Armand and Louis passing by each other on a busy street somewhere in Paris or Moscow, around 1860.
I just love my alternative universe rpgs wirh @louis-heartpiece-of-his-time
Aww, merci merci! Welcome (back) to the fandom ā„ā„ā„ Thank u for the blog leurve *u*
YES it DID used to be a dangerous thing to have anything IWTV related, how dare we as fans Like a Thing and show our appreciation by *gasp* making fanworks for it?? HOW DARE.
I like to think of us as the formerly battered step-children of fandom, having been beaten into submission decades ago, confined to sharing fanworks underground, and, over time, slowly coming up once certain people had decided not to attack their own fansĀ and finding each other in web 2.0, the series reinvigorated by new books/adaptations (tho sporadic, there have been several over the years!) and basically, finding our place in the moonlight, so to speak.Ā
Weāve survived more battles here, too. Wars with the FB People of the Page, more wars from AR against critics of her works, roleplayer and other drama here on tumblr.
What you see now is a fandom thatās been broken and put itself back together, welcomed fresh fans who found their parentās VC collection and gave it a chance, watched one or more of the movie adaptations, seen the Lestat musical, or started the series based on one of the newer books being published⦠I think itās the fresh fans who have helped to heal the older ones ^______^
Iād like to think that all the past suffering has made us more forgiving of each otherās faults, given us more empathy for each other, than fans in other fandoms who havenāt had as rough a time as we have. For the most part I think thatās true.Ā
Sorry, I went off on a whole wall of text there. I guess what Iām saying is that my gift to the fandom has been trying to cheerlead and maintain our revival. This blog started as just my personal backup for collecting fanworks, ideas, and VC news, and it turns out that that stuff? Is something other ppl wanted, too. The lifeblood of the fandom is in the fans sharing works and making friends with eachother ā¤
If youāre looking for more specifically VC blogs, try my #VC fandom hunters tag. Some of the blogs mentioned there may have deactivated by now, but itās a decent place to start š
Youāre so welcome! Sometimes a post/fanart/etc. strikes a certain chord and ya just gotta add more comments than simple tag organization, but donāt want to mark a post with visible comments to it for reblogsā sake, yāknow??Ā
^X (Sorry for the extreme delay in reply to this, I was hoarding this message bc it made me smile ^______^)
Thank you for the blog lurve, and Iām so glad I helped you get back into writing and RPing ⤠These kinds of messages tell me Iām running this thing right, bc both of those things count as lifeblood for the fandom.
(And yes, Iām good, hope you are, too. I think youāre one of my longest-time followers?? And youāre not bored of me yet?? lol)Ā Ā
BTW, to anyone who sees this post:Ā @rip1009 RPās as Nicolas de Lenfent atĀ @monsieur-nicolas-de-lenfent. They are looking for a Santiago to RP with, too.Ā
The sitting room setee – this would be the couch Claudia positioned the poisoned boys on
the piano in the back of the parlor – in the film it was angled differently with the windows to the back but in the same back corner of the parlor
Dinner setting in the kitchen adjacent to the courtyard
the duo desk in the parlor that Lestat threw himself upon following the poisoning
2nd floor desk/library – likely would have been Louis’ domain
the vanity table in Lestats room
Lestat’s bed – note the dramatic canopy
Louis’s bed – note how much simpler/no frills it is
Claudia’s bedroom (sorry for the angle, it was closed off for renovations). She had her own bed with a mini canopy, a sitting area with 2 chairs and a table, and 2 floor length windows to the balcony.
the desk in Louis’ room – it was next to a floor length window which opened up to the balcony that he shared with Claudia (they could open the window and walk out onto the balcony together)
A handful of my photos from The Gallier house AKA Rue Royale.
This is the French Quarter home that Anne Rice based Louis Lestat and Claudiaās home on, and I had chills walking through the entire building. Much love to @i-want-my-iwtv for making me aware of the location. It was fantastic to visit.
I have captioned each photo with where/how they played into the series, based on my interpretation, the floor plan, and where things were angled in the film. If you want to see anymore of the photos I took/the explanations behind them, send me a message and I will make you another set.
Little fun fact about the house – everything green you see here (including the front of the house/the balcony railings) was originally dyed/painted with a color called Paris Green, that was primarily made of arsenic. The homes often killed their occupants within 10 years of arsenic poisoning, but for a bunch of vampires, it was perfectly fine.
(You can see Louisā bedroom chair and table through the door in this gif!)
This is so amazing! One of my dreams is to go to New Orleans. Iām in love with that city, and I want so bad to visit that house! But I know it will be hard and difficult for me to go there since Iām far away from United States and I have no money! But I know Iāll be there some day, for now this photo set has made me really happy! Thank you for sharing this with the Fandom! š¼
Omg your url, lol. Thank u for the blog lurve! ā¤Ā
[ā¦and just started wondering if Anne Rice has ever addressed what would happen if a pregnant human was made into a vampire?]
Lestat does have a dream about going back to the Auvergne and turning his whole family into vampires, infants includedĀ D-: Other than that, no other mention in canon and not in any interview or book signing Iāve heard of. Maybe my followers know? Interesting question!
My thoughts on it under the cut in case of too gorey for some ppl. But in short, I donāt think that the baby would become a vampire, bc it REALLY couldnāt fend for itself. Claudia was a child but at least she could had mental capacity, could talk, was ambulatory, and had teeth that could be transformed into fangs.
(I donāt think Iāve seen any vampire babies in any other media EXCEPT for the one in Twilight, she had rapid growth or smtg? It was confusing.)
Hit the jump for more, possibly squicky thoughts, but no graphics.
Iād think that any unborn child would be, sadly, dumped along with the other organs and materials the new fledgling doesnāt need or canāt use as a vampire. Even if the mortal is turned before giving birth past/on their due date. If the infant survived that forcible removal, I think it would either (A) still be mortal or (B) die⦠bc I think the mortal has to be at some level of development for the vampiric parasite to take hold.Ā
Maybe thatās why we donāt have vampire dogs/cats/etc., bc whatever parts theyāre missing, an infant would be missing those, too. A brain development thing maybe? I donāt know!
