David is going to spread a bit of love around the fandom today to try and heal some of the anger and hurt going around. There has been enough of that lately.

I don’t want to say this but… Going forward, if you are only tossing accusations or pointing fingers or being otherwise cruel David will unfollow, unwatch, ignore and block you. I don’t like being this way but the world has enough pain and suffering without a place of happiness and fun turning into a war zone.

That being said, come here my lovelies and let David show you some love. We adore and value each of you as the remarkable and unique characters that you each are.

Nope, not from a fic, just my own thoughts! I’m glad u like 😉 

Keep in mind that headcanons are the sparkling seeds of fic, the plot points on which a story can be woven around. Wouldn’t you love to read it fleshed out? I’d love to write it! But now it’s out there, and anyone can write it, and when they do, I won’t be able to write mine, because it won’t be “original” anymore… :-  *siiigh*

Just felt like explaining my reluctance to share these ideas, before I can write them up properly… but I AM glad you liked it!

Maybe you should start a Lestat RP blog of your own ;)

♥u♥ I would LOVE to… that’s very kind of you especially, being a Lestat RPer yourself! (BTW thought I was following you already, pardon me on that! Just followed tonight). 

It’s more of a time constraint than a creative one, and I wouldn’t want to seem rude, only being able to RP in a limited way. Maybe people will let me sort of sneak in these little RPs in the meantime 😉

I could even try RPing as different characters since i-want-my-iwtv isn’t a character-specific name. 

Especially now that we are anticipating/dreading the new book, it is very nice to have a funny take on all things VC. (I also love the image of the people of the page as one large discontented possum.)

Yep! I think we’re going to need to be mutually supportive. It has a 99% chance of being… um… therapy-inducing. I think we all just want our fave characters to be represented properly and not pushed ooc (LOUIS IN MERRICK OMG)(I mean he was bewitched but STILL)(ugh)

I think the People Off the Page are the discontented possum… the People Of the Page are going to be a contented possum from page 1, line 1 😉

You are just the cutest precious ever, did you know that? Your commentary always makes me smile.

I just watched the director’s commentary section on the IWTV dvd and there seems to be some additional scenes

YES there are additional CUT SCENES and it is a sore subject among the fandom. And Warner Bros/Geffen doesn’t seem to be interested in releasing a 20th Anniversary edition with those scenes as extras *pouts*

Here’s some tags with pics you won’t find in the movie because they’re production stills or cut scenes (or unused shots from scenes that did make it into the movie, or I couldn’t tell the difference so I tagged it as both). Siiiigh. 

There are little bits in the original trailer that have these, for example:

  • a few seconds’ snippet of a Theatre des Vampires stage performance
  • Louis saying something like, “I can’t take this anymore” to camera
  • Lestat saying something like, “I never knew what life was until it ran out in a red gush on my lips.”

I think Neil Jordan also specifically mentions some things but I haven’t watched the director commentary in a loooong time. 

Regarding Anons/Asks in general

…of course if you ask on Anon, I can only answer by publishing it, so keep that in mind 😉

Advice for VC fandom newbies?

advice? ADVICE? Um, wowww… so I usually have strong opinions on ALOT of things, especially VC-related, but this sort of knocked me speechless. For about a minute. Then I wanted to write a thesis on the subject but managed to keep it to this much.

I would suggest that:

  • If you want to RP as one of the characters, or an OC, you really have to read at least the first 3 books. And lots of fanfiction 😉
  • We have awesome fanfiction and AO3 aims to protect it.
  • Did I mention the fanfiction? It fills in the gaps that canon leaves. And it’s also just delishus.
  • The RPers on here are SO fun to follow. Try finding some in the vcdirectory! 
  • With the canon: you should have an open mind to Crazy Shit Happening

  • DUE to the Crazy Shit that Happens later in the series, you are not required to consider it all canon 😉 Alot of people don’t consider books 5-10 to be canon. Or 4-10. Or wherever they want to draw the line. That is FINE.
  • Brace yourself, because Prince Lestat is coming. No, not like that, you filthy thing! ARRIVING. 10/28/14. And, depending on its crackiness, there is going to be a divide between people who consider it to be canon and people who do not, and that is FINE. 
  • There’s a divide between People of the Page and People Off the Page, described here.
  • In general the People Off the Page are a low-drama fandom, but we do have our spats, even the illustrious human behind i-want-my-iwtv has experienced a few direct situations, and that’s just life, bc people are people, after all. I’ve accepted my share of the fault in these situations and learned from the experiences. I’m not perfect, nobody is :-

The bottom line is that it’s a fandom that only in the past year or so has really come back to life, we were in hiding bc Anne Rice disapproved of fanfic and waged war on us in the 90’s for it. Now that she seems to have lowered her weapons about that, and even praised some VC fanart – permanentglitter for example! – and with the announcement in March of the new book, well, we’re all coming out into the light and making friends and it’s been wonderful!  

I hope you see this, Anon, because we all know there’s a human behind that gray face, too, and I want to personally welcome you and anyone who’s just joining us now… we are a different kind of vampire fandom, that’s for sure.
