‘I want the K.’

faceofabotticelliangel:

12. Wet Kiss

It was raining when it happened.

Lestat is awake again, but this time she hasn’t left. And Armand means to criticize her, demean her of her motherly rights because she has never been there out of all the beings on this planet and above that Lestat could ever cry for. No, it’s always been her. She ignores him when he brings it up, spits acidic words back at him when he comes forward out of the safety of the Rue Royale and joins her soaked form beneath the stormy skies.

“You are a liar and a bitch, for lack of a better word, if you think you can use the veil as an excuse for not hearing him after all these years. Once in the chapel and not again since!”

She is opening her mouth to spit back, or avoid answering to her crime when Armand adds, “It’s hard to believe he still loves you…when no one else has the heart to.”

Thunder cracks in the distance, and Gabrielle, always unnervingly honest in her expressions, is stunned. And yet..so is he. As if they had both opened a plane of understanding in just that moment—yes, you were once unloved by all but him too.

He forgets what happened after the next thunder crack, but his hands are caressing her back and cupping her cheek, her head tilted gently into him when Armand realizes he’s kissing Lestat’s mother. The woman who turned him away after her son redeemed him, their mouths open and wet against each other and devolving into smaller, almost apologetic kisses. He For a brief moment, he forgets he hates this woman down to the very marrow of her bones.

That’s where the memory stops. They’ve never spoken of it, but somehow it pops into Armand’s head whenever she turns her cold, icy glare on him.

♡ : Is there a certain scent that brings about nostalgia? If so, describe a memory this scent brings back.

In Depth Headcanon Prompts; Set 1

The first scent I recognized in my life was my mother’s perfume, no matter what day or what hour she always had this scent of roses around her, it was a scent that helped me feel safe, when she was no longer with us I used to spread her perfume all over the sheets, that was the only way I could sleep, even years later, when I moved to Venice, I used to keep a good quantity of bottles in my house, it may not have been the scent I was most recognized for, but it was one I needed to smell once a day to recover my strength.

It is not exactly a memory what it brings, but a sensation of protection, a reminder of many things, fuel to continue. Nowadays it reminds me that no matter how much I live I am still Bianca, I am still myself.

Hi, do you think that Lestat could have or could have had bipolar depression? Or is it more of a vampire trait that some of them sometimes bury themselves underground, and don’t have the will or the strength to go on? Thanks :)

The short answer is Yes.

I think vampires going underground is a metaphor for when people need to withdraw from society and practice self-care. A kind of convalescence. I think that’s why AR has made such a big point about it, in terms of vampire physiology, that those who suffer physical/emotional damage and then go underground for periods of time end up much stronger for it. Same can be said of people, right?

Oh absolutely, Lestat could have bipolar depression, or manic depression, at the very least post-traumatic stress disorder… he had a very abusive childhood (and some fanfic speculates he had a history of sexual abuse as well as emotional & physical abuse).

The reason and manner in which Lestat was “given” the Dark Gift would be considered rape, as well, so even if his mortal life had been relatively normal, it wouldn’t be surprising if he developed stress-related emotional issues and coping mechanisms bc of that experience. Plus a lot of other traumatic experiences all within a short time of his turning (the forced breakup with Nicki, turning Nicki, Oedipal issues with Gabrielle, Akasha, etc).

The fact that he did the same thing to David Talbot so much later on shows just how true the line that one of those vampires said, and I’m paraphrasing, “As we go on, we become more truly ourselves.” Clearly what Magnus did to Lestat is still fresh in his mind, always there, regardless of his many triumphs in the face of adversity.

The way Lestat treated Louis and Claudia in IWTV was similar to how his father and brothers treated him growing up, who knows how much of that was nature or nurture, but the de Lioncourt men seem to have a certain attitude that’s hard to shake.

What do you love most about Lestat?

merciful-death:

My muse HAS to answer everything truthfully for one hour, starting now!

It is impossible to expect me to give one definitive answer.  To love in such a manner, it is not a matter of picking favorite traits.

I love his vigor.  He’s not one to allow himself to become bored or secluded easily.  He does not think before he acts.  He simply does, and I have always envied him for being able to live in such a way.

I love his capacity to love others.  Lestat sees in humanity all of the positives, of which I also cannot claim to fathom for myself.  He sees beauty in all.  There is no being in this world that he does not feel is important in some way.

