IDK about other kinds, but Ricean vampires would have face, head, and body hair at the length and placement it was when they died (the texture and color of the hair does change slightly, and hair dyes would not remain permanent).
Jesse mentions being groomed before she’s turned. So those stray eyebrow hairs wouldn’t keep growing back for eternity.
There would be a nightly choice of shaving the face or not, if one had a beard when they were turned, and it would only grow back to the length it was the night they died. Which is partly why we never see movie!Louis trimming his sideburns, they won’t get longer. He could shave them off but they’d grow back.
[X] ^Lookit this bearded cutie trying on his fangs awwww… ❤
Lestat doesn’t mention having or being able to grow a beard.
Sorry, I’ve had this for 2 months, but it’s too broad a question, too many characters to think about! I think it varies for different vampires at different times in their lives and unlives.
Louis didn’t get very excited about Christmas until Claudia. She had been with them for only a few months, and then Christmas was upon them. Lestat transformed the parlor and courtyard into a little winter wonderland, Claudia was excited about that (and she put up a fight in March when he said they should really take it down), and she had a stack of presents under the tree on Christmas night.
Her first priority was giving Louis his gift, which was a pack of drawings bound in a soft leather portfolio Lestat had picked out with her. Drawings she had done of him, Lestat, their little family, their house. He was deeply touched, and few Christmas gifts ever topped it. It was at that moment that he finally understood the point of that holiday and his anticipation for that kind of moment does build, he gets into the spirit of it with everyone else *u*
Armand is the best at masking his presence/thoughts because he had centuries of practice hiding his heart from Santino.
Armand may be one of the best of the coven at his mind gifts, true. Lestat is very intimidated by Armand’s abilities ;D
I had to think about this a lot, maybe I’m misreading your comment. Hiding his heart from Santino (& Co.) for centuries? I’m not sure if he could do that.
I would need to reread TVA. Just because Armand may not have believed in that religion, he may have eventually had feelings for his “teachers” there, and shared his heart to some extent. Why else be so passionate about trying to get rid of Lestat in TVL, so the Children of Darkness could go on with business as usual? If Armand was really that miserable, he could have killed himself, but he didn’t. When he became a coven master himself, he would have had even more freedom to do so if he really wanted to.
♛Some might describe my default disposition as “immature,” when it’s really more that I’m just easily amused. “Immature.” What a little word. So limiting. Considering the avalanche of shit I’ve hacked my way through, I hardly think “immature” describes me.
[X] My sense of humor? It’s detailed in my first book. Anything can set me off. All still true. Something I didn’t have then: short internet videos, Vines, these things are amazing and the coven all send me links to the best.
Who’s easily amused? Daniel, David, Marius, Jesse. In that order. Jesse and I have inside jokes that are facial expressions only.
I put the “fun” in “funeral,” and the “laughter” in “slaughter,” but I make every attempt to stifle it when it’s truly inappropriate. It can sometimes improve a situation. Intimate moments where I’m trying my best to be sensual and attentive, something about the language of seduction, verbal or physical, might strike me as overly serious and I can’t help but giggle at the pretentiousness of it all. I’ll get playful criticism from the object of my affection, and then we may give up on the seriousness of it all, opting instead to come up with taunting terms of endearment for each other, and having less control entirely.
My favorite of all types of humor? Nobody makes me laugh like I do. My own sense of humor is my favorite. What’s my sense of humor? Something pointed and sharp at times, soft and generous at other times. Everything in between. Children’s jokes can slay me.
Armand makes me laugh harder than anyone else. Even when he’s being cruel to me. Probably the same principle as mentioned already, that in his seriousness, he almost seems to be playing a role, and I can’t help but see it as a caricature. If it were real emotion, real care, it could fracture something inside me, something buried deep.
I have a little treat for you first, the voice of Nicolas! Well, kinda sorta.
