How do you feel about corsets? Also, how do you clean your coffin Lestat?

(An ex-Lestat RPer wrote this lovely headcanon re: “What was the most arousing moment you’ve ever experienced?”  that I will share with you! Will answer the second question separately.)

Mortcharmant: “My— What an intrusive question,  étranger gris. But I shall humour you none the less…”

“I would have to say it was the night I allowed a delightful mademoiselle to put her corset on me. How it tightened and constricted was glorious and suffocating. I looked like ‘pure sex’ according to her as she added more to my “ensemble”. By the end of it I was dressed up more like a tart than she and it was exhilarating. I let her live after that moment and frequented her regularly for those games of ours. It’s a pity she died three months later at the hands of a violent pick pocket.”

Everything you do with VagabondDaniel is utter perfection.

damnitarmand:

// vagabonddaniel is one of the most wonderful people in the world and incredible to write with. I wouldn’t be here on Tumblr if he hadn’t tempted me into joining. Thank you for taking the time to comment, and I can only hope that you’ll continue to enjoy the threads!

You said you try to be the rper you want to be but what do you mean? I try but can’t always reply to posts right away.

vagabonddaniel-recordedarchives:

Oh, anon, I’m glad you asked!

When I say I try to be the RPer I want others to be, I absolutely don’t mean replying to threads with ninja speed and being on top of your RP tumblr like being Lestat, etc, is your job. (Unless you have managed to make into a job in which case please explain how.) Everyone is busy and has obligations outside of tumblr. If you want to and can reply to things quickly, power to you! If you can’t, it’s not a big deal and anyone who doesn’t think your replies are worth waiting for you is probably not an RP buddy you want.

What I mean is that I try to follow the Golden Rule: treat others as you want to be treated. Which means, essentially, put stuff out there, sending things out, foster interaction, and be open to being sending things to you.

You’ve probably heard about reblog karma. This is a good thing, where if you reblog a meme, you send an ask to the person you reblogged from. Great. But how about instead of reblog karma, you think of it like RP Karma. This is a game that falls apart if everyone sits still and waits for things to come to them.

So for example, if 6 people on my dash post a meme and I have time, whether or not I reblog it, I try to send everyone an ask. Sometimes the memes require thought and I can’t think of a question or ask for everyone and that’s fine. Sometimes I’m busy or on mobile and just can’t get to it. But if I can and and I have time, I make an effort. Especially if it’s a “send a symbol for a headcanon” type meme, just send some out! You can copy and paste the same one into everyone’s box if you want.

Beyond memes, if you think of a question you want to ask, say, Louis. Send it to a Louis you follow. Hell, send it to ALL OF THE LOUIS RPERS! Why not.

Or if someone posts an ask answer or a one liner* your muse has a reaction to, comment on it! React IC! That’s the point. If, say, Armand posts a line like “Banzai trees are hideous!” Lestat can reply that he’s making Banzai the official Coven Tree, Louis can argue that his banzai in Trinity Gate is quite lovely thanks, and Daniel can complain that he has no sense of cultivating something and watching it flourish.

I’m also a fan of reblogging replies you really love or sending people messages to tell them how much you appreciate their work. RP seems to be a hobby where everyone has days they doubt themselves, so a little positivity goes a long way!

TL;DR: Basically, when you have time, energy, and inspiration, put things out there. Reply to other muses’ IC asks & posts, send asks (anon or IC), reblog replies you like, comment on posts, send kudos out through VC Positivity or just in general. Be the RPer you wish everyone else was in terms of what you put out there. Because if you don’t send things out and interact and make RPland a happy place, no one is going to do it for you.

(*Obviously check RPer’s rules and if they don’t want people responding to things IC, heed their wishes.)

^THIS.

Same goes for interaction with fanartist, cosplayers, general fandom ppl, etc. Don’t wait from someone to drop into your inbox, reach out to them! Be the blog you wish to see *u*

How do I hone my psychic powers to block out vampires who want to listen to my thoughts?

the-gentleman-chronicler:

To hone your psychic powers for blocking out vampires, it takes a considerable period of time devoted to practice and a strengthening of your personal gifts.  Also, the success rate depends entirely upon the vampire in question.  Many have never honed their own psychic powers and are only able to read surface thoughts of humans.  A vampire who has mastered their abilities (Armand, as an example, is a master of those gifts) would be considerably more difficult to keep out.

