…It was late and I wanted to draw what I thought Marius and Armand’s babies would look like.
No blonde hair or blue eyes because my fandom Punnett Square is unforgiving. (But hiki, you’re talking about the offspring of two male vampires, can’t you make ONE of them mini-Marius, given that the premise is pure fantasy fuckery?)
No, because blond hair in VC so often means ridiculous behavior and I want these two to be well behaved angels. Gender/sex is ambiguous on purpose.
It’s really late when I’m typing this so mind the wacky everything-about-this-post.
[X] Idk about that guy in particular as Daniel, but still, I like the idea of Armand insisting on taking tons of selfies w/ Daniel and Daniel mostly just tolerating it on the outside (but being pretty psyched on the inside) ❤
Poor Madeleine! Did not deserve to die like that ;A; Unfortunately, I’d say she was condemned to die by proxy, being so attached to Claudia.
I don’t think Madeleine’s death was totally under Armand’s control. He was not really the leader of the TdV (see more quotes on that below the cut); in TVA Armand says: “For the record, [Claudia] was slain by my Coven of mad demon actors and actresses,… it became all too clear to too many that she had tried to murder her principal Maker, The Vampire Lestat. It was a crime punishable by death, the murdering of one’s creator or the attempt at it”
^“slain by my Coven”but not that he ordered them to do it. Just that he didn’t stop it from happening.
This is an #unreliable narrator situation again, as there are at least three different accounts of the trial that was held under TdV (see more below the cut)(four if you include the above statement from TVA). In all instances, the important part of the “trial” was that Claudia was the one who had to be convicted and sentenced to death. Louis and Madeleine were secondary concerns.
There was no explanation for why Madeleine was also condemned to death, I would suggest that Santiago (and/or Armand) wanted to kill Madeleine bc she was mad (the extent of which we don’t really know) and/or they didn’t really know what else to do with her. Santiago probably wanted to do it bc it’s thrilling to kill another vampire, as Armand pointed out in book!IWTV: “`You see,’ he said, `killing other vampires is very exciting; that is why it is forbidden under penalty of death.’
Movie!IWTV – Armand is not part of the “trial,” we see him close the door against the whole scene, and he waits until later to free Louis from his (upside-down!!! SO MEAN) imprisonment in the walled-in coffin o’ doom. So one would guess that Armand at least negotiated w/ Santiago to have Louis’ life to be spared in this way.
Book!IWTV – Armand was not present at the “trial.” Santiago seemed to be the one running that show.
Again, one would guess that Armand at least negotiated w/ Santiago beforehand.
TVL – Armand was present at the “trial” and seemed to be the one running that show, and Madeleine is not even mentioned.
In movie!IWTV, we see Armand closing the door on the screams of the condemned, and the explanation as to why he didn’t come out to help when Louis called for him? He had told Louis that he wasn’t really the leader of this coven, “But if there were a leader, I would be that one.”
In book!IWTV, similarly:
“ `Are you the leader of this group?’ [Louis] asked him. ” `Not in the way you mean leader,’ [Armand] answered. But if there were a leader here, I would be that one.’
Armand knows that to exert power, you have to defend it:
[Louis says:] “ `Stop them if you will, advise them that we don’t mean any harm.
Why can’t you do this? You say yourself we’re not your enemies, no
matter what we’ve done… ’
” I could hear him sigh, faintly. [Armand says:] `I have stopped them for the time
being,’ he said. `But I don’t want such power over them as would be
necessary to stop them entirely. Because if I exercise such power, then
I must protect it. I will make enemies. And I would have forever to
deal with my enemies when all I want here as a certain space, a certain
peace. Or not to be here at all. I accept the scepter of sorts they’ve
given me, but not to rule over them, only to keep them at a distance.‘
I know! I will love Antonio!Armand 5ever*… it’s like spydad!Armand AU ok at this point maybe not Armand so much anymore… but whatever it’s a cute thing to think about
^Armand & Allesandra <333 (I don’t ship it in canon but it has shipping potential in RP/fanfic/fanart).
