This might be a strange question, but does the VC affect your day to day life? For example: you’re reading a book and you think “Louis might like this.” Or you see a child and her appearance reminds you of Claudia? Or perhaps you find yourself quoting something from the books when you’re having a conversation. Do you ever experience those little daily moments when the VC doesn’t seem to be relevant but suddenly you are reminded of it because of the things you experience?

Not a strange question at all! It does affect me, in a positive way 😀

  • Kids often make me think about Claudia, both for VC casting ideas and also what it would be like to be an adult trapped in that little body (5 yr olds really are small!). I’ve never seen a *~perfect~* kid to play her, though. I think Kirsten Dunst set the bar very high.
  • Speaking of VC casting – I am always on the lookout for that. There’s a homeless guy I pass by on a regular basis who might be great for Lestat’s dad during the IWTV era. I’d love to share a pic but I feel like it would be rude to take one 😛
  • My headcanon for the VC characters is often in the back of my mind, and something might spark an idea about one or more of them, useful for fanfic ideas… Here in NYC I saw some older ladies, tourists, petting some huge police horses with policemen in the saddles, looking down and making small talk back at the ladies, and I had a very clear vision of Lestat seeing that as a form of fellatio (the men were straddling these massive animals and the women were flirting with them, practically fondling the horse’s necks and faces!) and finding it pretty hilarious, having to explain why he was laughing to Louis… so I wrote it up: 9TH AVE, BETWEEN 57TH & 58TH ST.
  • I’ll often slip in quotes from the books in emails or conversation partly bc they sound good but also it’s sort of a feeler to fish out other VC fans. Sometimes it works, too!

It works on bad days, too, I’ll just remind myself that Lestat doesn’t take this kind of crap from anyone, he just dusts himself off and kicks the asses that needed kicking!

([X]

EVEN WHEN ITS HIS OWN ASS IN THE DESERT!)

here’s an idea. Lestat in this day and age,,, decides to well .. Buy a vibrator and then absolutely adores it and is like “Louis please try this!” And then Louis ofc shuts the door in his face. He gets like 7 more of varying shapes and sizes and speeds. (Lestats a fucking hoe and we all know it)

♛*laughs* My, what a vivid imagination you have, anonyme! Wouldn’t you just love to know what’s in our toy boxes… BOXES, plural.

My passion for new technology is no secret. I’ll take “hoe” as a compliment, as I am an avid connoisseur of pleasure in all its forms.

Your thoughts on art are always interesting to read, but do you think that fanart is a healthy means of expression for girls? Before you jump on me hear me out. Shouldn’t the point of art be to challenge yourself rather than indulge in a crush? Fanart is limited by obsession, which is unhealthy. There’s no question you can be good at it, and you might enjoy yourself in the short term, but do you feel you’ve truly accomplished something as an artist by making only fanart?

Here’s what I get from your message:

  • “I’m a troll, but I come equipped with good grammar and flattery.”
  • “I think art is a holy and sacred institution governed by peens.”
  • “I have probably never opened an art history textbook.”
  • “When male artists draw hot naked babes, they don’t call the naked babes unhealthy crushes. They call them inspiration. And a lifetime of naked babe indulging is called an oeuvre.”
  • “Once you stop with this whole being a girl nonsense, you can become a real artist.”
  • "This is 17th century Massachusetts, and the village elders decree that masturbation is a sin, and Eliza should be set in the pillory with her ears nailed until the next Sabbath.”

I feel this belongs in my main art blog.

Happy Halloween Lestat! What do the VC vampires do on Halloween? Do you guys carve pumpkins? and whats your opinion on candy corn?

♛ Merci, visage gris. It was a long night, with different chapters, always one of my favorite nights of the year. We drink in the revelry of everyone dressed as their favorite monsters and characters… and there are always at least a few extra of “me” strolling around NOLA every year.

image

This is also the one night of the year I can truly smile widely, show my fangs, and get compliments on how very real they look, and which fangsmith did I get them from? I’ll answer, always with a little bitterness: “Magnus, but he’s long since retired.” I’ll allow admirers to touch them, if I’m in a generous mood.

