Dear Lestat, I wondered if you would give me advice on rather delicate matter. You see, I will be twenty in few days and I was never in a relationship. That in itself never bothered me, but lately everyone around me started to date someone, and it made me feel bit lonely. At the same time, I haven’t found someone yet that I would connect with on that level or that would share my interests, and I don’t think it would be right to date someone just for the sake of it. Any advice?

♛You’re not yet 20 years old? There is plenty of time for you! There is no rush. Appreciate the other flowers blooming in the garden around you, let their happiness be your happiness. See if you can learn from their example.

There is an awful pressure in this modern age that is similar to the pressure of my mortal years, that being single is somehow considered as “a failure” or “missing out.” I can’t agree with this judgment, and I hope you don’t either.

I have been in enough relationships to tell you that they are wonderful, but they are not all rainbows and

all the time. It’s a part-time job! It takes effort! Being in a relationship is not an end point, it’s the beginning of a shared chapter with someone.

But I won’t lie to you, you might not ever find love. Or it may be right around the corner. Who can tell?

Let go of any feelings of inadequacy for this, if you feel it. Too many people think of life as a series of required chapters or items on a checklist that must be accomplished, and therefore, the failure to achieve them implies a failure in you.

Absolutely not so. “Failure.” “Success.” Let go of society’s narrow definition of these concepts. It’s far worse to settle for having someone in your life who goes through the motions of loving you, but doesn’t. Someone you don’t love. Someone you project your fantasies onto. Someone you want so badly to love you the way you need to be loved. So many people fall into this trap; locked to someone they end up despising sooner or later.

All the loves of my life were found when I pushed past my comfort zone.*  One thing is certain, love won’t find you if you close yourself off from the possibility and opportunity. I found Louis in pursuit of keeping my diet strictly evildoer, and there he was, too dignified to do it himself, throwing himself to the wolves in the hopes that they would slay him. Something led me there, among all the other dens of sin I might have gone to that night. Did fate lead me to him? I like to think so.

*Not that I have much of a comfort zone to begin with *shrugs*

You are whole as you are. Look at your triumphs in this life, look how far you’ve come. Look where you want to go, what you want to do. Give yourself some love.

And then love may just find you.

I have another version without this lighting but my fall-back is always to make shit glow in my artwork so I guess this is the version I’m uploading!
Sorry, I’m so nasty- I was listening to my playlist for them on repeat.
Erase my comments and I’m going to come after you.

is there any chance we can get an 8tracks version of “Songs to Rot with Poetry By” ?

*gasps* I didn’t think anyone would actually ask for that! Okay I kinda did but I did the thing anyway bc I couldn’t resist… then I made this Blingee…

I’ll ask Louis for the tracklist… If I get it from him, it’ll be under that tag, #Songs to Rot with Poetry By.

You know Lestat gave it to him as half a joke, and half bc it really is music that goes well with poetry, candles, baths littered with flower petals, and all that hipster lovey crap they both like so much ;D

Louis do you like Lana del Rey’s music? She’s melancholic, elegant and gorgeous like you. You two could be friends and hang out in rainy nights to recite Lord Byron’s poetry.

♠ A few of her songs are indeed hauntingly beautiful, a favorite of mine is Terrence Loves You. It’s on a disc Lestat made for me, fittingly titled “Songs to Rot with Poetry By.” It’s a prized possession.

Would I want to meet this songstress? I have few mortal friends and they are not celebrities. I’m quite satisfied to have her lovely voice as a gentle accompaniment to my more introverted pursuits. Her music achieves a surreal effect, perhaps she has already befriended supernatural creatures.

I’ve been laughing nonstop at your post on the Barnes & Noble description of Realms. I don’t quite care anymore, let the boy have his adventures it’s too funny and some kind of trippy. Bring it. I’ve held this series, these characters, sacred for so long. I feel like there’s a lesson in this. Ahh, much love for Anne. And on Leonard Cohen, I’d suggest giving “A Thousand Kisses Deep” a listen. Very Armand & Marius-y, to me at least. Also I’ve always wondered, who is your prime favorite character?

