Are you ticklish? If you are I’m totally going to tickle you. If Louis is ticklish that I might just tickle him instead. After all he is my favorite vampire out of all the vampires in the VC.

♛I’ll confess that I am very ticklish, when I’m in the mood for it. More so when I was a child. My nurse, who you’d call a “babysitter” now, or a “minder,” I suppose… an older villager with limited energy, she would shuffle after me down the halls of the castle, I’d let her catch me up and reduce me to a painful amount of giggling on the floor. She wasn’t satisfied until we were both hoarse from laughter!

image

Anon, let me be very clear: my defensive reflexes are too fast for a mortal to get to those sensitive areas, unless I’m already compromised… with sufficiently adulterated beverage. You’ll have to find me somewhere in that state if you hope to accomplish this little mission of yours *winks* and then there’s the added mystery of where those areas are since I’m not telling you *smirks*

Louis is your favorite? I’d be offended but that we have that in common, he’s my favorite, too. Getting Louis into full-blown laughter is a real challenge. More of a mental game than a physical one, but I’ll use anything at my disposal to make it happen when the moment is ripe. Protip: he is not physically ticklish unless he is warm and well-fed, and already in a pleasant mood. The difficulty is that much of his pleasure is experienced inwardly.

One of the best and cheapest tactics to get Louis to laugh audibly is the simplicity of a staring contest. He can’t help it. No need to announce when the contest begins, just set yourself up comfortably before him and begin staring. He can’t resist the challenge. Even from mortals.

Do you think any of the vampire’s have accents? Like Lestat and Gabrielle with a French one or Armand with an Italian or French one?

I have a little treat for you first, the voice of Nicolas! Well, kinda sorta.

image

[X ^ This is model Tomek Szczukiecki who looks hella more mysterious w/ his face cropped like dis]

@devilsviolinist had posted this audio clip of Nicolas’ normal/contented voice, and @colourful-jack informed us that it is in fact ballet dancer Jonathan Klein [audio from this vid here]. While Klein does not look at all like Nicolas, listen to the audio clip, the voice is great!

I have to consider the others some more but I didn’t want to make you wait any longer for at least some reply ;]

As someone who studies jewellery and silversmithing (first year, so I’m no expert. yet :D) I think it’s unlikely to make one as detailed as Lestat’s and yet keep it at reasonable price. The design is very filigree indeed. But I’ll keep this in mind for next year’s workshop time, and let you know if I come up with something. (Also, in what way is yours fragile? Pewter generally is quite study.)

OMG A JEWELRY PERSON! [re: Lestat’s thumb ring] This was exactly what I was hoping for, that a jewelry person would see that post! I want to take hot jewelry classes so bad omg

(I can do coldworking w/ beads and wire, might try to sell those here at some point).

image

It could be done with moldmaking. You’d make a master ring with all the filligree detail (tbh idk how filligree is applied) and then cast copies of it in an affordable but durable metal. Maybe mine isn’t pewter, that’s what I thought it was, like those little figurines you get at Renaissance Faires… (like the dragon here) but if pewter is strong, then mine might not be pewter bc it has at least one hairline crack in it as you can seeee 😛

image

Yes, keep it in mind for next year’s workshop, message me privately, I could help come up w/ a design that might be easier to make. Like I said, I headcanon that Lestat has a lot of these, so it doesn’t need to be identical to the one in the movie ^______^

Is this where i may apply to join the theatre de vampires I heard u get free cookies

When you join you will be unable to eat cookies. Wouldn’t our fandom pastry be red velvet cupcakes tho?

X Lestat’s line from @bloodstainedcherub]

♛Salut Lestat! I have been invited to a theatre party to meet some new cast members of a play I’m in and I’m so excited! Any advice on how to absolutely exude confidence while also having fun, seeing as you are so fabulous yourself? :) (lady anon btw!)

♛Bon soir, mademoiselle…. How jealous am I of your upcoming theatre soirée? It is the appetizer for the actual performance you’re part of, so in a word: Very. I miss the stage. I ache for the spotlights! I miss being part of a cast, and all the bonding and trusting that go along with it.

image

I’ll tell you what I told Louis all those years ago, as obvious as it sounds, it must be said: Don’t overthink things. He really did for a long time there, focusing on the mechanics of interactions and trying to come prepared with lines *hand waves* it was all totally unnecessary. Most people are already in a convivial enough mood at these gatherings, more so if they’re given enough sugar or alcohol, all you need do is go with the flow.

This must also be said: Please do not wear jeans. Even if everyone else is. You will stand out as taking it all a little more seriously in a skirt, dress, or really, anything other than jeans. What, are we all farmhands now? I look down the street and I see all these torn jeans, people pay extra for them to be “pre-distressed.” Please.

(Alright, I buy them like that, too, but I have to blend in! It’s part of the costume to fit in with you people.)

And if you find yourself not engaged in conversation with anyone, that’s fine. It’s sometimes to my benefit to withdraw from these groups to recharge for a moment (to grab a quick drink, you know…).

With the ‘exuding confidence’ part, since you are a practitioner of the theatre, here are a few points that helped me in the beginning:

Walk as if you are leaving melted gold wherever you go. Touch things, like your glass, as if your hands have the same effect. Gently but with intention. Focus your energy and attention on whoever you’re with, but know that you are glowing, even when you are simply listening. Theatre people love to talk, so just listening can have a lot of impact on them.

It’s always good to attend these gatherings with someone you are already close to, I do love dragging Louis or David around with me, but don’t tie yourself down to them. You can break away from them and then rejoin them throughout the evening.

Find something to compliment one of these new cast members on; jewelry is a good thing, people usually have stories attached to those items. Or a piercing that you find intriguing! Ask if it hurt, they’ll probably give you their reason for doing it, too.

If you follow that advice, it won’t fail to be a fun experience.

Gather stories from the new cast members.

Treat it like a kind of performance, is what I’m saying!

Can you tell me where you got your lestat ring?

I’m sorry to tell you that I got my Lestat ring in 1994 for like $15 at Hot Topic so it’s highly unlikely you’d find it there now 😛 (I’ve seen them pop up on eBay in different variations from time to time, tho. See below for that.) I’ve been meaning to make a post about MY thumb ring tho and this is the perfect excuse to do it!

When I compare mine to the ring in the movie, it’s different (other than the fact that it’s too big for me lol). I headcanon that Lestat has tons of these in different designs and that he likes how chunky and ugly rugged and masculine mine is ^______^

image

^I didn’t have another hand to take the pic so I had to use a banana instead of my wrist look how committed I am to you that I did that just to approximate the angle.

So you can see that the designs are very different, and the curved tip is pretty much just straight on mine, highly impractical for the vampiry purpose although mine can still pierce things.

image

^He’s got swirls of filigree, I have… melty loops? Almost a fleur-de-lys? I can’t wear it often bc it’s made of pewter, pretty fragile.

image

^This ring was not mentioned in the books, it was apparently Neil Jordan’s idea, modeled after the thumb picks guitarists sometimes wear (which I also had to buy bc reasons and might be wearing backwards?). It’s meant to be a teensy ref to Lestat’s rock career in the next book ;]

It’s also a lot of metal around the pad of my thumb so after a while you get that smelly effect like when you’re wearing a bandaid :- I’d love to get in touch w/ a jewelry designer to make one more like the movie version, and also more breathable on the underside, and sell it for a reasonable price bc ppl want it!

Here’s a listing on eBay from March 2015, the seller doesn’t appear active. Theirs is a lot closer to the movie version than mine, but much more expensive for their dedication (GBP 95.00; Approximately US $171.98). Lestat’s on the left.

Where do you get all the cut scene images? Are they from the dvd?

My cut scene images are the collection I’ve gathered over the years, from all over the interwebs. There are very few extras on the DVD and I have legit confirmation that Neil Jordan has been told that we want cut scenes, and he’s considering releasing them. The DVD has director commentary and some behind the scenes stuff as videos, those are probably on YT, too.

[^This guy should not be so close to Louis when he’s hungry.]

One place that has a TON of great stuff is Sara’s Shrine to the Vampire Chronicles, run by @thesaramonster. I have hesitated in sharing the link before now bc ppl will probably just download the pics and repost them, but @thesaramonster wants the traffic anyway. Please include the source link if you repost from her.

Omg, pls do Nicholas and Armand!

I’m so flattered that you want my headcanon *cries* So I’ll do Nicolas now, Armand in the next one ;] Previously: Louis.

Same disclaimer: #your headcanon may vary.

Nicolas is often compared to Louis, and I do see them as both being thin men, almost 6 ft tall, not huge in the muscle department, and they have similar hair color and texture (dark and wavy to their shoulders). They also both carry themselves in a fairly dignified manner, they both have long legs and yes, nice butts. But the differences are very apparent when:

A) You are within a few feet from them: Nicolas is more fidgety, often crossing and uncrossing his legs, changing positions, gesturing more when speaking. He has wider shoulders than Louis, and is small-waisted due to a high metabolism in life, he ate an enormous amount of food w/o any consequences. Not athletically inclined, just great genetics (altho I picture his dad as very barrel-shaped, which was part of why he liked to dress his son up so much, better model!). Conversely, Louis was malnourished and the quality and amount of what he was willing to eat/drink would have ended him if he hadn’t found someone else to do it first.

B) You take off their clothes: Nicolas’ high metabolism and hearty appetite (even in Paris, he was eating that great French bread and wine) made for muscles like a racehorse. More for savory than sweet; I don’t imagine Nicolas as having much of a preference for pastries, which he would eat only bc Lestat was something of a foodie and brought treats home now and then.

I would also imagine Nicolas is darker-skinned than Louis and Lestat, and this complexion further defines his muscles, especially when his skin is wet, all those sharp edges really shine ❤

image

[X] ^I couldn’t find a good human body as an example so here’s a thoroughbred. Not this dark color for his skin, example is for the muscle definition. Nicolas would not have been a horse that would let many ppl ride him, tho.

C) When you get very close to them: Nicolas has a sprinkling of birthmarks that are not mentioned in canon, which form constellations mainly on his face, neck, chest, and arms. Louis might have these too, but a lot less. Lestat liked to trace connections with his finger when they were in bed together and Nicolas secretly loved that

image

^Kylo Ren has these facial birthmarks.

Also, differently from Louis’ blazing green eyes: I don’t think Nicolas’ eye color is mentioned in canon, EDIT: “His brown eyes were very big and trusting.”… “large sober brown eyes” I always pictured them as that great light brown w/ dark limbal rings that absorbs all the light in the area, almost gold in sunlight:

image

[X] He also has long eyelashes, longer than Louis’ eyelashes, and along those lines, for performances at the theatre, I headcanon that he let Lestat apply some guyliner for dramatic effect ;] Not that he needed it, but that he liked Lestat giving him that kind of special attention.