Sometimes the coven gathers together at a costumed ball for just ourselves, or we’ll decide to throw a charity ball and invite our mortal friends. This year Louis and I stayed in NOLA and spent it doing our own thing.

I don’t carve pumpkins, but Louis does, he’ll do the simple toothy smile style, to let the kids of the neighborhood know we’re open for business, but we also love going to carving contests to see what the truly talented artists can do with just knives and vegetables.

Years ago, we found our pumpkins unceremoniously destroyed, and the culprit in the courtyard, none other than our dearest Mojo, still licking the innards of his victims off his muzzle! After that, we fed him

pieces of raw pumpkin as a treat whenever they were in season, and set the pumpkins for display out of his reach.

I shook Louis awake earlier than he’s accustomed to so that we could catch as much of the parade as possible. He knows this is the annual drill so he kept his complaints to a minimum. Rushing through the flat, throwing on whatever, there’s little time to dress up, as the parade begins very close to sunset. No matter, there would be three wardrobe changes later on… We caught up with it on Canal.

After that, we dressed up for the trick-or-treaters, and handed out candy at the flat, of course. Candy corn? A strange invention, and some say it tastes awful, but you have to realize there has always been candy that’s been seen as lower-class or disgusting, especially for those who can afford better. I buy it anyway, it’s pretty and smells pleasant.

Louis dressed as a black cat, complete with ears and tail (a costume he recycles far too much) and I, being a witch, got into a heated debate with a precocious little bat-child about which Hogwarts house I belonged to. Louis intervened, gave the child a full-size bar of something she wanted, and shooed her away. At any rate, it’s not resolved.

We changed into the more adult costumes for the clubs and bars, and played the game of chasing eachother from one to another, picking up dinner in the midst of the crowd, no death delivered tonight, a taste of a delicious David Bowie here, a bite of a sexy nun there. Louis says I have a preference for religiously-costumed people, and he’s very right. Holy water for my evil little soul!

For the third costume change of the evening, well, I’ll leave that to your imagination, but it was back home, an intimate moment together *winks*

Could we maybe send in asks but RP them to be vampires and have Louis and Lestat respond maybe? Si vous plait? Pretty please with sprinkles on top?

Lestat (♛) and Louis (♠) are always available for asks, from anyone!

^______^

Since they’ve been doing this awhile now, they have some advice for Asking the Right Questions:

  • Be clear who your message is directed to. If you don’t specify, or you send it to both, they’ll decide if they want to answer together or let one handle it.
  • Show yer face! If you are asking them something as an RPer, coming off anon would help so they can browse your archive to get an idea of your muse first.
  • Anon RPers – you’ll have to inform them that your muse is a vampire if it is. It can be as easy as “{Mary Sue, vampire for 15 years}”
  • You can flirt with them, but don’t expect the feeling to be automatically mutual.
  • These are Ask-only interactions. You can send followup asks, but they are unlikely to reply to any responses on the original ask. This is a policy that they (and the mun) decided on so as not to play favorites, but there are exceptions to every rule, so it might happen ;]
  • Reminder: Lestat’s birthday is 11/7… do with that information what you will.
  • …btw, they have old asks that they still haven’t answered yet, which take more consideration due to sensitive or complicated topics, but those asks haven’t been forgotten! Just so you know, those kinds of asks tend to take longer.

Lestat, (if I can call you that..) I am completely new to this world you speak of, but am so very amazed with it. I am a very big fan, just letting you know… Completely new to all this, it opens my imagination and now I know.. Sincerely, –Jo

♛Well hello, fresh blood… how lovely to gain such an avid fan so quickly, it’s as if you merely opened the door and fell at my feet *smiles* I could get used to this level of adoration.

You all know my name. It’s an acceptable way to get my attention, at least at first, but I also love terms of endearment… see if you’re inspired to make me a new one *winks*

Since you have all the knowledge, here’s my question: A lot of fanart has the vampires with pointy ears. I don’t really mind that at all, I’m just wondering if there’s something in the books that I missed or in what Anne Rice said in an interview or so that is the origin of that or is it just a fanon thing that developed for some reason?

