You’re very welcome *u* It is, for the most part, a super nice fandom, as we’ve had our share of drama already (among other things, being driven underground by our own series creator in the 90’s), so we’re all pretty grateful to be able to find eachother now.

And thank you for the compliments, of course!

When you are a vampire, you become very… sexy.

I saw What We Do in the Shadows at the premiere for it in NY. It’s a great vampire mockumentary! I was in stitches. Just excellent. Can’t wait to buy a copy on DVD, the creators said there would be loads of extra goodies *u*

There was a Q&A afterwards with the creators, and I asked them if any of their vampires took inspiration from Anne Rice’s, and they did say the costume design was definitely influenced by Interview with the Vampire, among other vampire movies. The Lost Boys was a big inspiration, too. C’mon tho, Lestat himself had to be an influence. These are very dysfunctional vampires.

I don’t want to spoil anything but there is a scene that is particularly reminiscent of a scene in IWTV!

The Catacombs in Paris

Carved into the limestone a second city runs underneath Paris and I was lucky enough to get to visit the bits officially open to the public.

Initially you wander down nearly 100 stairs before reaching the tunnels, along the way to the ossuary there are lots of winds and bends and you are still able to see the tool marks scratched into the stone from the early 1800s. Then there is the carvings of a miniature city by an individual who never got to finish it because they were killed by a cave-in before they had opportunity.

Upon reaching the ossuary and entering all you can see is bones, lining the tunnels, literally millions of people. And the further in you go, the more decorative they get with skulls arranged into shapes like hearts. If you’re tall enough to be able to see the top of the stacks, you won’t be able to see how far back they reach.

One I thought sixpenceee might find interesting!

How the hell fights Anne Rice? D:

Anne Rice does not lower herself to fight physically. She sends in packs of rabid lawyers with this battle cry:

wombatkittenkisser, it’s subjective. As LIFE ITSELF is subjective! There are high points that reach towards the very sun and low points that go right down to repeated bloody-lego-stepping-self-mutilation. “Goodness” lies in how you react to it.
