Thank you. I’m surprised of the warm feedback I’ve got and I’m happy that I’ve been able to do some original content after all these years. Even thought I haven’t had time and health to expose the ideas and background of the images and characters as much as I’ve would have liked to. But I’m still happy to hear that there’s something in the drawings that make you feel that way!
I’m doing a bit better these days, thankfully.
Thank you for this message, I hope the rest of the day will be great for you..!
Actually, in canon, they’re asexual. More on that here. BUT #your headcanon may vary, I’d be super impressed if anyone can show me a quote from canon that they can do it. (NOT Vittorio, bc he’s not included in any other VC, I think he’s a different species of vampire?).
The sharingz of BLOOD is all a Ricean vampire needs in terms of sexual interaction. This can be a fully clothed or naked
activity, or anywhere in between, and ppl sometimes forget that there is a major artery in the inner thigh called the Femoral Artery which makes for a very sexy place to bite…
BASICALLY your 2 main canon quotes re: asexuality are:
1. Lestat has this to say about his package:
“I studied my reflection … and the organ, the organ we don’t
need, poised as if ready for what it would never again know how to do
or want to do, marble, a Priapus at a gate” – Queen of the Damned
2. Pandora wants Marius to sex her up on their ‘wedding night’ and he can’t do it, but they try, awkwardly:
He covered me and kissed my cheek. “Drink from me,” he said, “drink until the pain goes away. It’s only the body dying, drink Pandora, you are immortal.“ "Fill me, take me,” I said. I reached down between his legs. “It doesn’t matter now.” But it was hard, this organ I sought, the organ forever lost to the god Osiris. I guided it, hard and cold as it was, into my body. Then I drank and drank, and when I felt his teeth again on my neck, when he began to draw from me the new mixture that filled my veins, it was sweet suckling, and I knew him and loved him and knew all his secrets in one flash which meant nothing.
He was right. The lower organs meant nothing.
He fed on me. I fed on him. This was our marriage. –Pandora
Also, there’s little mention in canon of vampire sex other than bloodsharing, so it’s assumed they don’t need it, bc they don’t procreate that way. New vampires are made by sharing blood.
In canon, human/vampire sex it basically non-penetrative, but that all depends on your definition of sex. Is fingering sex? vampires!Marius and Amadeo do that with mortal!Bianca, for example, and she seems very satisfied!
Keep in mind that #Your headcanon may vary, and this is why we have fanfic. Lots of ficwriters write them as fully sexual beings who can do it with vampires or humans.
There are some fics that suggest that human/vampire sex can be harmful to the human, since vampires are stronger in alot of different ways, and some fics suggest human/vampire sex is impossible (like Lois Lane/Superman, how does that even work does he destroy her? It is a mystery).
omg yes please, you are so welcome! This is my way to share my personal collection of VC awesome, I’m like a VC-AU Ariel w/ a cavern of VC fanworks instead of land-world stuff *u*
^I was bored of my usual reaction shots so have this instead ;D
See this kind of message is why I do this. I make/gather the kind of content I searched for for so long and could only get little scraps here and there.
THIS IS OUR ADDICTION AND WE SHOULD ALL ENJOY THE DRUGS TOGETHER!
Babette Freneire: “Although Claudia is the main gal in Louis’s life, Babette serves as sort of a prelude. She’s one of a gaggle of sisters (and one brother) on a nearby plantation. Louis describes her as “not only as smart as her brother, but far wiser” (1.180). When said brother is killed by Lestat, Louis urges Babette to defy the gender norms of the time and take over the plantation herself.
[S p o i l e r s b e l o w]
“She does. And she is very successful. But there’s always a rub: Babette knows that Louis is some sort of supernatural creature, and she thinks he’s from the devil. She tells him this when his plantation, Pointe du Lac, is burned. Hearing that this woman who he loves from a distance, and who tries to help him, also thinks he’s a demon, he starts to hate himself even more. We didn’t even know that was possible.
Louis gets out of her life, but later he hears that "Babette had died young, insane, restrained finally from wandering toward the ruins of Pointe du Lac, insisting she had seen the devil there and must find him” (1.575). No wonder Louis hates himself. Everything he touches seems to crumble and fall apart.“
“In the winter of my twenty-first year, I went out alone on horseback to kill a pack of wolves. This was on my father’s land in the Auvergne in France, and these were the last decades before the French Revolution.” – The Vampire Lestat
ouo another one claimed by the VC fandom. It stands the test of time, it can really be rewatched many times, you can watch it for something different every time I sometimes watch it for the extras in every scene, they do a great job, too ;]
Accidental Steven Rea marathon hahaha. I think he would appreciate that.
