Claudia and Louis were always intrigued by the workings of nature, and could spend hours pouring over illustrated books of flowers, animals, scientific discoveries, predictions for the future. We kept live birds because Claudia asked to study them at close range; she wanted to draw in the style of those books she loved.
Natural events like that are truly something to behold, and I can see why Gabrielle prefers the simplicity and company of such wonders to society, which can be so dull and boring in comparison. Man-made art can only attempt the beauty that Nature provides, free of charge.
It was Gabrielle’s desire that brought me to the lip of a frozen tundra to see the Northern Lights for the first time, and it really was worth the considerable amount of bitching and moaning I had made on the climb up to our viewing point.
♛*laughs* That is pretty random, as far as random questions go! It’s a subject that I enjoy very much. I go through these phases of intense interest on certain subjects for nights to months at a time, and dinosaurs is a recurring focus.
I assume you mean the animals, and not a specific movie or book series (Armand gave me my first Dinotopia book as a gag gift for my birthday some time ago – surprising me that he remembered or cared at all – saying, “It’s a children’s book, because you’re a child,” and I actually loved it; the illustration is very imaginative and highly detailed). Or the live-action TV show Dinosaurs from the early ‘90s which, honestly, I still can’t decide if it’s my cup of blood or not.
Dinosaurs the animals, they’re fascinating. Omnivores, carnivores, “veggiesaurs.“ The study of other predators means a lot to me. We still have more to learn about them, some still exist today in some form. The tooth size of the T. Rex is nearly unbelievable, even when I held one in my hand. I admit I was a little envious bc my own fangs are quite small in comparison, but mine are much sharper and more elegant than a T. Rex’s, being that they’re for a similar, but different, physical use *grins*
Jurassic Park is a film Louis and I can watch over and over, even though it’s given him a few choice quotes to use against me *grumbles*
♛*leans forward, fidgets with his sleeve, leans back again, smoothing it out, avoiding the question*
If I may quote from a blogger here, @lovefreeanddiehard, “This is truly a historic year. We’re either going to elect a woman, a Jew, the Zodiac Killer, or the start of the Fourth Reich.” [X]
Not that I fully agree with all of those characterizations, but by any definition it is an assortment unlike any other I’ve ever seen.
We don’t vote, it’s your world, not ours. So I can’t offer support for your choice of Mrs. Clinton (her stage presence and fashion sense has vastly improved since the 90′s, I’ll give her that). As Louis put it so well, “we forfeited it when we lost our mortality. We have no right now to interrupt their struggle. If we do we rob them of victories that have cost them too much!”
Of course I would love to… take Mr. Trump out for dinner *licks fangs* and stay to say grace when we’re done. But Louis won’t let me extend such an invitation or make further opinions on that. The more we hear from him, neither of us like the sound of “President Trump,” though *shudders*
In previous years we would gather and watch the debates together, Marius, Armand, Daniel, David, Jesse, Louis, and I… Sometimes Gabrielle, Maharet, or Pandora would join us if they were in town anyway. Catching Gabrielle up to the current political climate is my task and it’s barely doable at all because she tunes me out; her eyes glaze over and I can tell she’s 1,000 miles away on a mountaintop somewhere *ragged sigh* Exhausting.
After the televised action, we’d have debates ourselves. It was lively, it was good. This time around, we seem to all be taking it in separately, or with those we already cohabit with. Louis and I watch these debates mostly in silence, laughing occasionally at old rhetoric we’ve heard before and being grateful when we hear the voice of reason speak through one of them.
We’re cautiously optimistic about it all. We hope for the best for you all.
Issues we’re always interested in hearing about from the politicians: gun control, immigration (we’re immigrants, ourselves), the stock market (if you expect any of us to get real jobs, you’re quite deluded), education, etc…. the violence that’s erupted between the police force and the people they’re meant to serve and protect has been appalling. We’re beyond shocked that this happens in broad daylight, when we can’t stop it! We’re numb from every new video of another innocent battered or gunned down by a uniformed man. We would pursue those ourselves, if only they didn’t become such noticeable victims to take *frowns* But I’m getting off-track.
We’re invested in your future, because we do exist in your world. We want you to thrive in it. So that we can perch in a bar, watch you and your gaggle of friends, all the beautiful colors and shapes you’re made of, and then we go out and destroy the real monsters who would seek to cut your lives short for the contents in your wallet (or worse). We have our place, and we “interrupt your struggle” only on the margins, only in the way we must. I’m certainly not going out into the jungles and killing innocentanimals. So I’ll kill the rapist lurking in the alley by your apartment, that’s fair enough for interruption.
♛Merci beacoup, mon petit. Taking a brief moment now while Louis is in the shower, in the midst of our Valentine activities. It is past midnight here in Paris, but as we woke about 8 hours ago, and we have yet another 6 ½ hours before the dawn, the spirit of St. Valentine has kindly extended the celebration time for us *winks*
If I may just mention: Louis gets many romantic holidays throughout the year. It’s nearly monthly. Why does it always fall to me to plan these activities?! I’ll tell you, it’s because I read up on the exhibitions, the galleries, music, the new films and plays coming out; I’m more aware of the current cultural happenings of this world than he is. Except when it comes to sports and politics (Sports I can manage, politics, well, I learned my brutal lesson regarding global diplomacy so it’s best that I keep mostly oblivious to this general topic or else there would be horrific massacres. Too many evildoers in positions of power.)
