My first four books in The Vampire Chronicles arrived today, very excited to sit down and read them. I would like to thank @i-want-my-iwtv for introducing me to the whole series and not just the movies, thank you so much!! ✨

You’re so welcome! Seeing a stack of books like that is like seeing old friends 😀

This is a better cover for that first one tho…

I had an interview today. They asked me what I read recently, and I immediately said Vampire Chronicles with no regrets. Both of the interviewers were fans, and we gushed for two minutes. I think VC helped me into college.

awwwwww, I love it when VC brings ppl together!

VC also won over a work person for me. We started off on fairly bad footing, and over time, I let out little hints that I was into VC. She reciprocated, and eventually we became friends over it! We no longer work together but she is one my fave ppl. We thank Lestat for the gift of bringing us together!

Confession I didn’t know Interview With A Vampire was a book until I found this blog

Well GET CRACKALACKIN’ AND #READ THE BOOK! A lot of answers will be funnier on this blog when you know more canon.

Fair warning, Lestat did not enjoy the book. He really didn’t. But there was quite a bit in the book that didn’t make it into the movie, and several things had to be changed, so it really behooves you to #read the book.

#VC Free Advertising: BTW this is a new tag, in which I will tag posts like this, which I can use to defend myself from copyright infringement claims, bc this blog is actually free advertising for the VC, rather than being detrimental to sales of the books, I’m actually making free advertising for them ;D

So please tell me if you are buying or reading the books because of my blog, it would be a big help to know *u*

Also, I adore your blog! <3 It was what finally pushed me to stop staring at the VC books on my shelf and actually pick them up and order some more. So thank you and stay awesome! :)

Aw thank u so much! ♥u♥

Please keep us posted on your thoughts as u progress, altho we all love these stories, we can never quite recapture the thoughts and feels we had when we first read them. And I’m telling you, you will probably enjoy my crazy more when you know the series better.

Note also: I’m tagging this #Free VC Advertising, which is my new tag for posts in which ppl tell me they’re reading/buying the VC bc they were inspired to do so by my blog. This will help protect the blog in the event that *someone* wants to take it down (on the grounds that it’s detrimental to the sales of the VC).

If people are inspired by this blog enough to read/buy the books, well, then I’d say it’s doing the exact opposite, it’s PROMOTING the series!

leslutdelioncourt:

i-want-my-iwtv your blog is the reason I started reading the vampire chronicles. The fact that you just followed me made my day.

Awww! #ANOTHER CONVERSION #ANOTHER SOUL CLAIMED IN THE NAME OF OUR FANDOM. #I love these kind of stories. Bwahahahaaaa…

Post your thoughts as you go. As much as we love this series, one can never recapture the things we felt/thought the first time thru, the feel of something new. Hopefully we haven’t spoiled you too badly.

Your URL implies that the spoilage is already deep… well. What is a “slut” but a sensualist? Someone with a lust for life! That’s our Lestat alright.

@grimdarkthroes: How I found VC and my descent into vampire hell

grimdarkthroes

My (bio) cousin makes video games for a living, plays and makes guitars, and is a massive video game and roleplaying nerd. So little me went all spiral-eyed whenever he did anything for me.

He bought me two very important books for my 12th birthday. The Vampire: the Requiem rulebook (the red book), and IWTV. Naturally, I devoured both.

I read IWTV and everything was wonderful pretty much instantly. There wasn’t a single part of that book I didn’t adore. It was through my rapid and all-consuming obsession with vampirism that I actually started to bloom; creatively, socially, mentally, everything just started to resolve and I started to become a person I like. Yes, I read Twilight during this initial discovery stage. Yes, I was in the fandom briefly. But it was so hollow compared to what I had already read that I was perplexed that others seemed to not want to branch out into real, monstrous vampirism.

Essentially IWTV is what sparked me going from awkward pubescent to actually pretty great 20-something. I now LARP with the MES (VtR, of course) and write urban fantasy and am generally completely in love with vampires.

