Yes, that would be a particularly big challenge, to be as loathsome as AR sometimes describes him, while still being a little Botticelli angel, that’s Armand’s whole delicious appeal!
Yeah, well, for Armand’s backstory, one would have to make The Vampire Armand, instead. I think that would be a fantastic movie, so much happens in it, it probably would be better as a series, with episodes to break it down. His life with his family. His religious zealotry as a young man. His kidnapping. The whole brothel time period. Marius rescuing him. The Palazzo time period in his life. BIANCA SOLDERINI and her story! Etc.

It was so hard to read her section. I kept telling myself, “I’m only reading this book ONCE, so I cannot skim EVEN THIS, surely there is some little tiny scrap of good to be sifted for in the story of Rose?”
NO THERE WAS NOT. And did anyone else notice that her “boyfriend“‘s name is GARDNER? ONE WHO GARDENSROSES?! Brilliant name-choosing there, AR.
ooc; Okay, but the part where Louis was like “don’t worry baby we’re going to sue” and then suddenly there was fire everywhere

I was too busy trying to figure out if I was supposed to know Rose from one of the other books or one of the Mayfair books or something (I never finished those). I love that Louis + Fire is basically the best pairing in PL, but otherwise, what was even the point of her? Viktor’s purpose was to be the bait to lure Lestat places, but Rose literally served no purpose at all.
Also I don’t buy that Louis would be okay with “adopting” a kid? Like I get saving her ass and financially supporting her, I guess. But not playing Uncle Lestan and forcing Louis to play Uncle Lestan’s “friend.”
The entire Viktor and Rose thing could have been left out with absolutely no impact on the book. I have many problems with this book, but those two? Yawn.

You started with The Queen of the Damned, or with Interview with the Vampire? Definitely read the first 3 books in the series, those are are good.
The “crackyness” that we make fun of it for sort of happens at book 4, Tale of the Body Thief, which is still a great story (especially compared to the later books)…
I think you should read it all. Especially if there are certain characters you’re beginning to feel more of an attachment to. If you love Armand, for example, you should read The Vampire Armand. If you love Marius, reading Blood & Gold would be of interest to you.
I think any VC fan should read them all, read lots of fanfic, and decide on their own what they consider to be “the real story.” Your headcanon may vary from mine, but that doesn’t make you a lesser/greater fan. You can ignore the crackyness.