[X ^ This is model Tomek Szczukiecki who looks hella more mysterious w/ his face cropped like dis]
@devilsviolinist had posted this audio clip of Nicolas’ normal/contented voice, and @colourful-jack informed us that it is in fact ballet dancer Jonathan Klein [audio from this vid here]. While Klein does not look at all like Nicolas, listen to the audio clip, the voice is great!
I have to consider the others some more but I didn’t want to make you wait any longer for at least some reply ;]
I’m so flattered that you want my headcanon *cries* So I’ll do Nicolas now, Armand in the next one ;] Previously: Louis.
Same disclaimer: #your headcanon may vary.
Nicolas is often compared to Louis, and I do see them as both being thin men, almost 6 ft tall, not huge in the muscle department, and they have similar hair color and texture (dark and wavy to their shoulders). They also both carry themselves in a fairly dignified manner, they both have long legs and yes, nice butts. But the differences are very apparent when:
A) You are within a few feet from them: Nicolas is more fidgety, often crossing and uncrossing his legs, changing positions, gesturing more when speaking. He has wider shoulders than Louis, and is small-waisted due to a high metabolism in life, he ate an enormous amount of food w/o any consequences. Not athletically inclined, just great genetics (altho I picture his dad as very barrel-shaped, which was part of why he liked to dress his son up so much, better model!). Conversely, Louis was malnourished and the quality and amount of what he was willing to eat/drink would have ended him if he hadn’t found someone else to do it first.
B) You take off their clothes: Nicolas’ high metabolism and hearty appetite (even in Paris, he was eating that great French bread and wine) made for muscles like a racehorse. More for savory than sweet; I don’t imagine Nicolas as having much of a preference for pastries, which he would eat only bc Lestat was something of a foodie and brought treats home now and then.
I would also imagine Nicolas is darker-skinned than Louis and Lestat, and this complexion further defines his muscles, especially when his skin is wet, all those sharp edges really shine ❤
[X] ^I couldn’t find a good human body as an example so here’s a thoroughbred. Not this dark color for his skin, example is for the muscle definition. Nicolas would not have been a horse that would let many ppl ride him, tho.
C) When you get very close to them: Nicolas has a sprinkling of birthmarks that are not mentioned in canon, which form constellations mainly on his face, neck, chest, and arms. Louis might have these too, but a lot less. Lestat liked to trace connections with his finger when they were in bed together and Nicolas secretly loved that ❤
^Kylo Ren has these facial birthmarks.
Also, differently from Louis’ blazing green eyes: I don’t think Nicolas’ eye color is mentioned in canon, EDIT: “His brown eyes were very big and trusting.”… “large sober brown eyes” I always pictured them as that great light brown w/ dark limbal rings that absorbs all the light in the area, almost gold in sunlight:
[X] He also has long eyelashes, longer than Louis’ eyelashes, and along those lines, for performances at the theatre, I headcanon that he let Lestat apply some guyliner for dramatic effect ;] Not that he needed it, but that he liked Lestat giving him that kind of special attention.
Ummmm I’m 99% sure he’s ever mentioned cutting it in canon, he’s far too in love with it to cut it ;} It’s sort of his security blanket.
I headcanon that he does style it, he’s braided it like Thor, he’s into trendy accessories and sparkly clips, he’s dyed colorful streaks into it. He’s very into the manbun fad as long as there’s a lot of front pieces loose:
my storytelling final! or, that week i almost went blind cross-hatching!
it’s a couple weeks old at this point, but i’m still proud of it (all that cross-hatching…) even though looking back at it now i can see a ton of flaws or things i just could’ve done better. maybe i’ll redo it one day.
the page colors are kind of wonky because they’re photographs; i didn’t have a scanner big enough for the pages.
What you’re asking is not written explicitly in canon, iirc, but fandom has generally accepted the following info, maybe bc AR told us over the years? I don’t remember when we were told…
Lestat’s birthday is November 7, the birthday of Anne Rice’s late husband Stan (whom she partially modeled Lestat after).
Louis’ birthday is October 4, which is Anne’s birthday.