Your mind is only as open as you permit it to be.  It has been described in the Chronicles how vampires keep their thoughts obscured from others.  Images, a closed door, or sounds and sensations intended to confuse the intruding mind.  My own psychic gifts were formidable enough towards the end of my mortal life that I was able to pick up on the thoughts of vampires and mask my own from them.  I’d had a lifetime of practice.

My preferred imagery is that of a jungle when I must guard my thoughts without much notice — like in an emergency.  I scatter my thoughts throughout it like drops of rain.  By the time they have made any progress in their trek to find them, I am usually gone and beyond their lasting mental reach.  My standard imagery is a library.  In that defensible mental place, I keep my thoughts and memories in the pages of the books, and a countless number of blank ones as handy camouflage.

If you want to be successful, then you should work upon your own method.  Use things that are so familiar to you in your physical world that they’d be mentally easy to grasp.  Music or radio static are simple things because they require no imagery.  Those two are rudimentary skills that are taught for those first learning their gifts in the Talamasca.  Or basic visual images.  A closed door, a locked gate.  Literal things.

Work on strengthening those blocks in your mind and keeping out a vampire will become easy over time.

“Shoutout to merciful-death, vagabonddaniel and i-want-my-iwtv who are like mom, dad, and uncle Lestan for our community. They’re super nice people and great roleplayers, I want to thank them for the time they put on being pillars of our community, organizing stuff, leading discussions, creating content and in general being awesome and keeping us together.”

Awwwwww! What a lovely message!

I think I can speak for all three of us *~parental figures~* when I say all we want is to enjoy this fandom together with u all!

~ ♥ ~

Personally, I love getting impressions from ppl just starting reading the series, as well as ideas from ppl who have already read and reread some or all of the VC. The headcanons ppl share are inspiring and the fanartists breathe visible life into these characters we all cherish. The silly stuff, the meta discussions, the RP… it’s a gift that keeps on giving to support such a fandom.

So thank you for following us, for sharing back with us, and if I could quit my job and just do this for a living I WOULD DO THAT IN A HEARTBEAT so much fandom love back to you, and the original writer of this lovely sentiment.

What’s the biggest tip you would give newbie vampires?

merciful-death:

Ask my muse for advice on or off anon.

Absorb into yourself the world around you, because time will soon replace it with something else.  Places shall always remain the same beneath it all, but mortal acquaintances, simple aesthetics, and the way that humanity moves within it will always die and be replaced with something else.  Enjoy all that you can.

vcpositivity:

iam-yourqueen has made me look at Akasha in a different light. Before reading her RPs she was simply a maniacal tyrant, hellbent on destruction. Now I see her as a nuanced woman with flaws; with depth and such humanity. She is more than the maddened queen, but a vampire, just like all the others, trying to find her place in the 21st Century.”

vagabonddaniel:

//I don’t want to be rude or whatever, but fictionkin is not a real thing. You cannot be the soul of a fictional character. An author worked hard to come up with and create these characters–they sprang from their head and their hard work. It’s disrespectful to claim otherwise.

I really don’t want to see this become a “thing” in this fandom, because we don’t need people claiming and being allowed to claim they are “The Real Lestat” etc. etc.

This is a thing? I don’t mean to be rude either, just saying, for one’s own sanity, these are fictional characters ‘mkay?

“devilsfool is one of my favorite rpers on tumblr, sassy, sinister and exceedingly irresistible love the posts and I especially love the interactions with merciful-death.

devilsfool.tumblr.com

merciful-death.tumblr.com”

ooc; devilsfool was amazing.  I’ve RPed with many people throughout the three years I’ve been roleplaying Louis on Tumblr, and I can honestly say that devilsfool was one of the most effortless people to RP with.  We “clicked” very well in our writing.  We shared many of the same headcanons and I always looked forward to seeing them on the dash, or getting asks from them.  They’re such a sweetie OOC as well.  I’m still very, very sad that they’re not on Tumblr anymore.

Thank you to the person who submitted this for your kind words. ❤ I’m glad you enjoyed our RPs.