I love when ppl have a visceral reaction to posts, and there is smtg kind of extra hilarious about the fact that it’s just the description for the next book, no other commentary really needed! *crieslaughs*

There is a lesson. The lesson eludes me. I, too, have alotta love for AR… whether it’s canon or AU fanfic, she is the gift that keeps on giving *u*

To the tune of It’s Still Rock ‘n Roll to Me:

“Whatsa matter with the vamps I’m writin’?

Don’t you know that they’re outta style?

Maybe I should put a buncha aliens innit…

THROW ‘EM ALL IN A BIG SEXY PILE.”

… It’s all AU fanfic to me.

I read that description through 3x and was still so very confused. As Lestat would say, she’s certainly OUTDONE HERSELF. The comments/tags on that B&N description post (and another related one) are priceless, here’s a bunch:

#oh Christ on a twelve grain cracker #this shit is why I stopped at Queen of the Damned

#honestly im excited i hope theres weird alien sex #i hope its completely ridiculous itll be fun #vampire chronicles

#I WAS READY FOR MERMAIDS! #but no! #it had to be aliens

#not art #the vampire chronicles #but for srs tho ALIEMS.

#FEARLESS ANNE RICE TEACH ME YOUR WAYS

What…tha…fuck?

#what in the goddamn

#ughhh #what da hell #I will still read you

#stahp

I think Anne Rice might have liked Tom Cruise in the movie a little too much
#what the hell did i just read #vampire chronicles

#what?? #:O

Pretty sure we are all conflicted.

#ooc #i’m laughing so hard is this even real

Re:

“A Thousand Kisses Deep” – Leonard Cohen, ok I will give that a listen when I get home. The title already sounds very Marius/Armand ❤

Re: My prime fave character is definitely Lestat *u* but that has changed over time, I answered this more in depth heeeere.

I can’t help but feel as though Louis would’ve liked Leonard Cohen- for his melancholy songs and poetry. Such a shame he passed away.

I would have to agree… I’m not familiar with most of Leonard Cohen’s pieces but the ones I know, I definitely think Louis would find very relatable.

This performance of Hallelujah by

Hillary Clinton (Kate McKinnon) was deeply touching to Louis, I’m sure…

I wore my Lestat shirt, leather jacket, and blasted the songs from your musical every second I could! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, I hope you get everything you want and more… Although, I’m sure your content with the company you keep. I wish you only the best, love ya

♛As well you should have! That’s an appropriate uniform for my birthday, indeed *grins* Many thanks for your lovely message.

That musical has some good music, but my own music is better, and I really must get back to the studio and record some fresh tunes for my adoring fans…

image

Your Music is hard to attain, dearest. I, although I admit to not having tried my hardest to find it as of yet for I am not given enough hours in the day, have yet to find any of your personal work. I would love it listen to it every waking moment of my life (I would play your music at my funeral tbh) if I could, but it seems I am unable to. (@i-want-my-iwtv)

♛ The issue is that some people felt my music had explicit lyrics that might be harmful to children – really only half of the songs were, somewhat, more adult in nature – and these groups gathered together and apparently shattered many of my albums and they melted the cassettes!

image

Sadly, few copies exist and even I don’t know where they are! As for the master recordings, well, I would make fresh copies and sell them, but upon further reflection, they could use some remastering, so you’ll have to wait until I get around to that. I’d play my music at someone’s funeral, hell, I already put the “fun” in “funeral” as it is *smirks*

For now, listen to David Bowie, Bon Jovi, Guns ‘n Roses, Sting, and the Boss, those are several of my major influences *winks*

You know, Moon over Bourbon St. was inspired by Louis’s book? It’s true, or so I’ve been told.

So the story behind this song, is heart breaking and heart warming at the same time. Brian May, the guitarist for Queen, wrote this song for the 1991 Queen album Innuendo. The song was written about how even though Freddie Mercury was slowly dying from AIDS, he was still doing shows, writing, and making music with the band. When they were recording the song, they were worried the Freddie would not have had the strength to do the vocals, because it was getting much worse, and was bed ridden, but he recorded it, and killed it. There will be no one like Freddie Mercury. I don’t care what anyone says, Queen was and still is the best band ever to exist.

The Show Must Go On by Queen

“I’ll fucking do it, darling” he said and killed it in a single take that’s something you need to remember. This is a song that was a single continuous take for his vocals. No misses. No re-records. Not on this, not for Freddie.
