Yes, I did read it! No real spoilers under the cut, bc the short answer, about Nicolas, is No :-
Characters refer to Nicolas a few times but he’s not around. There is the theory out there that he faked his death and may yet reappear in the next book, though!
Lestat still has the letters Eleni wrote to him about the Theatre, and he writes about them: “the letters that told me of its prosperity with the Paris audiences, of Armand’s governance, and of the death of my Nicolas, my second fledgling, my only mortal friend, and my greatest failure.”
In my younger days, it was spelled "teeny boppers" and referred more to “a young teenager, especially a girl, who keenly follows the latest fashions in clothes and pop music,” especially boy bands. So… maybe the definition has changed since then? But it still comes across as strange w/ an unnecesary negative connotation the way the Anon used it.
To suggest that “going through X phase” leads to serious mental health problems is wrong on so many levels, totally separate from the fact that I am not “going through a vampire phase,” I just have a blog that is largely focused on a subject and a specific media interpretation of it, but that’s fandom. It’s not “going through a phase.” Just sharing appreciation for something using social media.
And then: “all my friends went through that phase and one has serious mental problems now.” If we take this as fact and not trolling (which it IS)(not that I want to engage in a real discussion over this):
So, that’s 1 out of how many? 2? 10? 1,000?
“serious mental problems?” What is their definition of “serious mental problems”?
Are those "serious mental problems" so awful as to be ALL considered “unsafe”?
How does Anon know the “serious mental problems” weren’t brought on by, say, genetics, a difficult family life, an aggressive duck situation, a unicycle accident, the stress brought on by the pressure of wanting to measure up to societal ideals, or, like, VIRTUALLY ANY NUMBER OF THOSE OR OTHER THINGS INDIVIDUALLY or compounded together?
It’s most likely a troll, who has become active in the last month or so, and asked me other things trying to get some kind of reaction like a little kid prodding an adult for attention.
Reminder to that Anon: I’m not required to answer anything.
YOU’RE TOO LATE YOUR PROPHECY HAS COME TO PASS I AM A “TEEN BOPPER” IN TOO DEEP BC I CANNOT SEPARATE FICTION FROM REALITY WHY THE FRACK DIDN’T YOU MESSAGE ME SOONER???!!11!
It was a Wednesday so it was necessary to celebrate on BOTH weekends before and after, bc, you know, I can’t possibly go to work and then have enough free time to celebrate my fabulous existence on a WEEK WEAK NIGHT.
And THANK U FOR YOUR LOYALTY you’ve been on board this crazy train since 8/30/15!
@i-want-my-iwtv Thought you and the rest of the fandom might want to see this, about 4/5 down from the new interview! Director Josh Boone basically just confirmed himself (instead of the other source I had earlier) that the new film WILL be an adaption of The Vampire Lestat, but will have tiny bits of influence from other books (I’m assuming he means IWTV and QTD). He also said he’s aiming for a trilogy AND a spin-off tv series! Super exciting!
Your synopsis was gr9, but I must have it from his own words (my highlights):
I trust this man. Why? It appear that he’s not rushing into it to make the $$$, he’s doing it bc he respects and has affection for the source material, dating back from his youth. “These were hugely inspiring books when I was young. They really helped shape me the same way [Stephen King]’s books did.”
He is totally in the VC fandom, an honorary member. He just may not know it yet ;]
LOOKIT THE WAY HE TAGGED UP THE STAND TO PREP IT FOR ADAPTATION THAT IS SOME SERIOUS FAN LOVIN’ [X]
^He’s gonna take care of us similarly ❤
Reasons (in no particular order) why I trust Josh Boone w/ this adaptation, from his IG account:
Hit the jump.
^Mentions the VC in his IG caption. It would appear that he’s honored to be part of it! Also he shares his icon pic w/ Stephen King, and really, Stephen King is also one of my faves for his amazing storytelling abilities, I mean, I just don’t even have words for what he does, but he seems to come from a similar place that AR did, they were both steeped in the horror media of their youth and he alchemizes through his own unique filter and GOLD COMES OUT. A different flavor of gold than AR’s, for sure, but they are comparable.
^He collects the old industry magazines, old publicity from the time period. He keeps himself updated on horror movie FX and topics so he’s not just gonna give us some shitty 90′s eye makeup, slap on a pair of fangs and a wierd accent and expect us to swoon. LIKE SOME MOVIES HAVE DONE.
^Like seriously he takes care of his books, and he has the nice hardcover editions.
Daddy/daughter sci fi movie night too cute. TOO CUTE. E.T. is worth 50+ viewings, absolutely.
Gonna restrain myself from suggesting he cast his adorable daughter as Claudia. But if he wanted to do it, I would certainly not stand in his way.
YEP was very amusing, even as an unintentional reference. This scene was SO Louis/Lestat. I bet you all know who would be who…
^Thor’s was good, but Lestat’s “Shut up!“ is better. To be fair, Thor hasn’t been pushed far enough in that scene for that level of reaction yet.
Would have liked Lestat to try more of Thor’s physical kind of silencing, tho sorry this was the best gif of this I could find and I searched for AGES but there are better ones out there I’m sure:
Bonus: Outtake from that Thor scene where he is also being rather Lestatuesque:
Well for a little appetizer, Sting’s “Moon Over Bourbon St.” was inspired by IWTV! It’s from Louis’ POV.
And of course there’s “Arsonist’s Lullaby” by Hozier, which reminds me of Louis who kinda has a thing for fire…
“Someone edited R.E.M.’s “Losing My Religion” to be in major instead of minor and it is absurd.” [X] Very much reminds me of Lestat! Give it a listen, be patient w/ it, it’s worth the effort!
I have so many VC feels w/ music, can you be more specific? You might find what you’re looking for here:
Music Lestat motorcycles to – Music and music-related things he loves, pics that he might have taken on long rides (like this one), some of which don’t have lyrics that are specifically Lestatuesque, but he gets smtg out of them, whether it be the beats, melodies, singer’s voices, etc.
VC Fanmix – fanmixes others have done for certain ships or characters (or mixes that seemed VC-adjacent to me).