But now a confession: I’ve only ever read IWTV. I haven’t read all of the VC, despite owning literally all of it (sometimes multiple covers per book!) So which should I finally read next?!

#I love stories like these, how we got into this mess series.

It’s heartwarming to see how the Ricean vampires have had such a positive effect on ppl in their formative years. They are dysfunctional hipster vampires, all kinds of flaws and existential crises, they try to resolve them, they try to find the answers to questions big and small, and in general promote a trust in one’s self, an inner confidence and an ability to draw pleasure from even simple things. These are good things for anyone, of any age, to absorb.

YOU SHOULD READ THE VAMPIRE LESTAT NEXT you’re going to love it!

So I took your advice, and i’ve started on TVC in order. I’ve finished IWTV (I feel soo sad for Madeline, more then anyone) and am about to start TVL, but it’ll be slow going as I am starting classes. Should I see IWTV the movie now? (never seen it, i’m allergic to Tom Cruise) or should I wait til I’m thru QotD?

Yayyy! So happy to find out I’m (hopefully) infecting someone with this addiction.

Watch IWTV now, before reading TVL. Let Lestat just be the antagonist that Louis portrays him as, for now.

For more of my ramblings, click click:

Madeleine: It’s a strange feeling to be sad for Madeleine, and I am too, bc Louis feels almost nothing for her, even after sharing such an intimate experience with her :,( She has so little time. She probably wouldn’t have survived very long tho, she was mad. She started out a bit mad, and I blame Louis for making her poorly… he’d only seen this done twice, and didn’t take notes, lol… and he was reluctant to do it, didn’t seem to get any pleasure out of it, and that’s supposed to be one of the most exciting/pleasurable acts a vampire can do.

My own theory, formed in part from ideas from cloudsinvenice, is that Claudia tried to make Madeleine into a vampire on her own, numerous times, and that these blood exchanges might have driven Madeleine mad physically and psychologically. Only after suffering from enough of these repeated failures did Claudia have to lower herself by asking/begging Louis to do it.

You’ll see Lestat differently after reading TVL, he’ll be more layered, and then you can watch IWTV again, and notice subtle things Cruise does to call up TVL. After all, Cruise had read IWTV and TVL to prepare for the role. He must have read all the way through ToBT eventually, too, because there was a time when he was connected with the film rights to that book, and was considering reprising the role for it.

Now I’m rambling but whatever…

Allergic to Tom Cruise, hmmm… Well I’m not a Cruiser (hardcore Tom Cruise fans sometimes refer to themselves this way), but there’s always a place in my heart for him purely attached to his performance as Lestat, so that might help get you through your allergic reaction as well. His characters usually have an element of obnoxious good humor about them, at least in the 80’s and 90’s he was particularly excellent at the Asshole-who-learns-how-to-be-a-Decent-Human-Being-and-we-all-Love-Him-At-The-End-Because-Of-This-Transformation. One might think this is who he must be in Real Life since he chooses such similar roles. We don’t know.

If you’re allergic to him bc of who he is a human being, and I know he’s had alot of bad press, had alot of issues with his religious beliefs, and personal life… I think it’s unfair to judge him on those things. He’s a successful actor, obviously, his face alone still sells movie tickets and DVDs, and he’s a professional, often doing most of his own stunts.

I hadn’t cared for Tom Cruise (or Brad Pitt, either) before IWTV, I don’t think I even knew who they were. I liked Jim Carrey, Harrison Ford and David Dochovny at that time… I was pretty out of the loop on celebrity crushes, I think I was 12 when I saw IWTV (on VHS! omg), and I loved both TC and BP in it… It’s become nostalgic for me.

When I see their respective movies now, I still try to watch for little Lestat-esque moments in whatever TC is playing, little Louis-esque moments in BP 🙂 I’m not the only one who grafted some rockstar Lestat onto TC’s Stacee Jaxx from Rock of Ages, since Lestat does become a rockstar in Queen of the Damned.