I love the forgiveness that he is capable of giving.

I love his seductiveness, his tenderness, and even his cruelty.

I love him as a whole.

Hello! Just a random question on a random observation. in the IWTV movie during Louis’ change he has blood on his lips that disappears when he ‘pretties up’ from the change. Do you have any idea as to why the blood disappears?

Yeah, I think that in that situation, the blood was absorbed through his skin, being a fresh vampire… You can absorb the liquid parts of blood as a human, and as a vampire he can absorb the other, “nutritious parts,” too, perhaps. Plus it’s vampire blood, and it WANTS to be absorbed.

Lestat at Present

askthebratprince:

I’ve been meaning to post a lengthy headcanon about Lestat for awhile now. Specifically, one that involves how he is currently. It all began perhaps a year or so ago when a post came to my attention: an update on our favourite Vampires straight from the author’s mouth. She specifically pointed out that Lestat was alone and not with the others. This seemed out of place to me, since Lestat is quite the social being that craves companionship. So I began to wonder…

Why? Why is he alone? What could have possibly happened that he is now away from Louis, David, Marius, and all the others?

There was only one answer that I could see. Lestat finally must have done something that ended with the others not wanting to have a thing to do with him. Why else would he not be pursuing them in some way?
Since he was turned in Paris, and perhaps even before then, Lestat began digging this metaphorical hole down and away from all those who ever once cared about him. It was as if he was searching for some buried treasure, some prize and would do anything to get to it more expediently. Thus, he never thinks how his actions will affect others. Never. So all his mistakes, all his “adventures” have dug this hole deeper and deeper.

However, there has always been a ladder that was lowered down into this hole, and his friends, companions, and would descend it to try and convince him to, to help him to climb out. First, it was his mother, then Nicolas, then even Armand, and then Marius. Next, it was Louis and then David, who would descend down into this metaphorical hole several times, more than others ever would. Both of them, leaving a lantern, reminded Lestat of what he could have at the surface. If he would just listen to them for once.

Then that something happened. What that something is, I’ve yet to figure out, but whatever Lestat did, it was the straw that broke the camel’s back, as they say. And then his way out of this hole was gone. The ladder was removed, the lantern snuffed out, leaving Lestat with only a fleeting reminder of what was and what could have been: the dim light from the entrance of the hole he had dug himself.

This broke him, no doubt sending him into some kind of mental break, and now he has to find his own way out; to find some way to begin making up for all the wrongs he has done.

And Lestat does this alone.

You know that Anne Rice’s vampires don’t have sex? They are basicly asexuals because they don’t feel lust for sex, only for blood.

I have read the series. I’m aware. For some reason, and it’s probably unintentional on your part, Anon, but it seeeeems like you have some kind of issue with this?

They still do feel sexual lust, it’s channeled through the experience of taking/sharing blood.

Alot of fanfic writers and VC RPers just ignore the canon asexuality and let the Ricean vampires have sex however they want. Some have very creative headcanons about it. I for one enjoy reading it.

In terms of VC CANON, however:

  • They’re asexual in that they aren’t described as having penetrative sex.
  • Unless your headcanon is that they do and they can, in which case Anne Rice decided to just leave it out for whatever reason. Some people think this is the case. *shrugs*
  • However… physiologically it would make sense that the Ricean vampires do not procreate in this manner because they procreate via the Dark Gift. At that time, the mortal body *dies*, transformed and frozen from further change/development. Male vampires would be shooting blanks (if they shoot anything at all) because they can’t make new sperm; female vampires wouldn’t be producing eggs, and wouldn’t have the organs to be able to grow a baby.

I think that reproductive obstacle is why Anne Rice made the choice that they could BE sexual, but not in a reproductive way.

Anon, the definition of sex is different for everyone who does it. The Ricean vampires can do tons of other very sensual/sexual things. Who says that a penis in a vagina (or anywhere else) is the only legitimate definition of sex? Sex cannot be totally defined by the dictionary definition, when it’s such a widely interpreted issue.

You know how there’s those posts where they symbolise how each character would do something, like the Salem the cat post for the vampires? Do you have any ideas like that for how each of the characters would dance?

Oh gosh… hmmmm… I’ll think about this. In the meantime, I’ll toss it out for others to try their hand at.

For now, take this:
