You could also ask Why did Lestat love Armand after what he did to him?
They’ve both done terrible things to each other but there’s a sense of peace now. They sort of consider themselves brothers. Deep down, I think Armand finds Lestat inspiring in his indomitable nature, and Lestat is more than a little intimidated by Armand’s intelligence and Mind Gift. They’ve both suffered a lot in their lives and afterlives and had to find reasons to go on.
Well Armand probably wouldn’t like you, if that makes you feel any better! I feel that he is essential to the series and he’s my best friend’s spirit animal so I have to defend him.
He has very specific reasons to have tension w/ Louis and Marius, you might not have gotten to that info yet 😉 Maybe you’ll change your mind about him when you get more of his background.
This is why I loved earlier canon so much more than the recent stuff, there were rich layers with characters like Armand. We first meet him in IWTV as the mysterious leader of the Theatre des Vampires, he’s unlike anyone else Louis has ever met and they are enthralled with eachother. Armand is as alluring as Lestat was to mortal!Louis, but in entirely different ways. The more we learn about Armand as we go on through canon, the more we find that he wasn’t simply a survivor of horrible crap that’s happened to him, he’s actively tried to improve his circumstances, he learns from experiences, he is a sponge for knowledge, he has major trust issues with alot of other characters, he’s got a great sense of humor but he’s also really bitter, he craves love but struggles with receiving it, just, ARMAND. SO MUCH MORE than meets the eye.
Anyway if you like Louis at all, ya gotta remember that Armand rescued him from being walled inside a coffin upside-down for eternity so… y’know… there’s that.
Keep in mind mortal!Louis suffered from claustrophobia, and still felt it as a vampire sometimes, so this would have been an even worse punishment for him.
I didn’t see the Hunger Games so idk about that character specifically but Woody Harrelson is one of my fave actors (especially in Natural Born Killers, Kingpin, White Men Can’t Jump, Zombieland). He is like 85% sass, 10% grump, and 5% extreme joy. Not things I usually associate with Marius, but then… I saw this gif, and it is very much smtg Marius would say to Lestat w/ this exact expression so… you may be onto something there… I’d screentest him.

Well a real live event would be fantastic, personally, I’d love to rent a theatre and do a screening of IWTV w/ any of the original main cast there to provide commentary during the movie or a Q&A after and that will never happen *sobs*
As far as doing a gift exchange here in tumblrland, that’s been done before and is more doable! Ppl often really love giving and receiving gifts for it, it’s a great opportunity to spread some VC fandom love and positivity and really, who doesn’t like getting gifts?

Last holiday season I co-modded the @vcsecretgifts exchange. It takes a lot of effort, mostly in trying to drum up enough interest, and then policing ppl to submit their assigned gifts (a few never did theirs, and I volunteered to fill in for one of these and still haven’t found the right inspiration to WRITE IT YET *facepalm*) I’ll ask the founder of that blog if they have the time/desire to do it w/ me again.

There are many places where this topic can be discussed, but it is NOT appropriate on a blog that is here to highlight a certain fandom and is focused on entertainment, and where I do my best to keep it politically-neutral, fair-minded, and civil. That is my prerogative on my own blog.
To address your points, which are hopefully more naive than trolling for a fight:
An actor’s/musician’s dedication to – or quality of – their craft does not eliminate the possibility that they committed crimes of repeated acts of sexual abuse of underage women. Combined with fame, acting skills and musicianship could in fact make someone a more dangerous predator. We’ve seen this happen far too often just in the last decade in the film and music industries.
The fact that we can barely find any information about these accusations could mean that the crimes are being covered up by his PR agents or whoever else, not that the crimes did not occur.
The fact that we are only now hearing about these accusations could mean any number of things, such as the victims could not come forward sooner, as is the case with many victims of this type of crime. Fear of their attacker is one possible reason; many victims are threatened into silence until they gain enough emotional support and are able to come forward with the truth.
If being “extreme” is my rationally stating my own opinion that I wouldn’t cast him if it were up to me, ok, I’m being “extreme.”
So I will restate for the 3rd time what I’ve stated 2x: Currently I don’t want a Leto!Lestat bc true or false, we don’t need that kind of baggage in our fandom, and:
There are PILES of younger actors out there who can play Lestat bc Boone wants this to be a trilogy w/ TV spinoffs and we need someone who can play 20 or 21 yrs old for a long time, and Leto altho he does not look like it is 44 yrs old.
YEP SAME HERE and that’s another reason why I am so attached to Brad’s Louis, I mean c’mon, he was in his long-haired sexy prime in the early-mid 90s. Men at the time were complaining that he was too feminine to be sexy but that’s part of what we frickin’ loved about him.
I love how in all the books, regardless of whose talking Louis is described as ‘the pretty one’. Vampires in Anne Rice novels are all described as being beautiful in some way, death making them so. But in a supernatural world populated by Beauties, characters need to spend pages gushing about Louis looks. His utter bafflement at this and the other characters gushing make me laugh every time its brought up. [X]
Casting Louis is going to be SO hard bc everyone’s headcanon varies. I want an animated movie bc fanart always depicts him better than any casting idea, for me anyway *pouts bc we will never get an animated VC movie*
Dig around in my #vc casting tag for Louis ideas, I’d rather not name picks here and open up that discussion bc I’m not really committed to the ones in my casting tag, and really, as long as he has strong chemistry with the actor cast as Lestat, we can all probably accept some physical deviations from canon.
Antonio Banderas is one of the fandom’s punching bags re: being cast as Armand in that movie, when that character is in fact described as being around 15-16 yrs old, w/ auburn hair, who looks more like a Botticelli angel than a real person. Alot of Armand fans are more than hopeful that the actor cast as Armand in the new adaptation will be more accurate to canon.
I initially felt the same way about movie!IWTV’s Banderas!Armand, that he was so very wrong. But then I considered it further and came up w/ a lot of reasons (#Defending Antonio) to justify that casting, so you can give my reasons a chance or not if you’d rather join in the fun of beating this dead horse bc I know I have my own dead horses to beat, so have at it!
