I’m confused! Louisiana is in USA as well as New Orleans but Lestat is French and Louis too…… I don’t get it!

Movie!IWTV sorta gives the impression that Louis was born in New Orleans and only briefly has Lestat admitting to coming from France. They are actually both from France! (and BTW, New Orleans is a city in Louisiana, which is a state in the USA).

image

The Pointe du Lacs came to the US from France at some unspecified point in his life, but most people headcanon it was when Louis was a young child, too young to remember.

  • “We’d received a land grant and settled two indigo plantations on the Mississippi very near New Orleans… You see, we lived far better there than we could have ever lived in France.” – Louis de Pointe du Lac, IWTV

The de Lioncourts* lived in a poor provincial town in the middle of nowhere, aka the Auvergne region, in France:

  • “…my father’s land in the Auvergne in France, and these were the last decades before the French Revolution.” – Lestat de Lioncourt, TVL

*Note that Lestat’s mother was Italian (she grew up in Naples) so he and his brothers are all technically half-French, half-Italian.

When it comes to women, his words are the only thing that shows that he might have any interest. His body language, actions, tone, all contradict any infatuation he may have with a female. The only reason why he would express an interest in a female is because he loves the idea of love. However he seems genuinely more in love with himself and other male characters before he is in love with a woman.

Relationship-characteristics of the character Lélio x

…why am I not surprised? XD

Someone edited R.E.M.’s “Losing My Religion” to be in major instead of minor and it is absurd.

That’s me in the corner 😀
That’s me in the spot 😀 light 😀

Losing my religion XDDD

Marius: “To be godless is probably the first
step to innocence, to lose the sense of sin and subordination, the false grief
for things supposed to be lost.”

Lestat:
“So by innocence you mean not an absence of experience, but an absence of
illusions.”

Marius:
“An absence of need for illusions. A love of and respect for what is right
before your eyes.”

Interview with the Vampire (book) Sentence Starters

I’m in a mood, so here’s another sentence meme.

“Evil is always possible.”
“The world chances, we do not, therein lies the irony that kills us.”
“Evil is a point of view.”
“God kills, and so shall we.”
“The only power that exists is inside ourselves.”
“Goodness is eternally difficult.”
“And sometimes i found myself so vividly aware of him it was as if he had only just left the room and the ring of his voice were still there.”
“Whether a man would die tomorrow or the day after or eventually… it doesn’t matter.”
“I knew I was home.”
“I walked the streets.”
“Do you know what it means to be loved by Death?”
“Do you know what it means to have Death know your name?”
“Don’t you see?”
“I’m at odds with everything and always have been!”
“I have never belonged anywhere with anyone at any time!”
“I love you still, that’s the torment of it.”
“The measure of my hatred is that love.”
“Do you know now how much I hate you?”
“Don’t be a fool for the Devil, darling.”
“You see that old woman?”
“You will never grow old, and you will never die.”
“I shall never ever grow up.”
“Let the flesh instruct the mind.”
“A starving child is a frightful sight.”
“I want you. I want you more than anything in the world.”
“Mortal beauty often makes me ache.”
“That is the crowning evil, that we can even go so far as to love each other, you and I.”
“Who else, knowing us as we know each other, could do anything but destroy us?”
“I look like an angel, but I’m not.”
“We’re beautiful like the diamond-backed snake, or the striped tiger, yet we’re merciless killers.”
“You know nothing.”
“And we must live with the knowledge that there is no knowledge.”
“But I can’t hate you, my love.”
“Now it’s time to leave him.”
“What does it mean to die when you can live until the end of the world?”
“I wanted love and goodness.”
“It was my death.”
“I saw my last sunrise.”
“And then I said farewell to sunlight, and set out to become what I became.”
“You haven’t tears enough for what you’ve done to me.”
“I might have known what it was to walk at your side.”
“Aren’t there gradations of evil?”
“Is evil a great perilous gulf into which one falls with the first sin, plummeting to the depth?”
“I never changed after that.”
“I was satisfied. I was filled to the brim. But I was dead. And I was changeless.”
“You are the night, and the night alone understands you and enfolds you in its arms.”
“How could you believe in these old fantastical lies, these myths, these emblems of the supernatural?”
“My power would be your power.”
“I have the dreadful feeling that I don’t exist at all.”
“I shudder when I’m near you.”
“You cannot pass back to the world of human warmth with your new eyes.”
“Not a wild, mortal fear, but something cold like a hook in my side.”
“I wish I could.”
“You reflect your age differently. You reflect its broken heart.”
“Killing is no ordinary act.”
“Only the doll had a human face, only the doll.”
“Well, I tell you I am no longer that passive, weak creature that has spun evil from evil until the web is vast and thick while I remain its stultified victim.”
“It’s over!”

