“for Claudia’s amusement”
I’ve been informed there is a shocking lack of Lestat and Louis performing Shakespeare together. which is heartbreaking and very not okay.

Just because I’d like to see if there is a general consensus…
and because @i-want-my-iwtv‘s recent post got me wondering…
How many of your actually feel that Louis’ visiting Lestat at the end of IWTV and the conversation that followed actually happened? Lestat insists that it didn’t, but both him and Louis are unreliable narrators…
Personally, I think it did, however, I think Louis put in some of his own scenes within his telling of the moment to provoke Lestat. That’s why Lestat says it didn’t happen, because it didn’t fully to the extent that Louis said it did.
I actually got the Barnes and Noble edition of the first three novels of the Vampire Chronicles for Christmas, so I’ll eventually be reading back soon to see if my opinion changes or if something suggests otherwise.
Yes, I’d like to know what ppl think about this, too! Pls comment/reblog with whether this happened, or if it happened differently than reported ;D

You know in Interview With The Vampire Louis talks about having ran into Lestat broken in their old home – while in The Vampire Lestat Lestat says it never happened? What’s your thoughts on it? Was Lestat too damaged to remember at the time? Was Louis kicking sand in Lestat’s face to get him to come to him?
Ooooh good question! In IWTV, Louis says that he did visit Lestat (and it was in the movie).

We have #unreliable narrators and it’s hard to say whether it happened, or happened in a different way than described…
They do agree that Lestat was in hiding and pretty decrepit. Louis describes Lestat as being holed up in some crumbling old house some short distance away from their old Rue Royale flat, which Lestat does confirm in TVL:
“And I spent the last years of the 1800s in complete seclusion in the old Garden District a block from the Lafayette Cemetery, in the finest of my houses, slumbering beneath towering oaks.”
I answered it more in depth on this post, in which I said that I trusted Louis’ account. Lestat refusing to kill a baby would be in character for him. That Louis would invent this just whole scene to provoke Lestat out of hiding is less in character for him, but possible. He did leave a lot out, and leaving out information is lying by omission.
Your headcanon may be that it happened, and someone else’s may be that it didn’t. Even if AR says one way or the other, there are readers who will still hold onto their own headcanon. #Your headcanon may vary on this one.
Lestat I need some advice. My cousin (who is very close to me) is currently in jail. We don’t know if she really murdered someone, or if she was only an accessory. She wants me to write her letters while shes there. However, I dont know if I should. While she and I are close she is scary and I don’t want the letters to be something that tells her that what she did was okay. What do I do?
♛Do the thing! Why not write to her? If you’re so close with your cousin, I can tell you that visits and letters can mean the world to someone who is otherwise cut off from it, whether by their own choice or not.
Perhaps what she did was in fact “okay” given her circumstances at the time. Could have been self-defense, or defense of someone who needed it. You might consider drawing out more of the facts in your letters with her.
Whether she’s scary or not, and whatever her level of guilt, if you care about her, keep the connection. You can always stop when you have more information.

I just finished TVL screaming, the epilogue was so 10/10 and ahhhh he got Louis back and OMG THAT CLIFFHANGER ENDING I can’t even. I loved it when he was like “Louis, you can come with me, but get rid of the sweater” and Gabrielle showed up to kick ass and all the family Lioncourt banter. There was one part where Lestat said that he and Louis would act out Shakespeare for Claudia. Best vampire dads ever. Like where is the art for that because I desperately need it!!! Sorry it’s kinda a rant oops
That’s the kind of reaction I love seeing! I’m sure AR would be very happy w/ your reactions, too ;]
As for fanart of “Lestat said that he and Louis would act out Shakespeare for Claudia. Best vampire dads ever” yes we do always need more but enjoy THIS:

I’ve been reading Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles lately, and I had to draw this one out.
Storyception! Being told a story of that one time Lestat was told a story by Marius of that one time Marius was told a story by that crispy elder guy about Queen Akasha.
Dearest Lestat, I was just watching Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” and I noticed that the Beast’s human form looks an awful lot like you. What do you think?
♛I would say that the resemblance is uncanny… in more ways than one. Yes, budding youth, handsome, blue eyes and blond hair. Even the expression in the painted portrait we see of Prince Adam is a familiar expression of mine *winks*
I relate deeply to that story. If I’m the Beast, and I’m constantly swooning over Louis’s slightest glance at me, does that make him Beauty? Probably.

As much as I do praise myself (and others do, as well!) to the high heavens for my looks… Being at home in my own body has been, and still is, a constant a struggle. It’s a love-hate relationship with the mirror. As often as I say it, the impact remains the same: my reflection has startled me on more than one occasion, it’s depressed me, it’s made me almost lose the will to live. There were times that I couldn’t look in a mirror. I wouldn’t wish that feeling on my worst enemy.
There is a real horror in what we are, hosts to a vampiric parasite. That moment of awakening, that first breath after the change. Beautiful and monstrous all in one. And each time I survive something and my reflection shows me something close to what I was before all this happened, that’s a small comfort.

Dumped in a swamp, and you’re to blame, darling you give love a bad name. You slit my throat, set the house aflame! You give looove a BAD NAME!
♛He did do those things to me or watched as they were done and he does give love a bad name.
He’s lucky that despite all that, I have a forgiving nature.
Still… good to sing that at him now and then.

Belated gift for @garama!! Who wanted Christmas sweaters! 😀