(ノ´ヮ´)ノ*:・゚✧ *~TVL~* is my favorite bc of reasons:
it’s undiluted Lestat,
from his POV,
his backstory,
his midstory,
his modus operandi…
it answers alot of the questions and corrects the record somewhat from IWTV (both have unreliable narrators but STILL)
…while bringing in a wholly new vampire origin mythology!!
and sets us up for more stories.
Listing the rest from most to least fave under the cut.
I’ll try not to spoil but consider yourself WARNED. \(^ω^\)
You know this fluctuates ok? Sometimes I’m in the mood for crackiness, but the top 5 are generally constants.
SPOILER ALERT MAYBE
TVL – bc of reasons
IWTV – bc it was the gateway drug to all this, and bc of Louis’ voice being so strong, very classical gothic novel. There was alot of existential crisis here, and mixed right in were some of the best insults and humor I’d ever read up until that time. (Louis: “There’s nothing left for you to tell me about life. I haveno need of you and no use for you. It’s you who need me, and if you
touch but one of the Freniere slaves, I’ll get rid of you. It will be a
battle between us, and I needn’t point out to you I have more wit to
fare better in my little finger than you in your entire frame. Do as I
say.‘” OH SNAP.
ToBT – Truly a “Lestat Don’t Do the Thing” “I Did the Thing” “GDI Lestat” book, in which he gets the chance to be mortal again, and this sums up his opinion of that experience: “I’ve watched two-year-old humans with interest for centuries. They’re miserable. They rush about, fall down, and scream almost constantly. They hate being human! They know already that it’s some sort of dirty trick.” I feel ya.
MtD – Yes okay I love Memnoch the Devil bc of alot of reasons, but mostly for the ideas it presents about why God created man and the world and what the deal was with sending Jesus down to mingle among people, and of course Lestat is asked to be the Prince of Hell, bc why not? It’s got alot going for it, the settings are amazing, the amount of Lestat being overwhelmed by his sensory input is like a rollercoaster ride, it’s some intense stuff.
QotD – there are alot more characters in here and it’s fun to jump around among the different POVs as the story progresses. The Queen herself has a wildly innovative concept for bringing Peace on Earth and it has a major flaw in that it does not include Bette Midler singing “From a Distance.”
Merrick – Louis returns as a more central character in several books, and it’s not for the faint of heart. It rekindles the L/L intimacy in a whole new way.
TVA – I am not a huge lover of Armand but in this book I feel like I got to know him better, it’s sumptuous, I would like a graphic novel plzkthanx, and it has an edginess as he is telling his story to someone who hasn’t yet earned his full trust and respect.
BaG – Marius’ story, follows Armand’s in my list bc I like Armand just 12% more than Marius. Partially bc of what Marius does in the later canon ugh. He lost alot of points for me. I can explain his reasons but I don’t have to LIKE THE OUTCOME all the same.
PL – Not sure if canon but… there are a few scenes in here that could stand alone and are worth reading the book for, plus I definitely approve of the last few major plot points. I think those were handled very well and would reread them. Yes I can start at 25% from the end of a book and reread from there WHY NOT?
BW – Quinn has grown more tolerable to me over time, and his story is very rural NOLA IIRC, with alot of spiritual stuff happening.
Pandora – I never really “got” her when I tried to read this when I was 15, probably bc her ship with Marius was so impossible for both of them, and her sadness was too much but I should give this book another try alllllll these number of years later.
BC – one of the crackiest for sure. I can’t remember most of it but it was intended to be the last VC, so it has a bunch of things happening as if it were the last opportunity to have them happen. Also the crossover… um… yeah, no.
Ah, good question! WELL HAVE I GOT A TEENSY BIT OF INFO FOR YOU.
In the IWTV script of April ‘92, 2nd draft (btw there are a number of cut lines and scenes that are in there, too), there is the mention of her name, and the child’s name:
Beyond that, no, I don’t have any other info… I also can’t recall any fanfic that honors that wife situation, bc most fanfic seems to work more from book!IWTV w/ the death of Louis’ brother Paul.
P.S. I think the wife’s name is Dianne bc HELLO Anne Rice. Die Anne? Maybe?