In The Vampire Lestat, didn’t Lestat describe his eyes changing color to a much more grey-blue type color?

“My eyes are gray, but they absorb the colors blue or violet easily from surfaces around them.” – TVL

His first study of his own reflection after being turned: “and my eyes had been transformed from their usual blue to a mingling of violet and cobalt that was softly iridescent.” – TVL

[fanart by theivorywolf]

Magnus, in TVL: “…and the blue sky fixed forever in your eyes.” Magnus, TVL

So Lestat’s eyes:

  • had this effect as a mortal and looked blue to Magnus; or
  • were actually blue as a mortal and not gray-blue-violet-magical until he was turned; or
  • really were always closer to gray-blue than just gray.

This is if we trust Magnus, do we really? IIRC, it’s the only description we have of mortal!Lestat’s eye color. IDK! Lestat supposedly shares his mother’s features

and coloring

(”In fact I resemble her at least superficially.” TVL) and she is described as having blue eyes:

Lestat, in TVL about mortal!Gabrielle: “And she had very clear cobalt blue eyes fringed with thick ashen lashes.”

Khayman, in QOTD: “There wasn’t a particle of fear in her cold blue eyes…”

Lestat, in TVL about vampire!Gabrielle:
“Her eyes opened. Violet blue and glittering,”

Okay so I can’t dig up every single quote about Lestat’s eyes from other’s POVs bc c’mon I am human, so here’s a few:

Marius, in QOTD:  “The ice-blue eyes, darkening with laughter…”

Khayman, in QOTD: “… [Lestat’s] violet blue eyes.”

Jesse, in QOTD: “[Lestat’s] pale crystalline blue eyes…”

Akasha, in QOTD:  “to see the light in your blue  eyes,”

First up – love the blog. You do a great job with it all and make me laugh, sometimes so manically that I scare those around me. So thank you. Secondly, I require your (and anyone else’s) help. I’m currently designing some cross-stitch bookmarks to sell on Etsy. I’m thinking of doing a few VC designs (esp for the first 3 books and movie), but am lost for ideas! Perhaps the titles of the books? If you could provide me with any quotes, phrases or images to use I would be very grateful! Thank you!

Merci beaucoup! Good to know I am achieving the goals of interruptive-laughter-causing and bursting blood vessels through fanworks! ❤ YOU SHALL CONTINUE TO GET MORE OF THIS HIGH QUALITY MADNESS.

Cross-stitch bookmarks with VC quotes! I admit that my initial reaction is Yes DO THE THING!

Second reaction, must warn you, this type of fanwork is toeing the line of copyright infringement… :-

HOWEVER, I have seen Etsy items (and other sites) that have products which used VC quotes over the years, so I’m thinking that quotes may be acceptable… or not worth the legal battle to the copyright holders.

Here’s an example of one thing I found just now

image

It’s a decorative tile that says: “Your body’s dying. Pay no attention. It happens to us all.” which is a movie!IWTV quote, not canon. It even has Lestat’s name on it, since he says it, and it’s sitting there for sale. I feel like you’re safer with movie quotes, but it’s your choice.

So as far as things to use for your bookmarks, dig around in my #quote and #actual quote tags.

As far as a few of my fave movie!IWTV quotes…

  • I’m flesh and blood, but not human. I haven’t been human for 200 years.
  • I’m going to give you the choice – I – never had.
  • You can pretend it’s wine.
  • I know nothing of God, or the Devil. I have never seen a vision, nor learned a secret, that would damn or save my soul. And as far as I know, after 400 yrs, I am the oldest living vampire in the world.
  • Merciful Death, how you love your precious guilt.
  • I want some more.

Anyone have any quotes they want on bookmarks? Send it to andwefaeries!
