But what about vampire history teachers. Vampires who read something from a text book then proceed to light the book on fire and throw it out the window because “No. that’s not even close to what really happened. Listen up nerds I’m about to teach you what really happened in France during the revolution”

I need this as a series

Vampires sharing the recipe for Greek fire.

Vampires speaking in dead languages.

Vampires being able to translate untranslatable scripts.

Vampires who react to straightwashing historical figures like “Are you kidding me everyone knew that man was queer!”

Vampires from cultures who were once antagonistic towards each other stubbornly maintaining a friendship that’s lasted longer than their civilizations.

Vampires who honour forgotten deities you won’t find in mythology books.

Also, vampires who secretly saved stuff from the Library of Alexandra.

Guys, this is the Vampire Chronicles.

The increasingly desperate struggle of the VC fandom to tell Tumblr that THE THING YOU ARE DESCRIBING HAS EXISTED FOR FORTY YEARS

A-fucking-men.

I need to take a minute and thank everyone again for your support, but a super massive huge, sobbing shoutout to:

The Vampire Chronicles Fandom

You have all collectively helped me more than anyone I know in Real Life. Just when I think I am not going to have any more feels about this I get another note or a Paypal notification and I am overwhelmed all over again. You are all amazing and I love you. Up until now most of my life it’s been the vamps and their incredible stories that have kept me going, but now it’s literally the fanbase that’s helping me keep my head above the water. I owe this fandom so, so much.

1 thing i want to know about u: When/How were u first introduced to the VC?

vampire-chronicles-appreciation:

When I was around ten or so (not too sure on the specifics) one of my father’s coworkers was getting rid of a lot of books (it was due to lack of interest or something I’m not too sure why they were giving so many away). Anyway, I have always loved books so I decided to take some and I came out with 1-5 in the VC (not to mention several other Rice books like Vittorio and Taltos) and I just go into them after that point.

Awww, good story. I still get nostalgic when I see battered copies of the VC (or any AR books) on those $1 swap shelves at libraries, and I imagine buying a box full and poisoning enlightening a new reader to the addiction such fine literature

Hey! Do you have a source for reading The Vampire Companion somewhere online or downloading it? I just can’t find it in my country and ordering it off the net isn’t an option at the moment. I can totally understand if you don’t want to answer this.

Unfortunately, I don’t have a source for viewing/downloading it online :-

It’s for sale on Amazon, do you not have access to that in your country? Message me off-anon, if so, and I’ll see how I might be able to help u buy it legally!

what about like. a vampire who is just this weird immortal relative. like maybe at one point they were a parent, and were turned into a vampire, and in stead of like abandoning their family out of guilt or fear, they stuck around through generations and generations in their family and its been hundreds of years and they still stick around and have this huge extended family of people who love them, that weird distant relative who like nobody is sure how they’re related but they are

like a child in their family is born and the mom is like, this is your weird relative who is nocturnal, and the vampire gets to hold the baby and is in all the family photos and everyone is like ‘yeah this is fine, my grandpa knew them so’

This just makes me think of the sims.

This is the perfect position for the maiden aunt who grows her own food and is vaguely into witchcraft that we all have

Like imagine a kid being raised with an “Aunt Mel” and just assuming she’s their mother’s sister but when they’re a teenager their mum is like “oh no she’s actually my aunt, she’s your grandad’s sister” and eventually the kid asks their grandad and he’s like “I’m pretty sure she’s my aunt. Or my great-aunt? She might be some kind of family friend, anyway.”

“Pa she looks 30 years old”

“She always has, we just kind of go with it”

So glad to know my own VC addiction is enjoyed and shared by others.

It’s so encouraging to get messages like these. I hope this blog continues to live up to the high expectations it has set *u*

what’s the official tag for Vampire Chronicles? Since I’m really getting into fandoms I feel like I need to know what tag we use.

image

^J/k. It’s not just about him it’s all about him. I don’t know of an official tag but I’ve seen:

  • VC, the vampire chronicles, vampire chronicles, vampire crackickles (we mean this in a loving sorta way), the vampire crackickles, interview with the vampire, iwtv (since alot of ppl dump all VC talk in the movie title tag),

interview with a vampire (this is actually incorrect but whatevs).

  • the book being referenced, so QOTD for Queen of the Damned, etc.
  • … and of course any of the character’s names, (I indicate VC characters by adding “the vampire” Armand or “the vampire” Claudia, since they don’t have last names and there are other Armands and Claudias out there I don’t think I’ve been consistent in doing that w/ minor characters like Eleni and Madeleine and such oh well.)

There is the question of whether to include “the” and I don’t when I tag my stuff. I tag stuff with everything that’s in the post plus my stream of consciousness-type comments that don’t need to be in the version that ppl reblog and maybe ppl follow me for that commentary? Plus the fanart collection? I don’t question it, I just enjoy it.

How to tell if you’re in an Anne Rice novel

sarahtaylorgibson:

  1. God has abandoned you. You’re fine with it. Really.
  2. You are a supernatural creature, and if not, you are swept up in a passion so otherworldly and consuming you may as well be.
  3. You take huge revelations, shocks, and life changes pretty much in stride and don’t waste time resisting the unknown. The unknown might be a vampire or a new sexual experience or a grand international adventure, but most probably it’s all three.
  4. You are strangely intimate with all your acquaintances and go on for pages about how beautiful they are. If you are male, It will come to light by your own casual admission that you have gone to bed with an older but still handsome and always disarming male friend of the family. You will call it making love. But no homo.
  5. Everyone around you is exchanging needful touches and tender glances like this is a softcore porn novel. Wait, is it?
  6. You swoon, cry, and pine an awful lot.
  7. At some point in the narrative, you will end up in an ornate Catholic church and be filled with a sense of nostalgia and longing and existential angst.
  8. You are really not okay with the apparent fact that God has abandoned you. You secretly hope you are still worthy of His love.
  9. You spend at least 20% of the narrative in New Orleans, probably the Garden District.
