3. Don’t preach your headcanon as some universal truth.
4. All the three above apply to readers as well, not only rpers, of course.
Please don’t get upset if/when someone disagrees w/ your interpretation, just remember it’s about fictional characters, and not a personal attack. Even if the facts are from canon itself, some ppl may choose not to recognize some canon facts.
I can’t explain all those relationships! Even the characters involved couldn’t explain them. They’re a big ol pile of dysfunctional hipster vampires and their ships are a hot mess.
BUT I SHALL TRY. Nobody attack this please, I’m grossly over-simplifying for the sake of this one Anon’s overwhelmtion ;] #your headcanon may vary, #ship and let ship.
At their most basic:
Lestat/Louis – Murder husbands, OTP, 5ever
Lestat & Marius – not a pairing, but there’s definitely a mutual respect and caring in a paternal sorta way.
Lestat & Armand – not a pairing, but there’s definitely a mutual respect and caring in a fraternal sorta way MURDER BROS.
Lestat & Daniel – they’ve not had a lot of canon interaction but I’d bet Lestat is forever grateful that Daniel basically started the VC which eventually brought him back together with Louis. There’s fic and RP (see daniel-james-molloy) out there that would support a Lestat/Daniel BROTP, possibly an actual ship, I likes it.
Lestat/David – Post-TOBT David has had little canon interaction with Lestat in a loving fledgling/maker way. There have been one or two scenes of extreme feistiness between them, which were hot and problematic, but they seem to have reached a kind of amnesty and even care for eachother.
Armand & Marius – have a kind of amnesty between them. Marius has done some pretty insane things for Armand, with good intentions, but still.
Daniel is with Marius these days.
David is sort of a loner but he does visit with Louis, Lestat, and Jesse on occasion. They seem to be his closest friends.
I would say that the relationships change throughout the series, and that some ppl simply do not include certain books in their headcanon, which changes relationship dynamics, too. Including “present day” ship dynamics. For example, if you don’t include Prince Lestat in your VC headcanon, then Marius and Daniel have a different sort of (probably specifically and clearly) platonic relationship than they do if you DO include Prince Lestat.

Seriously, commission her, you won’t be sorry. Everything I wanted for this piece, all my requests, I got. She nailed it, guys.
The look between them. I know they’re one of the least popular VC ships out there, but frankly, and especially as I’m looking at this, I don’t give a damn. There’s no decades or centuries worth of bad blood between them yet. There’s no history of betrayal, abandonment, manipulation, or heartbreak between them. Sure, it’s there in their personal experiences, but not with one another, not yet. Would theirs be a waistcoat-ripping, fire-setting, loss-riddled, globe-stalking, psychologically damaging, deliver-you-to-death’s-doorstep romance?
No. But it could be something good. Lestat has been searching for goodness for centuries, and I’ll be damned if Daniel doesn’t deserve some goodness after everything he’s been through. I love this ship for it’s potential. Because it could possibly be functional. Daniel is a listener and Lestat is a talker. Daniel likes kissing and snuggling dead things and Lestat is amourous. Both are risk-takers in their own right so there’s opportunity for lots of fun and adventure. Because these are two personalities that I think would mesh well more often than they would clash. Because Daniel went searching for him and has been vampire fanboy number one for sixty years, and Lestat adores adoration. Because Lestat took the time during the potential annihilation of all of vampire-kind by Akasha to note that Daniel was pretty. Because Daniel would go with Lestat if he asked him too. And if wanting to see a ship that has capacity for good and such potential is wrong, I don’t ever want to be right.