*booming voice* YISSS I HAVE ALLLL THE KNOWLEDGE. Lol, no, I’ve just read the books a lot of times and can usually recall this kind of minutiae. ANYONE CAN HAVE THIS POWER if they simply spend an inordinate amount of time reading these books, the meta, the fanfic… ehehehe….

[^Louis would probs not actually make this kind of commentary out loud during movies in public, but he definitely does when watching things w/ the coven privately. Lestat finds it endearing at times and irritating at other times. Also, Louis’s ears almost look pointy here, trick of the light.]

I’d say pointy ears is a fandom thing, I don’t think the ear shape has ever been mentioned in canon. I love it, I find it really charming, whether the ears are really sharpened or just subtly pointy ^_____^

It’s probably influenced by other vampire media, like Nosferatu, and it helps to differentiate the characters as *~preternatural creatures~* in fanart rather than as their mortal selves, which usually don’t have the vampiry embellishments.

Sometimes AR does mention smtg that wasn’t in canon, but we don’t all necessarily accept her additional info. To my knowledge, she hasn’t addressed this, I don’t think she’s offered much re: vampire physiology outside of canon; she usually volunteers/responds more about their sexuality or their current happenings, or their feelings about topics (#Fan questions for Lestat was AR RPing as Lestat, basically!).

We’ve added other little things in fanworks that were never mentioned in canon… for example, Daniel Molloy wears glasses in fanart even after being turned when presumably he wouldn’t need them! That’s probably bc of movie!IWTV bc iirc he doesn’t wear glasses in canon so maybe he’s popped the lenses out and wears them for fashion, like Kevin in the recent Ghostbusters.

Hello there :) I was scrolling through the Nicolas de Lenfent tag and I read again a post with theories :3 With PL we now know the identity of the mysterious musician but I wonder – ok hope, keep fingers crossed – might Anne in all her wisdom broach the subject of Nicolas and maybe, just maybe bring him back in cannon? At this point, I think he would make for some interesting plot for the next books. If Antoine showed, we might still hope Nicolas is somewhere out there.

[Pretty sure @ioananix is referring to the post @devilsviolinist wrote on Nicki survival theories here. It’s good! Check it out.]

Yep, AR has brought back a bunch of formerly-assumed-to-be-dead characters in PL, so it’s a real possibility!

…However, is this always a good thing? I still don’t like the way the mysterious musician from IWTV was brought back. @antoineandthepiano makes a valiant effort to make that character more likable in their RP of him, but in canon, I don’t feel like this character being brought back adds much to the story or changes the dynamic of the coven much. More thoughts on him under the cut bc I want to get to Nicolas.

[^X by @vampiredevelopment]

Bring Nicolas back and we might have interesting plot there! So many questions… Did he really intend to kill himself?

Did he intend to fake his suicide? Or did someone try to kill him? Did Eleni know? Was she in on any of this? Is there any possibility of civility between Nicolas and Lestat? The answers to those questions could lead to some great arguments, some great opening of old wounds, some healing, idk, ACTION. FEELS. CATFIGHTS.

There are a bunch of characters brought back in PL so it wouldn’t totally surprise me if AR brought Nicolas back in PLROA… The ones she’s brought back have hardly caused any ripple of conflict in the coven, and some ppl like fluff and peace, maybe some ppl are glad to have their characters back in any form, but it feels like unearned fluff and peace. I’d almost prefer that she leaves characters out rather than bring back such watered-down versions of them.

I feel like that musician character was a draft of Nicolas, and AR forgot about him until PL, or maybe Lestat was so embarrassed by that whole situation that’s why he never mentions him in canon until PL (which, btw, the series was allegedly over with Blood Canticle). “Antoine” comes in all meek and mild, is accepted with hardly any comment, and everything’s peaceful! There’s no real adjustment needed, they’re all fine with the fact that, idk, he tried to kill Louis (and Claudia!) some 150 yrs ago? Too much water under that bridge.

There was a fanfic that suggested the musician vampire rescued Lestat from the swamp and helped him heal well enough so that he could to steal the Dark Gift from him, that would have been a lot more heartbreaking! Taking advantage of Lestat in his weakened condition like that ;A;
