the real questions

(I’m lazy so I’m only answering the 4 you asked about)

Lestat: has an extensive intimates collection and loves shopping for more, even in the ladies’ section, often charming other shoppers into critiquing which colors and styles look best on him. Thongs for daily use, definitely; they also make for another ‘bait’ when stalking prey (when homophobic bad guys see that whale tale they’re more easily drawn out into an alley…)

Armand: silk boxers, usually, in dark gemtones to set off his complexion. He likes it when Daniel buys them for him. Occasionally he’ll wear cotton boy-briefs, especially in summer, when the silk feels too clingy.

Louis: he wore all the appropriate layers as he had done in life, after turning, and that was a ton of clothing. Modern day? merciful-death has convinced me that he now goes commando and I can’t disagree. His jeans are all very soft and worn-in, and he likes the feel of the cloth. Lestat likes this preference, too.

Marius: had been a commando guy in life and for many years after turning, currently he prefers boxer-briefs, gray, which he buys buy the pack bc they often end up painted on. He can be found painting wearing only his underwear; even in abandoned buildings, should the muse take him. He will wear silk boxers when sharing his bed with a lover, but seldom gets more creative than that.

Also gonna open this up to you, People off the Page, what do u think?

I’m confused by Lestat’s relationships with the other characters. I’ve been reading the books for a while now, but I’m still a little confused. Could you try and explain his relationships with Louis, Marius, Armand, Daniel, and David. What is Armand’s relationship like with Marius these days? Where are Daniel and David (presently speaking)? Who are they with? What are they like? I’m so overwhelmed with all of the books. Can you help?

I can’t explain all those relationships! Even the characters involved couldn’t explain them. They’re a big ol pile of dysfunctional hipster vampires and their ships are a hot mess.

BUT I SHALL TRY. Nobody attack this please, I’m grossly over-simplifying for the sake of this one Anon’s overwhelmtion ;] #your headcanon may vary, #ship and let ship.

At their most basic:

  • Lestat/Louis – Murder husbands, OTP, 5ever
  • Lestat & Marius – not a pairing, but there’s definitely a mutual respect and caring in a paternal sorta way.
  • Lestat & Armand – not a pairing, but there’s definitely a mutual respect and caring in a fraternal sorta way MURDER BROS.
  • Lestat & Daniel – they’ve not had a lot of canon interaction but I’d bet Lestat is forever grateful that Daniel basically started the VC which eventually brought him back together with Louis. There’s fic and RP (see daniel-james-molloy) out there that would support a Lestat/Daniel BROTP, possibly an actual ship, I likes it.
  • Lestat/David – Post-TOBT David has had little canon interaction with Lestat in a loving fledgling/maker way. There have been one or two scenes of extreme feistiness between them, which were hot and problematic, but they seem to have reached a kind of amnesty and even care for eachother.
  • Armand & Marius – have a kind of amnesty between them. Marius has done some pretty insane things for Armand, with good intentions, but still.
  • Daniel is with Marius these days.
  • David is sort of a loner but he does visit with Louis, Lestat, and Jesse on occasion. They seem to be his closest friends.

I would say that the relationships change throughout the series, and that some ppl simply do not include certain books in their headcanon, which changes relationship dynamics, too. Including “present day” ship dynamics. For example, if you don’t include Prince Lestat in your VC headcanon, then Marius and Daniel have a different sort of (probably specifically and clearly) platonic relationship than they do if you DO include Prince Lestat.

For more specifics, check out VC Wiki, but there’s gonna be spoilers. Fair warning.

How do you think Claudia’s life would of been if she was found and turned as a teenager (like 16 or 17 years old) or found and turned at age 18 or 19? How different would her relationship be with Lestat and Louis? Do you think Claudia still would of try to kill Lestat? Do you think Armand would of still had his coven of vampires kill her?