Yes, Claudia is more of a monster then Louis is comfortable with.
Yes, Louis has always seen Claudia as a daughter that its difficult to see her as anything but.
The fact is that Louis would do anything for her even if she’s a monster but he knew that even with a child’s body. Louis could never be so naive to not see that and if he didn’t he saw it when he read the evidence from Claudia’s diary. That didn’t stop him from loving her and wanting to see her again.
I’m not saying we would be alright with the relationship at first. Upon seeing her in such a form would stir many feeling in both of them but he wouldn’t be able to turn her away. Claudia sees it as something he could grow into.
Naturally they would become companions once more and in this form he wouldn’t be able to help looking at her a bit differently. Everyone’s problem is that they know Claudia is more then an adult but in a child’s form they ignore that fact and care on with things as they wish. In a adults body they would be force to see her as she is.
Louis would still love her, he couldn’t not.
He might have been in a relationship with Lestat at the time of her being around but we all know that his relationship with Claudia was more important due to him letting Claudia kill Lestat. Plus when Lestat went after them later on Louis once again aided in helping destroy Lestat and defended Claudia.
I’ve been trying to find a way to put these thoughts into words (words that will not bring my favourite hate anon back with a vengeance) since i-want-my-iwtv mentioned this earlier today. However, I suppose I will take the chance because fuck it, I’m going on hiatus tomorrow anyway.
tl;dr – I think if Armand was convinced that this was something Claudia truly wanted (and let’s be honest, with his Mind Gift, it wouldn’t be hard for him to determine) then he would have no problems going forward with this relationship. He sees Claudia mostly as the woman she is inside her mind and less as the child she is in body only. While the relationship presents some challenges, I think it is possible and have no problems roleplaying it as such.
It is true that my Armand is pursuing a romantic, and hence possible sexual relationship, with a Claudia. She has been aged up in that thread to avoid the usual legal and moral implications that would be involved with a five year old appearing body involved with a seventeen year old appearing one. However, with the way the characters are, I would not have shied away from a relationship with a canon Claudia for them either (only used fade to black because while Armand may not have issues with it, I sort of squick at writing that).
However, the big issue for me is that while Claudia may LOOK like a child, she isn’t. Armand, a character who is the most cerebral of the coven. He knows what is going on in everyone’s mind and will occasionally alter it to his own liking. Because of this, my headcanon is that outward appearance means little to him. He sees people the way they see themselves. So when he looks at Claudia, he sees the adult woman she truly is and not the body she is trapped in.
That does not mean to say that he is completely oblivious to the implications of a relationship with her. It would not be possible for the two of them to be romantic in public, risking mortals making a scene. Even the coven (particularly Louis I would think) would raise a fuss at the two of them together. These would be of concern but in the end would not sway them necessarily.
Most of all, for Armand, who was kidnapped to be used for sexual pleasure at a young age, he would be most concerned with making sure this was what SHE wanted. Armand is portrayed over and over as selfish but I believe that he has a soft spot for victims of human trafficking and sex crimes. It is one of the reasons I disregard anything past him meeting the sun in his canon because the whole story line with Benji and Sybelle is so far from my understanding of the character that I can’t believe it to be the same Armand.

like Gandhi), bc it wouldn’t solve anything between the differing opinions but I have a need to respond to every message in a timely manner so this is how I have to do it.
This blog is about inclusiveness, and a big part of that is tolerance of different people’s opinions. Even if they are widely considered BATSHIT CRAY CRAY opinions. It’s not my job to tell people what to think. I run this blog for fun. If I really believe my concept of something is 100% infallible, I can only share my idea and the reasoning behind it, and hope I can win over the opposing side. It’s a great thing that there are informed people who want to correct the record here in tumblrland, and I have learned SO MUCH re: the wide spectrum of issues that we have in this world, my opinions have definitely been altered. Once you’ve said/writ your peace and the other side is still not budging, you may still be right, but try not to let it stress you out.
One thing about tumblr, and Life in general, is that there are a lot of uninformed ppl and ~hyperbole~ (veering towards the negative or the positive), is part of the language here since all we have is the written word, and sometimes meant to be a little sarcastic. Meant to even be humorous. “But I didn’t think it was funny! It was majorly offensive!” you say. Well, maybe you didn’t find it funny. Maybe 9/10 people didn’t. But, maybe it was funny for 1 person. At least that person who posted it. Plus, exaggerated opinions are more likely to be Liked/Reblogged, which encourages it.
