I thought Bob was Lestat

lmfao I feel like he can’t be Lestat here literally and entirely because the words “I’m married” pass his lips as an objection to engaging in relations

Lestat is in fact married but this would interfere with his whims zero percent of the time

Lestat + monogamy = …. an enormous struggle. Louis thought Lestat dead at this point, but he was committed to Claudia, platonically. 

And yes, Bob was Lestat in the previous vid, but the dialogue worked better for Louis in this one! I’d love to use a Bob/Lin interaction that could translate as Lestat/Louis, tho…

This movie was shot in Wellington!!

This movie was also released there first and my jealousy as I waited in the US for it – for a LONG TIME – was quite enormous. 

This movie (and Only Lovers Left Alive, at the other end of the emotional spectrum) was the VC movie we’ve been waiting for. It had humor, seriousness, vampire physiology… it was a whole package of awesome. 

I hear that they’re considering doing a werewolf-centered sequel, “What We Do in the Moonlight.”

To my embarrassment, I still haven’t seen it! Despite knowing a couple of people involved! And my mom telling me “oh you’ll love it, it’s very ~Wellington~*”

But I loved Only Lovers Left Alive when I finally saw it recently, so I will certainly take your rec.

*she means “very hipster” – she lives in Wellington too, but wouldn’t call herself “very ~Wellington~”, that’s her phrase for me and my friends with our hip arts.

You should see it. Sounds like your mom got it right, btw, very ~vampires~ in ~Wellington~ 😉

I’m confused! Louisiana is in USA as well as New Orleans but Lestat is French and Louis too…… I don’t get it!

Movie!IWTV sorta gives the impression that Louis was born in New Orleans and only briefly has Lestat admitting to coming from France. They are actually both from France! (and BTW, New Orleans is a city in Louisiana, which is a state in the USA).

The Pointe du Lacs came to the US from France at some unspecified point in his life, but most people headcanon it was when Louis was a young child, too young to remember.

  • “We’d received a land grant and settled two indigo plantations on the Mississippi very near New Orleans… You see, we lived far better there than we could have ever lived in France.” – Louis de Pointe du Lac, IWTV

The de Lioncourts* lived in a poor provincial town in the middle of nowhere, aka the Auvergne region, in France:

  • “…my father’s land in the Auvergne in France, and these were the last decades before the French Revolution.” – Lestat de Lioncourt, TVL

*Note that Lestat’s mother was Italian (she grew up in Naples) so he and his brothers are all technically half-French, half-Italian.

Her superglue hands are a common joke in Germany and I couldn’t help myself but bursting out in laughter when I saw Louis.

YES do the thing! I’m starting to think this was smtg Neil Jordan did alot on set and they all found themselves mimicking him, BUT WHO KNOWS??
