Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise did a magnificent job portraying Louis and Lestat. They were so canon and so on point, they embodied them perfectly. I don’t think that any two other actors could do a better job. Let’s just hope that it will be decent.

We have the unique opportunity now to cast ppl who are closer to the ages they were meant to be in canon. Brad and Tom were 30 and the characters were 20-21 (Lestat) and 25 (Louis). In the 90s, it was hard to accurately portray a homosexual relationship, and the world has become more accepting of it in film, so hopefully we can have more of their relationship chemistry actually on screen, too ❤

The only writer that immediately comes to mind is our very own fandom treasure @gairid, who has a Through the 4th Wall, Darkly series which does something in the vein (pun intended hehehe) of what you’re looking for, feels meta. It’s mostly the characters discussing Lestat’s ghostwriter: “Really, Lestat, you need to have a talk with her. It’s getting out of hand. What sort of biographer makes everything up without the slightest regard to the truth?”*giggles*

There is another current writer I know of who does more of what you’re looking for on a regular basis BUT she doesn’t post publicly ;A; I will try to nudge her onto AO3 in your honor ;] To be honest, the interaction of the VC characters w/ fanfic of themselves is usually described as their being amused and/or creeped out, as most ppl who find out about RPF of themselves seem to be.
Lestat would be hella flattered and in fact…. he has written really shmoopy fluff of himself and Louis, which he has not-so-subtly tried to get Louis to read. Louis reads it and makes grammatical corrections and hands it back. Secretly, he’s very touched.
Louis loves the fanart but is mildly creeped out by the fandom’s fanfic of himself, partly bc he thinks the writers spend too much time glorifying his appearance, and/or he’s written out of character.
Louis: “Why do they all think I’m sunk in this, this deep depression all the time? I… do things… I go out.”
Lestat: “How much of the evening do you spend outside if I don’t drag you out?”
Louis: “Well, I have to go out to feed.”
Lestat: “And that takes, what, 30 or 40 minutes?”
Louis: “Yes, about.”
Lestat: “So you go out, on average, 35 minutes a night.”
Louis: “Depression is not defined by the lack of amount of time spent outside!”
Lestat: “Louis I was thinking we could be married under the sea.” Louis: “You mean by the sea, that’s very romantic-” Lestat: “Nonono, you misheard me. I said UNDER the sea.” Louis: “We will drown.” Lestat: “We are part mermaid, it’s totes cool” Louis: “We are not getting married.“
It’s funny you mention Lestat turning him bc the question was raised, when old age finally started to rear its ugly head… “What if we could heal him with-”
Louis: NO Lestat. No.
Lestat: Just an experiment to-
Louis: We’re not making a vampire dog that’s a crime against nature we have to draw the line somewhere.
Lestat: *pouts*
Louis: *glares*
Lestat: *pouts harder*
Louis: *glares harder*
Lestat: Ok confession time: I already tried to give him a few drops of blood and he was not at all interested. Repulsed really.
Louis: *ragged sigh*
Lestat: It was worth a try!
Louis: Then why were you even asking me?
Lestat: I thought he might prefer yours–
Louis: *slaps Lestat hard across the face and storms out*
Can someone make Garrett Borns a vampire? Please? He’s so beautiful, and has the voice of an angel. I think he’d make a gorgeous Louis.

Also, as a side note, he’s 24 yrs old in 2016, so we’d have an actor playing really close to the canon age of the character!!! which is always good, bc he’s actually living that point in his life now, might be a little more authentic than reflecting back on it.
So he’s a singer and a model, and I looked up a few vids and couldn’t choose just one as an example. You can do the youtube and check him out there, but here’s a few things I had thoughts on:
[X] ^LOOKIT THIS SMILE. He has dimples which I think is a huge plus. Louis is, in fact, capable of smiling. I imagine Lestat made him wear the shades bc of reasons.
Lestat: “Oh, big Beatles fan? You like John Lennon so very much? Why don’t you wear shades like his, here- ”
Louis: “Those are more ELTON John than John Lennon, Lestat.”
Lestat: “Put them on or I’ll put them on for you.”
^His little smile, in this dreamy lighting, he’s got that ethereal quality we require in a Louis.
^”Oh god Lestat, what fresh hell have you caused?” He’s got the right build, too, that muscular but spare body.
