Would vampires have body hair? Like would their bodies go back to whatever natural form they have or would it stay the way it is trimmed when they were changed.

IDK about other kinds, but Ricean vampires would have face, head, and body hair at the length and placement it was when they died (the texture and color of the hair does change slightly, and hair dyes would not remain permanent).

Jesse mentions being groomed before she’s turned. So those stray eyebrow hairs wouldn’t keep growing back for eternity.

There would be a nightly choice of shaving the face or not, if one had a beard when they were turned, and it would only grow back to the length it was the night they died. Which is partly why we never see movie!Louis trimming his sideburns, they won’t get longer. He could shave them off but they’d grow back.

[X] ^Lookit this bearded cutie trying on his fangs awwww… ❤

Lestat doesn’t mention having or being able to grow a beard.

I answered this a little more in depth here.

Where do you get all the cut scene images? Are they from the dvd?

My cut scene images are the collection I’ve gathered over the years, from all over the interwebs. There are very few extras on the DVD and I have legit confirmation that Neil Jordan has been told that we want cut scenes, and he’s considering releasing them. The DVD has director commentary and some behind the scenes stuff as videos, those are probably on YT, too.

[^This guy should not be so close to Louis when he’s hungry.]

One place that has a TON of great stuff is Sara’s Shrine to the Vampire Chronicles, run by @thesaramonster. I have hesitated in sharing the link before now bc ppl will probably just download the pics and repost them, but @thesaramonster wants the traffic anyway. Please include the source link if you repost from her.

I was scrolling through your posts when I saw a production still of Louis wearing that coat he wears when he and Claudia arrive in Paris and he’s in a cemetery, maybe a cemetery in Paris? Is there any explanation for this production still? I’ve never seen it before.

That is a fabulous coat.

[X] Possibly a teensy ref to Lestat’s fur-lined cloak in TVL? Not fluffy enough to be wolf, but hopefully fake fur for the movie.

This is the image you referred to (it appears that he’s wearing the same coat with jacket underneath as in the screencap above):

I don’t know of any cemeteries that have multiple levels like that, what is that, stadium seating?, definitely not in NOLA (at least one of the cemeteries in NOLA is that crowded tho). There is a scene in one version of the script (thanks @thesaramonster!) that mentions a graveyard in Transylvania of course, when Claudia and Louis are on their own, searching for other vampires:

MONTAGE OF SKETCHES

A TRANSLYVANIAN VILLAGE, A GRAVEYARD.

RUINED CASTLE AFTER CASTLE, LOOKING INTO THE SKIES…

LOUIS
The quest for these Old World
vampires filled me with bitterness.

We searched village after village,
ruin after ruin and I was glad when
always we found nothing. For what
could the damned really have to say
to the damned?

^So I don’t think Neil Jordan tried to include the scene in the book where they find and kill a zombpire, but that production still might have been sort of a reference to it.

But it’s especially sad that Louis still has that coat after Claudia’s been killed ;A;

Can you imagine how painful it would have been, returning to the hotel room he shared with Claudia, all her clothes and accessories exactly as they were when she left it last? ;A;

Ah, Louis. I have claustrophobia as well. So instead I sleep in a moselieum.

♠I no longer have the issue with enclosed spaces as I once did, it was a vestigial fear from my past, but one of the things that helped me at that time was focusing on something else, even a small object like a ring or buttons could help reduce my anxiety.

Mausoleums can vary greatly in size, but the ones I am most familiar with are the small structures we had in New Orleans where members of my family are buried. The angel statue here was my mother’s idea, she always adored angels.

I think “a” is used because it makes more sense in context? Louis’ story isn’t really one about a vampire in isolation, we get introduced to a whole bunch of vampires! And it also emphasises that his point of view isn’t the most important, as you said he’s just one among many and the book never pretends otherwise.

“A” is used in some translations, I don’t know why.

True, it is a story about a whole bunch of vampires. Why am I so picky about this… “a” just sounds wrong to me, y’know?

It ends with Louis as a vampire in isolation. Has he isolated himself to prevent himself from being manipulated by others? Or to prevent himself from hurting others? There’s plenty of reasons to isolate oneself.

Part of the point of “the” is probably that Louis actually is more special than he thinks. Like AR herself, he passively let a lot of things happen in his life, but did grow throughout the course of the novel, and by the end he’s very much gained his own autonomy, in ways he himself may not even fully realize. I think this is why AR never wrote a whole novel from his POV again, she had pretty much exorcised those demons.

[^X scan @thesaramonster]

It was also a great way to piss Lestat off, how dare Louis refer to himself as “THE” vampire. Lestat makes it very clear that he’s the one that should have been interviewed, giving himself “The” as the very first word in the title of his novel ;]

Lestat is a Capricorn but there’s no information on Louis’ birthday. I always think that he’s a Cancer or Pisces. What do you think? lol

What you’re asking is not written explicitly in canon, iirc, but fandom has generally accepted the following info, maybe bc AR told us over the years? I don’t remember when we were told…

image
  • Lestat’s birthday is November 7, the birthday of Anne Rice’s late husband Stan (whom she partially modeled Lestat after).
  • Louis’ birthday is October 4, which is Anne’s birthday.
  • Claudia mentions her birthday in her diary (in QOTD) as being September 21, but she’s not sure if that’s really her birthday and her dads won’t explain it further

(it’s probably the day she was turned, given the context of the diary entry). That’s Michele Rice’s birthday, Anne’s late daughter.

So Lestat is a Scorpio and Louis is a Libra. I don’t know much about astrology, you’ll have to take it from there, anon!

How do you feel about the rumors that Jared Leto will be the lead in the upcoming Vampire Chronicles?! My brain is still trying to wrap itself around the new book and the fact they’re making a new film adaptation for the series.

*Although I may have acted somewhat excited about it a few months ago (and I don’t want to edit the post bc that’s a time capsule as to how I felt then), currently I don’t want a Leto!Lestat bc of the accusations against Leto, which you can google yourself bc I’m NOT going there. True or false, we don’t need that kind of baggage in our fandom, and there are PILES of younger actors out there who can play Lestat bc Boone wants this to be a trilogy w/ TV spinoffs and we need someone who can play 20 or 21 yrs old for a long time, and Leto altho he does not look like it is 44 yrs old.