*even though he’s a fandom punching bag, that’s fine, I can still love him to bits on my own *u*
LOLWHUT?! was my reaction and here’s the vid, since you made me watch it:
[X] Look, I get what she was going for, she tried to be silly! Maybe she’s seen Zach Galifianakis’ Between Two Ferns and wanted to get in on that action.
I think it’s supposed to be cringey and some ppl love that kind of comedy. I like some of his eps, others are too cringey for me.
I’m glad that she’s willing to look silly! There was a long time where she had almost no sense of humor, I mean, “I am cooperating in every way that I possibly can!” she really is!
Re: “Lestat transcends gender,” comment, idk, she probably doesn’t know the right language to use, but I think she means that gender is not a limitation for him re: pursuit of love, that he’s not restricted by his own gender (but I think he does identify as cis male). @queenofthesavagegarden is a different gendered version of that character.
I headcanon that they are pretty clean creatures, unless they have a messy kill or a particularly adventurous night 😉
They do love all kinds of creature comforts, tho, so I’d imagine Lestat especially loves baths. Louis is like a cat and has to be dragged into any body of water! Louis
dislikes unnatural chemical scents, so he doesn’t like most scented products, unless they are legitimately natural.
Louis and Lestat are my OTP. I think they can be very romantic. However, I think that Lestat constantly ruins romantic situations. The shampoo unicorn horn will ruin the sexy candlelight bath any time.
@riccardo-de-romanus is a Riccardo RPer, you might check out their archives or try to get in touch with them for Riccardo action. They use Avan Jogia as a face claim.
Anyone is free to comment/reblog this w/ their thoughts. I reached out to some ppl privately to help me with this bc I was never really all that attached to Riccardo… but yes, I thought Riccardo’s death was believable, and shocking, and heartwrenching! The fact that Armand survived that experience is a testament to his character’s strength, that he could go on after that ;A;
You’re not wrong for wanting to attach to this more or less obscure character; some RPers specifically choose less popular characters as their muse, the road less traveled and all that ;D
Other people with positive thoughts to share w/ you on Riccardo:
The thing with Riccardo that gets so tragic is that he’s one of the very few characters in TVA who’s genuinely kind and caring and not controlling or abusive in any way, he’s quite innocent, just an ordinary young man.
He welcomes Amadeo immediately and is charged with taking care of him since Riccardo is among the eldest (and Amadeo second eldest I THINK? I’ll have to look up ages). And they just become best friends/brothers and have a lot of NORMAL innocent teenage fun. So it’s like the only bits of that book which are healthy tbh xD
They pair up together for fencing because they’re evenly matched, they go to Bianca’s together and go to taverns and play cards and get drunk illicitly (XD), Riccardo helps teach him Italian and ‘rescues’ him from making a fool of himself at lessons, and they seem kind of inseparable. i think Riccardo is a few years older but I’m not sure how much.
Aaand then of course Anne uses that elaborate setup (Riccardo is really the only one of the boys she takes the time to make a distinct and familiar character) to make it THAT much more awful when he dies.
^I agree with all this. The healthiness of Marius/Amadeo vs. Riccardo/Amadeo (if that was a legit ship) is endlessly debatable.
Hit the jump, cut for length.
Re: your attachment to him, I’m noticing this more now with other obscure characters, too. There seems to be a tendency for fans to attach to characters like Riccardo who aren’t in canon as much as the major ones. I would suggest it’s because we don’t know as much about these characters, less has been written for them, and so they are available for our own projections, to some extent. If we do know their history (like Quinn) but their POV hasn’t been done as much as say, Lestat’s, maybe ppl want to know how they’re handling things that occurred outside whatever their own story was.
♛I hadn’t heard of him before your mentioning him to me, I must say… while I don’t eat meat this man is making me salivate for it. His knifework is very impressive.
