I’d love to have a more in-depth discussion of this sometime, but here’s a few facts off the top of my head
- Mozart used to stay out all night partying and getting laid and then he’d sleep until noon and his long-suffering jerk of a father had to drag him out of bed to practice
- He also wrote the overture for the opera Don Giovanni the morning it premiered, while extremely hungover
- The interval between a perfect 4th and a perfect 5th (a tritone) was called “the devil’s interval”, and for centuries composers avoided it at all costs because it was believed to cause madness, violence, and sexual desire
- Franz Liszt played so intensely that he physically destroyed pianos and they had to invent a stronger one (which is the model still used today)
- Another thing about Liszt: women used to throw their underwear at him while he was performing. He was the first one-man boy band.
- At the premiere of The Rite of Spring the audience was so alarmed by the dissonance and non-traditional style that they left their seats to storm out or beat each other up in the aisles
- Many symphonies use non-traditional percussion like canons or massive wooden mallets, modern classical composers like John Cage like to stick things in piano strings
- Shostakovich was the most hardcore composer (though I’m biased because he’s my fave). He barely escaped being exiled or killed by Stalin while continuing to write music containing forbidden folk melodies or thunderous movements depicting the dictator himself.
- Paganini had no teeth and apparently looked like the devil
If folks have other facts I’d love to hear them!
- J.S. Bach straight up lost one of his first jobs because he got in a sword fight with one of his students. He was 20. His student was 23. Apparently he called the student a “nanny-goat bassoonist”.
- There is an opera about a magical ring that gives the wearer the power to rule the world. Through all the carnage for ownership of the ring, ALL the gods die, and Valhalla is destroyed. The opera is known as “The Ring Cycle” by Richard Wagner, and it is 15 hours long.
- Oh and another thing about Liszt, he used to wear gloves and then throw them dramatically into the audience (of what I can only imagine as screaming teenage girls) before he performed.
- Mozart wrote a piece called “"Leck mich im Arsch“, or “Lick Me in the Arse.”
- Before batons was used for conducting, they used “pointed staffs” that would beat the tempo against the ground. Jean-Baptiste Lully stabbed himself through the foot with it, and therefore died from gangrene from the wound.
- There is an aria in Lucia di Lammermoor in which the soprano has gone completely mad and has stabbed her husband to death. She sings with an accompanying flute (a bird that she’s hearing in her head), while in her wedding dress – covered in blood.
- In Berlioz’s Symphony Fantastique, movement IV – “The March to the Scaffold”, the music depicts a young man’s march to the guillotine. You can hear the moment his head is cut off and bounces down the stairs.
I could probably go on forever. Classical music is fascinating!

I’ve been seeing some posts about Santino’s death and ????? And I tried to find an explanation and ?????????????????????????? Can you enlighten me?
Well, I don’t want to spoil you but… If you must be spoiled, then you must be spoiled! Lestat doesn’t care about Santino but I do.

Let’s say What goes around comes around.
Longish complicated story short, Santino is killed pretty gruesomely (although quickly!) at the end of Blood and Gold, for past crimes he committed against Marius (kidnapping vampnapping? fledgnapping? idk Armand and turning him into an evul Child of Darkness, attempting to kill Marius and actually murdering innocent Boys of the Veneto at the same time, etc.)
So Santino, well, his uppance did come. He is dead as a doornail, my friend.
Lady Gaga as Ursula?
Ursula? You mean from the Little Mermaid? IDK, not my department! But she is a fabulous character and I would love to see someone try to play her as beautifully as she was in the movie. Pat Carroll voiced her SO WELL.
EDIT: Thanks to @nodominion and @luffenmeihn for alerting me: Anon was referring to Ursula from Vittorio. Ursula was Vittorio’s maker.
I’m still not the right person to ask bc I never really considered Vittorio to be a Vampire Chronicles story (even though it IS listed in the VC Wiki), bc it seemed to always be intended as a stand-alone story:
“I have, however, nothing whatsoever to do with the “Coven of the Articulate,” that band of strange romantic vampires in and from the Southern New World city of New Orleans who have regaled you already with so many chronicles and tales.
I know nothing of those heroes of macabre fact masquerading as fiction. I know nothing of their enticing paradise in the swamplands of Louisiana. You will find no new knowledge of them in these pages, not even, hereafter, a mention.”
So I don’t remember it well enough to cast it 😛 Maybe I should give it a reread.
I’ll open this to everyone else. Anyone have thoughts on this? And while you’re at it, cast Vittorio, too. Might as well!
How do you think Louis would react if someone beat him at poker/gambling?
Louis lets people beat him at these kinds of games occasionally, if he didn’t, no one would ever play him! This is the face he makes:

