl to ask about and rarely chosen for RP. I remember there was @sybelle-the-appassionata, but it looks like they’re pword protected and/or on hiatus. There was also @play-the-appassionata, looks inactive now, but their archive might have smtg for you! Antoine RPer @antoineandthepiano may have thoughts re: Sybelle for you.
For more on Sybelle, try my #sybelle and #the vampire sybelle tags. There’s a little fanart, cosplay, some meta by other ppl, some mentions of Benji (since he’s kind of part of her package deal!) and spoilers.
((When I was 11, I wrote a terrible short fanfic from the POV of a vampire dog which Lestat had turned as an experiment. I don’t remember anything about it except that the dog was pretty happy as a vampire dog… it’s lost to time and space forever. Just thought that might amuse you!))
IDK about vampire animals in other media, I’m sure someone has done it, but IIRC, they’re not in VC canon at all. I don’t know if AR has considered it, with all the implications that follow. Could the world survive packs of vampire dogs and cats? Herds of vampire horses?
Vampire
Lions?
Vampire
Tigers?
Vampire
Bears? Oh my…. Could a vampire chimpanzee (or rat!) turn a human into a vampire? Would it matter if the animal was a herbivore or would it have to be an omnivore, like humans are? If the vampire lab in PL is still running, maybe they’re experimenting on animals. #FIC REQUEST.
In some religions, animals are considered not to have souls at all, or that they lack the same type of soul that humans have. in VC, the soul seems to be a crucial element in anchoring the vampiric spirit to its host body during Dark Gift transfer.
Also, just physiologically, not all infectious diseases are transmittable between animals and humans. For example, humans cannot get Feline AIDS and feline leukemia virus (FeLV) from cats [animalplanet.com].
Zoonotic diseases: diseases transmitted from animals to humans through media such as air (like influenza) or through bites and saliva (like rabies).
I headcanon that vampirism is not a reverse zoonotic disease.

Recycling this from a previous answer; It’s funny you mention vampire animals bc the question was raised, when old age finally started to rear its ugly head for Mojo…
Lestat: What if we could heal him with-
Louis: NO Lestat. No.
Lestat: Just an experiment to-
Louis: We’re not making a vampire dog that’s a crime against nature we have to draw the line somewhere.
Lestat: *pouts*
Louis: *glares*
Lestat: *pouts harder*
Louis: *glares harder*
Lestat: Ok confession time: I already tried to give him a few drops of blood and he was not at all interested. Repulsed really.
Louis: *ragged sigh*
Lestat: It was worth a try!
Louis: Then why were you even asking me?
Lestat: I thought he might prefer yours–
Louis: *slaps Lestat hard across the face and storms out*
I remember hearing about (but not reading) Bunnicula, “a children’s book series written by James Howe, featuring a vampire rabbit that sucks the juice out of vegetables,” but I know that’s not quiiiiite what you were looking for, lol.

^Lookit the widdle fangs! Bunnicula even has the classic “widow’s peak” hairline in their fur like Dracula *u* and a “cape” in the fur?? I think it’s been adapted to an animated series, too.
Other quotes I found about animal-human disease transmission:
Also relevant is zombie animals. In The Walking Dead, there are no zombie animals, and I found a forum where ppl were discussing it (walkingdeadforums.com), whether it’s true that the original comic artist set the canon for that bc he “does not enjoy drawing animals so much,” or whether there might be a scientific reason for it…. Zombie animals are as equally debatable as vampire animals!

Hello to you! Here’s one of my fave portrait-claims yes I invented that word just now of Paul:

[by Philip Alexius de Laszlo, Portrait of Raymond P. Johnson-Ferguson, 1923]
Paul is in fact mentioned by name in IWTV, but it’s only 3 times, and the first time is on page 26 (US Ballantine edition):
“I could almost make out the images of the saints on the walls. `Paul,’ I said softly, addressing my brother, `for the first time in my life I feel nothing for you,…” – Louis de Pointe du Lac, IWTV
…so if you were skimming a physical copy, it would in fact be hard to find the mentions at all! I have digital copies of all the books, makes for easier searching ;]
The first time Paul is mentioned, it isn’t by name at all, on the 2nd page. Paul was a big deal for Louis and he has to bring it up immediately.
“There was a tragedy … “ the vampire started. “It was my younger brother … He died.” – Louis de Pointe du Lac, IWTV
Would Louis have been in such a crappy state and basically trying to drink himself to death, shouting “COME FIGHT ME BRO” at everyone in the shittiest taverns of NOLA if not for his guilt over Paul? Would he still have met Lestat at some fancy ball? WHO KNOWS.