Answered that mostly in my notp tag, in which annabellioncourt answered the aged-up Claudia question very well:

I’ve thought a lot on the Claudia/Louis thing, and while I don’t think an aged up Claudia would give a second thought to ravishing Louis, she’s a symbol for everything that horrifies him about himself, and I don’t think that that would exactly be grounds for amorous thoughts. Sure, he loves her and cares for her, but I think if she was an adult, it’d be a lot easier for him to see just how far mentally out there she is, how evil, how unable to understand human goodness she had grown to be.

With Lestat, I think it would be much the same.

I think Claudia still would have tried to kill Lestat, bc she was after his power, too, and disgruntled that he wouldn’t give them the answers about their origins as a species.

Armand still would have had his coven kill her (one could argue whether he orchestrated that or just went along with Santiago’s decision) because he wanted Louis all to himself, and knew that Louis would have a hard time ever separating himself from Claudia.

“Lestat, where is Louis? Rats are all over the place and he’s gone…” – Claudia

♛He stood with his arms folded, taking this all in, gnawing at his knuckle. It was a troubling vision, these desiccated little bodies, maybe twenty of them, scattered about the parlor. Only a few had made it unto furniture, most were on the floor. Probably flung from the door near the foyer.

Even in his most angered state, Louis could no more stand to collect those dead bodies than do so in order to bring them back to their home. No, this didn’t seem like his doing at all.

Claudia’s little heart-shaped face shone as she looked up at Lestat, her slight eyebrows merely painted worry above mischievous blue eyes. He sighed, deeply regretting that they had ever told her about Louis’ previous diet. Not that they could ever have kept it from her, fiercely inquisitive by nature, she had discovered all on her own that she could kill animals. She had a taste for pampered house cats in particular.

“Perhaps he has finally grown weary of us both, dearest.” Lestat concluded, gathering up the corpses in a wastebin. Claudia watched, leaning coquettishly in the doorframe. She didn’t respond, absorbed in her own thoughts, only her hair moving in the slight breeze disturbed the illusion that she was actually a still portrait gazing out at no one.

They can smell it, it smells like spilled blood to them, as usual… they say “Hunger is the best sauce” and that’s certainly true for Lestat (ew).

Hit the jump for the scene from canon about this (and I think it was tastefully done, no pun intended) but I warn you, what has been read cannot be unread.

“Her menses. It was being neatly collected by a pad of white cotton
between her legs.

I let myself think of it now because the menses was
heavy and the smell was overpoweringly delicious to me. It began to
torture me, the thought of licking this blood. This isn’t pure blood,
you understand, but blood is its vehicle and I felt the normal

temptation that vampires do in such circumstances, to lick the blood from
her nethermouth between her legs, a way of feeding on her that
wouldn’t harm her.

Except under the circumstances it was a perfectly outrageous and
impossible thought.”

Later: “…

that special, perfumed blood collecting
neatly between her legs.”

MUCH LATER: “

“Forgive me, forgive me,” I whispered,

…and I lapped at the blood just inside her young pink vaginal
lips, just coming from the mouth of her womb, not pure blood, but
blood from her,… blood that brought no pain, no
sacrifice, only her gentle forbearance with me, with my unspeakable
act, my tongue going deep into her, drawing out the blood that was
yet to come, gently, gently,…

…taste and smell of blood, her sweet
blood, a place where blood flows free and no wound is made or ever
needs to be made, the entrance to her blood open to me in her
forgiveness.”

Go to the book for more, I was trying to be really concise here. In the earlier part of the book when he smells it, he wants it bc blood is blood, but he can control himself and he knows it’s “a perfectly outrageous and impossible thought.”

Later, he had just gotten back from a traumatic adventure and he wanted the blood as a means of self-medication (comfort food!) as much as he needed the closeness to Dora herself. Vampires probably prefer wound blood. Maybe there are vampires who prefer it this way, though! It’s good that AR addressed the question ;]

I also have a tag with a few more posts about Dora the Nun and there’s fanart of this scene.

Nowhere in the books does it say that Daniel /doesn’t / have tattoos. Give me all the tattooed Daniel headcanons. Idk why I’m bringing this up.
