good evening, i have some kind of headcanon ask for you! so, Armand became a vampire as teenager, and probably looks very young (due to vampire beauty, or something… i remember he was described like this, but maybe it was translation). do you think that he was even stopped by the police and asked why is he alone so late in the night, warning him of the dangers and proposing to give him a ride home? sorry, i don’t know if it happens in USA, but it happened to me and my friends quite some times.

That’s good that the police are concerned for your safety and have offered to give you & your crew a safe ride home! Yes, I would think that Armand does get this kind of interaction,

more because if the fact that he was under 21 when he was turned and not so much bc of the vampire beauty (from TVA):

I would never be anything but the seventeen-year-old boy you see now… [but] I am not a waif and never have been. I am a strong child.

Even if he looked “strong,” I’m an adult and it would concern me to see a 17 year old out in a bar late at night, too! I wouldn’t approach him myself, but I might worry that he’s in danger and alert a staff member. From my experience in many states in the US, it is a liability for a bar or club to have underage people even in their building, so most don’t even allow underage people in at all.

Armand probably has a big deck of fake ID’s that say he’s 21, though, and some people really do look younger than they are… combine that with his Mind Whammy abilities, so I’m sure he gets in wherever he wants.

Do you know of any reputable Lestat and Louis role-players?

Reputable? Well, I think repute is in the eye of the beholder, y’know? I try not to play favorites, but I have promo’d RPers here and there. My Lestat and Louis muses are ask-only, so you can ask them things but they can’t go on to do full threads, the mun doesn’t have the time for that 😛

Try these tags, tho, you may find an active Lestat or Louis, and you can decide for yourself if they’re to your taste:

Anyone is welcome to rebagel/comment on this post and shout out Lestat or Louis RPers they like, since that’s what Anon asked for!

I’m the vampire of my friend group, I’m pale (I once wore and light colored sweat shirt and my friend said she couldn’t tell where my sleeve ended); my dark hair adds to vampy-ness. I have dark burgundy, russet, brown eyes. Any suggestions for makeup or colors that would suit me (idk, I’m open for suggestions, help me Lestat).

//ooc; Mun is answering this for Lestat, bc he would just tell you to go after whatever you find beautiful! Nothing is off-limits. But he doesn’t comprehend time, effort, and financial limitation for mortals *pouts*

witchy/vampiry style.]

I don’t know what your budget is but you don’t need to spend a ton of money to achieve some great vampiry fashion looks. @transylvaniateaparty shops at H&M (very affordable stuff, I get nice tops there for like $12 sometimes!)  and thrift stores.

Based on what you’re saying, this youtuber kittenmoustache might be a good inspiration for you.

kittenmoustache is pale, has dark hair, and a gothy aesthetic, and all their makeup tutes would probably work for your eye color!

Fashion-wise, you could look at what she’s wearing, too, for inspiration.

Other goth fashionistas for inspiration: @gothiccharmschool, @xtoxictears, @annabellioncourt.

I heard that Anne doesn’t like having her writing edited. which is why theres sometimes misspellings and things. have you heard anything about that ?

Anne doesn’t like having her ideas edited, that’s true, she talks about her style of writing here “On My Method of Writing:” 8/20/2003

(my emphasis added):

“After the publication of the The Queen of the Damned, I requested of my editor that she not give me anymore comments. I resolved to hand in the manuscripts when they were finished. And asked that she accept them as they were. She was very reluctant, feeling that her input had value, but she agreed to my wishes. I asked this due to my highly critical relationship with my work and my intense evolutionary work on every sentence in the work, my feeling for the rhythm of the phrase and the unfolding of the plot and the character development. I felt that I could not bring to perfection what I saw unless I did it alone. In other words, what I had to offer had to be offered in isolation. So all novels published after The Queen of the Damned were written by me in this pure fashion, my editor thereafter functioning as my mentor and guardian.”

But she still has copy editors who look for misspellings and grammatical errors. She has had the same editor for 40+ years and compared their relationship to a marriage.

Daniel Molloy –> Malloy: well, in QOTD it’s “Molloy,” and it’s “Malloy” in the IWTV script, which she wrote after she wrote QOTD. IIRC, she said at a booksigning that she just forgot 😛 but she’s made an effort to be more consistent; I think she said she reread books 1-3 before she wrote PL to refresh her memory.

It’s on FB that she makes misspellings of character names (notably, Nicholas for Nicolas), I don’t think anyone proofreads her FB posts *shrugs*

Also relevant: someone asked AR at the booksigning I went to for PL in 2014:

“Anne, has Vicky (Victoria Wilson, AR’s editor of 40+yrs) ever cut, or asked you to cut, a sex scene from any of your books?”