To start the evening off, the plan was to break into the Louvre and view the current exhibitions. Louis was particularly interested in the drawings by Parmigianino, and we may still do so, but we were sidetracked after sharing a romantic petit déjeuner. It was messier than expected and we had to go back to our apartment to change my entire outfit, in stripping it off, we ended up enjoying each other for a little dessert
*licks fangs* Because of course we did. Did you expect any less of us? And that was NOT my plan all along *innocent smile* Well. Alright… it might have been a thought at the back of my mind, during our meal.
Next on the agenda *whips out itinerary* is the quartet I’ve hired to play at a certain location that I will be steering us towards, a romantic little courtyard lit only with gas lamps and candles. The cellist is a special gift to Louis, she is a teenage girl I have been secretly financially supporting, a gifted and mature player for one so young, who models herself after the legendary Jacqueline du Pré, a favorite of Louis’. We’ll dance to that, should he continue to be in the mood to do so ❤
After that, we will need a refueling, and I know just the place. A little real French cuisine, soaked in good French wine.
Ah! Mon ange approaches. He looks fresh and ready for more. Better shut off the social media, he requires my full and undivided attention. À la prochaine *blows kiss*
Don’t gamble on anything with Louis. Even sports. He keeps up w/ stats, but more importantly, he can size up a team pretty quickly and estimate their odds with a lot of accuracy.
He also loves Drew Brees from the Saints bc of course he does… (oooh I get to dig an oldie up from the archive, I made this for @gairid ages ago!)
Lestat cannot be trusted to go to a live game bc he “encourages” streakers, and can be really embarrassing on the Kiss Cam. Daniel will never forget the game he went to with Lestat in which Lestat sloppily made out with him for the longest 6 seconds of his unlife on the Kiss Cam, for no other reason than because ‘Stat knew Armand was watching the game at home.
Lestat also, of course, loves beach volleyball bc of obvious reasons. Louis secretly agrees and would never admit it, but Louis loves a good rack.
Armand is into the more graceful kinds of athletics like ice skating and tennis. He skates himself, and sometimes rents out a rink and has a vampires-only skate party where he choreographs elaborate performances.
Marius likes watching diving and swimming competitions. Something about the sleekness of the athletes touches his soul.
{I assume this is a question for the mun and not the muse bc of obv. reasons}
Both, both is good! All the cake and pie!
^I saw this doge in NOLA and he is very much alive, just playing dead drunk. This is me after like one slice of cake and/or pie, too.
[I am not a foodie but I have a very serious sweet tooth bc ‘MURICA. Dark chocolate bars are my fave. 2nd is white chocolate. White chocolate kitkat bars omg… Milk chocolate is kinda boring to me but I do like M&Ms and Reese’s cups. Mint choc. chip ice-cream is a real guilty pleasure *drools*]
My RL best friend is a foodie and she is gonna laugh her ass off at my vivid display of foodieism below but OH WELL.
If I had to choose, the Oreo pie at the Court of the Two Sisters in NOLA one of my absolute faves, and it is very cake-like. I wish I had a pic but I generally just do not take pics of my food so i guess i will have to go back there! While I love a slab of NYC cheesecake, after the first few bites, I need help finishing it bc it’s so homogeneous. The Oreo pie has all the stuff I like best: cream filling, crumbly dark chocolate, vanilla, various textures.
Best pie I ever had was apple pie in the middle of nowhere in Arizona. With a big scoop of melty vanilla bean ice-cream. The apples inside still had a little bite to them, and they floated in the yummy congealed filling. Flaky toasted crust. It was pretty awesome. But then again we were starving, so it might have been the old “Hunger is the best sauce” effect 😉
Plus, there is a fic floating around out there that mentions this specific type of NOLA pastry, called the “King Cake,” and henceforth Lestat has the nickname “Babycakes.”
Actually, I had heard of morphthing before but okay here we go, I’m sure you knew I’d do this pairing:
thank goodness we don’t do mpreg in this fandom bc really, there are limits.
^People’s Sexiest Man Alive 2K40? IDK, the features are fighting w/ eachother more than morphing amicably, this is like a lion and a tiger making a liger…
It’s definitely one of the sweetest and cutest moments in the whole story.
Also, there’s this parallel in that Claudia is cradling a doll against her, and Louis is cradling his doll (Claudia herself) against him. Claudia’s and the doll’s face are similar in their direction. Claudia has her cheek in the doll’s hair, and her hand in Louis’ hair, and Louis has his lips in Claudia’s hair. It’s all very cuddly *u*
In movie!IWTV, the first night Louis spends without Claudia since her turning is the night the Theatre des Vampires separates them, and beats him up. It’s one week after he turned Madeleine, so he may have been sharing his coffin with Madeleine, or alone, but just one week later, he spends the day locked in a metal coffin upside down with no cushioning, stripped of most of his usual comforts ;A;
Children sleep with dolls/stuffed animals for a feeling of safety, protective of their comfort object but also feeling like it can protect them back. Kids sometimes do sleep with their parents when they’re very young (that old, “Mommy I had a nightmare!” thing). This is where the mommy!Louis fanon comes from.
I like the idea that Louis and Claudia were protective and nurturing to each other in a way that Lestat couldn’t be at that time.
Awwww thank mon papillon! Such an honor to be your absolute favorite like seriously I am an excellent dealer of this drug Here’s one of my faves of Louis bc it is so in character and he’s not denying his hotness:
I looooove fandom-related questions (for me or for Lestat), it’s like getting room service! ♥u♥
How many? It varies, sometimes none, usually 2-5… a question or comment really does make my day night, it’s heartwarming to see this new wave of activity in the VC fandom at all, and I’m grateful to be part of it in my own little way ❤
Personal questions, tho, idk, I always feel like, do you really want to know about me? I’m always flattered! But it still feels odd.