However, there have been a few times he’s been legitimately beaten, and he always takes it like a good sport, and tries to reconstruct how they managed it. Usually it’s because Lestat, who has no poker face, saw Louis’ hand and unconsciously gave it away to the opponent.
Are you cautious? I should hope you and Brad Pitt even in dealing with your own family.

Eva Green as Pandora
I don’t remember what ethnicity she was supposed to be specifically, Greek? A year ago @evan-wheeler offered Eva Green as Akasha but now that we have Nicki Minaj…. that role is sorta cast in my heart!
Aside for what the social justice warriors might say re: her ethnicity, I think Eva Green would be great as Pandora.

^Pandora with AU!Caucasian Arjun.
Monsieur Lestat, may I ask you for advice? How should I go about introducing myself to others on this site?
Talking to me is a good start…I’m rather open to conversation and usually don’t mind when others approach for conversation or to engage in some sort of adventure. I would recommend that if you’ve an interest in interacting with someone, that you read their rules on their main page (if they have any…which I mostly don’t) and send an ask or fanmail someone to possibly engage in a story. It’s really that simple and nearly everyone I’ve met within the Tumblr roleplaying circuit is wonderful, open and eager to engage in stories with others!
I hope that I answered your questions adequately….return with any others if you like! I can also introduce you to others if you like….I’m rather new to Tumblr as well.
Anyone else have any advice that they would like to add?
-Lestat
^Yes, very well answered!
I would add: Asking people to promote you by reblogging a brief post about you (which you create about your RP muse, you might indicate whether you are OC-friendly, will RP with others age 18+, 21+, or all ages, if your content may be NSFW, etc., examples can be found mixed into my #bump tag.)
Check the archives of RPers you like, it will lead you to more RPers you might want to interact with and also show you how they RP. Some post "Starters" and "Ask Memes" to encourage other muses to wander into their inboxes.
A friendly thing to do is send a muse an Ask (as your muse or Anon) if you reblog a post of Ask Memes or Starters from them ;]
Lestat come fuck me

It’s fine if you don’t like romantic and sexual relationships in fandoms but there’s no need to blast others for having them.
vagabonddaniel-recordedarchives:
ooc: But… But I do like romantic and sexual relationships in fandoms. I usually write Armand/Daniel as romantic and sexual. I have many other ships that I love reading or writing in romantic and sexual ways. I have nothing against them at all. I certainly didn’t “blast” anyone for having them or liking them. I merely suggested that people stop holding up romance/sexual encounters over everything else as if they are the only sorts of relationships or encounters that matter.
Romance is important. But not important to all people because some people are aromantic. Sexual relationships are important to a lot of people. But not to all people because some people are asexual and some fall somewhere on the gray-ace scale. (And that doesn’t mean an aromantic asexual can’t enjoy reading or writing those things, as well. Just that romance and sex aren’t a priority for everyone.)
Fandom tends to put romantic ships on pedestal above all others. Probably because fandom on tumblr especially is obsessed with Shipping. People Ship It and if you don’t Ship It, you’re a “hater.” But not everything has to be a romantic ship.
Fandom also tends to take non-romantic and non-sexual canon relationships and turn them into something romantic, and that’s awesome. Fandom is all about taking canon and exploring all of its possibilities. If people want to write Jace Wayland and Simon Lewis as romantic, well, show me the slash fic! I am there. But I don’t want people holding up Jace/Simon as though it’s better as a romantic ship than a bromance or friendship, because platonic friendships and familial relationships and non-romantic love are important, too. And while it’s fun to read and write smut and sexytimes and UST and all forms of sexual tension, it’s also fun to explore other aspects and dynamics and levels of love/friendship/frenemies beyond messing up the sheets.
That’s all I was saying.
^Beautifully answered.
