How would Lestat and Louis enjoy Amadeus?
Gosh I haven’t seen the movie Amadeus
in aaaaages (that’s what you mean, right? I haven’t seen the play), but I think Lestat would LOVE it. Both the movie and the play versions.
There is some similarity here… these two fashionable idiots who seem to succeed at everything despite breaking the rules to do it! I think Lestat would dig the aesthetics of the movie, the fashion, the music… I think he’d jab Louis in the elbow whenever Salieri gets pissy about pretty much everything Mozart does ;D
Louis might not admit it but he’d enjoy it for some of the same reasons.
OT but you’ll have to indulge my venting. If they’re doing the whole Vampire Chronicles, I can’t imagine anyone else doing justice to the patrician grandeur of Marius but Ralph Fiennes. The guy even paints! A white-silvery mane of non-human hair buoyant as his paintbrush. Picture it! The intense sweep of the eyes dissecting the other characters like portrait compositions…. restrained power.
Lemme just say: your description of Marius was so lovely! Whoever is cast, yeah, we’re going to need magnificent hair and we’re going to need to see him actually painting ;D
@sheepskeleton‘s fanart (which is based on Michael Fassbender) is more Marius than Ralph Fiennes, for me, tho…

Feinnes is 54 and Marius was turned at 40. Movie/makeup magic could make him look younger, but I think we’d need a Marius who wouldn’t age through the course of a TV series that could last for several years. He’s going to be 60 in 6 years 😛

So I noticed in the movie IWTV when the vampires go to sleep in their coffins they don’t wear pajamas, why is that?
Hmmm, I don’t know! We only see them in the coffin (for sleeping, as you said, not like in the scene Louis gets locked into a coffin by the TdV) a few times in the film. That could be a sample size problem, maybe other nights they did change into pajamas!
1) There’s the night Louis gets turned, maybe there wasn’t enough time that night to change his clothes but he really ought to have, since his clothes would’ve gotten messy from the procedure (the whole “your body is dying” thing) maybe the filmmakers didn’t want to give him the chance to change clothes bc that would be too caring of Lestat, gotta keep the focus on Lestat being an antagonist.
2) Maybe in these shots w/ Claudia, she is dressed for “bed,” but Louis didn’t have time to change, or maybe he likes dressing in what he’s going to wear the next night… but I think it’s mostly to try to reduce the pedo taboo. He’s a faher figure, even though he’s technically her brother. If he was wearing something more comfortable or showing anymore than face & hand skin, it could be construed as … not fatherly.
IIRC, changing clothes for bed isn’t mentioned in the book!IWTV. I’ll reblog a few posts of vampires in bedclothes for ya ;D
Lestat talks about putting on a special outfit when he stays over at Marius’ house in TVL. He finds a gold mask w/ a hood, leather gloves covered with gold scales, and a blanket with gold plates on one side.

opened the lid of the sarcophagus while I slept.”
I saw your post about how long Madeleine lived in the book and do you know if she shared a coffin with Louis and Claudia or did they have separate coffins during that 1 week of her living as a vampire?
The night she’s turned, Louis tries to get Madeleine to share a coffin with him (not out of love it seems, but just that the sun is rising and he doesn’t want her to wreck herself), but we don’t know if he’s successful with that, the scene ends without it being confirmed.
After that, I don’t think Louis mentions the sleeping arrangements, but doubt Madeleine would sleep alone at that point. So either with Claudia or Louis, but I headcanon that the night of Madeleine’s turning was the end of Louis sharing his coffin with Claudia ;A;

- Daniel is totally bisexual
- he gives warm hugs
- he’s king of casual clothes
- BUT HE LOOKS GREAT IN A SUIT AND TIE trust me Armand probably dragged him for months around to fancy events once he discovered the beauty of Dan in a suit
- Daniel has heard his fair share of Elizabeth Taylor jokes about his eyes
- he sometimes slipped some whiskey into the smoothies
- he’s so used to typewriters that even now he can’t handle touch screen electronics very well he prefers keypads
- Daniel let one loose next to Armand once it was hilarious
- DANIEL IS AN INTELLIGENT MOTHERFUCKER WITH A LARGE VOCABULARY HE JUST REACTS VERY GRAPHICALLY
- oh god he’s so charming and 20th century boy how can you not love him

Hello there, I’ve heard that Lestat was given a birthday of AR’s husband, and Louis was given AR’s birthday. Is that true? I just read the first two books of VC, and it didn’t mention their birthday at all. Do vampires celebrate their birthdays?

Yep, she gave us their birthdates (Louis – October 4; Lestat – November 7) outside of canon. Neither date is mentioned explicitly in canon, and so some ppl do not accept that information as canon.
(There is also some fanon that Armand’s bday is November 11, which AR never mentioned at all.)
I don’t recall the vampires ever celebrating their birthdays explicitly in canon, but I headcanon that some of them do. Some of them prefer to celebrate the date they were turned, some celebrate both (exception: I headcanon that Lestat doesn’t celebrate the date he was turned) and some celebrate neither (Khayman, maybe).
EDIT: Claudia mentions in her diary entry in QOTD that Sep. 21 is the night her dads honor every year as her birthday, and she doesn’t know why. It’s probably the night she was turned, bc Lestat tells her “‘It was the day you were born to us.’ ” It’s Michele Rice’s birthday, Anne Rice’s daughter.
[X] BTW, I was looking for a reference as to Lestat and Louis’ birthdays for an Ask and found this. Someone used one of my memeythings for Becket’s birthday in 2015. The POTP are aware of me… *shudders*

Hello, it’s me again. Have u ever heard of Eneagram of personality? I think Lestat is Enthusiast and Louis is Individualist. Don’t u think so? What about other vampires? What kind of personalities they have, in ur opinion?
Ummm, I’ve never heard of Enneagram of personality before! I went on Wiki for answers, and I’m still not really clear on it… but anyone is welcome to comment/reblog this post with their ideas re: the character’s alignment on it.
^Gluttony (in the Enthusiast category) would definitely be a vice for Lestat, tho.
I feel like ppl who see Louis as predominantly Melancholy (and ”Fantasizing”, on the chart), well… he is melancholy at the beginning of IWTV, and he’s always been more of an introvert than Lestat, but his revenge on the TdV, and then his rather icy breakup w/ Armand,
…and as canon progressed, I guess I see his strength and dignity such that I don’t see him as all that melancholy anymore. If anything, I see him as more of a Peacemaker, bc that is what he did for 65 years in NOLA. He wanted peace of mind so badly. And I think, over time, he found it in pursuing intrinsic goals and not looking to anyone else to validate his existence.
I don’t remember Armand’s birthday ever being mentioned in the books. Did Anne Rice ever mention it, or did you choose it? If so, was there a reason you chose November 11?

[I read the books when I was 15/16, meaning that it’s been almost 4 years. I’m rereading Vampire Armand again for rping purposes and past the middle it hasn’t been mentioned yet. However, this is the date I got from more than one wiki page and since I didn’t have a specific date in mind I decided to stick with it. Anne Rice might have mentioned it in an interview, perhaps? I’m afraid I won’t be able to assure you that.