The answer was an immediate “NO.”

Vicky said: “Her sex scenes… I’m reading them going, ‘Oh Anne, are we going there? We are? Oh god.’ and then I turn the page and it gets so much more intense even…. and that’s what great writing is, it takes you on a journey you might not have planned on, but enjoyed.”

you know, I’ve always wondered about this… Ricean vampires ONLY drink blood, right? But, why just blood? Because “normal” food doesn’t taste good for them anymore? What it would happen if they try it?? Maybe they’d get sick?? I don’t know, but I would love to find out :p (Btw, LOVE your blog)

Thanks for the blog luerve! <333 I really appreciate it.

Yep, Ricean vampires can only drink blood 😛 In some fanfic, they can take little sips of other liquid, but IIRC, they can only consume blood in canon.

^This is from What We Do in the Shadows. I don’t think it would be exactly like this for Ricean vampires, but it’s hilarious (but GROSS) so WATCH IT (if you can handle the gross). For these and the Ricean vampires, eating people food is bad, but not lethal.

Ricean vampires lose a lot of digestive anatomy when they’re turned. So their bodies just can’t metabolize it. So, cooking smells become repulsive to them, as Louis describes it in IWTV:

“The slightly nauseating smell of cooking meat… I caught the sweet smell of the spices and the fresh green of marjoram and bay; and then in a wave came the horrid smell of the cooking meat, the blood and flesh decaying in the boiling fluids.“

If they were to try a bite of a plate of food, it might be like trying to force yourself to eat something inedible, like an old soapy sponge, maybe? Our body’s way of defending itself from inedible things is to make them taste bad (but then there are people with Pica, who eat inedible things and then there’s the fact that some edible things that are good for you might not be very tasty unless prepared somehow so… idk).

I would guess that eating a whole plateful of food would just make Ricean vampires throw it back up, no enjoyment in or out 😛

@roselioncourt RPs as Rose de Lioncourt, and that muse has experimented with food made from blood. You could ask her about that.

Hi Lestat ! I have a question for you… Have or would you a tattoo ? If yes, What kind ? Calligraphy with silly words, an animal, roses ? I’m curious.

♛I love decorating my body with jewelry and clothing, why not tattoos? The artistry with some of them has become quite stunning. Especially the ‘watercolor’ methods. Abstract or specific, body art is very much art. I like biting directly into it on my victims, too. These neck tattoos… *licks lips*

image

A little story for you… I discovered sometime in the 90’s that we can be tattooed, but that the tattoo will fade away entirely during the deathsleep. Daniel may have been involved. Of course we decided that I absolutely had to get a large tattoo across my chest that read, “Property of Louis” in huge black calligraphic lettering, just to see Louis’ reaction. When I spread open my shirt to reveal the work of art, every drop of blood drained from his face!

He was frozen in that special moment before the judgment begins. It was a sight to behold. Instead of lay in with the judgment as usual, he actually shifted into damage control, terrified it would last forever, and immediately started looking into laser-removal treatments! He fell asleep at the computer that morning and had to be carried safely to bed.

How relieved was he when my branding had disappeared by the following night? After some heavy physical punishment to my person, he treated me very well for the entire night. How so? Read between the lines, mes petits.

Sorry for inconveniencing you. But I’m been I honestly not sure how to say this, Louis and Lestat. But basically my dad keeps trying to contact me and just when I thought he changed he hasn’t, I don’t know what I should do. I’m lucky to have a had full of friends and a great mother (she’s fabulous like you Lestat). I just feel like my voice isn’t being heard but I don’t want to go off on him. What should I do? Si vous plait, and thank you. ♡ lots of love

♛It’s no inconvenience, Louis and I have both experienced our share of bad parenting, and done some of it ourselves, so we’re glad to reach out and help when we can.

We read your message many times and can’t quite unravel what the issue is, but the fact that you have a mother who you feel is fabulous (and I assume you mean in her personality, more than just the contents of her closet *winks), and some friends for support, that’s a good start.

Some people really shouldn’t be parents, others are wonderful at it… it took Louis and I plenty of trial and error to figure it out ourselves. It sounds like your parents may not be working together on it themselves.

As badly as my father treated me, I took him in when the roles were reversed. He needed care, and only then, with his defenses down, were we able to have some of the communication I never got to have with him as a child. Perhaps he didn’t like children, didn’t see them as people, but as animals that needed taming. Louis’ mother seemed perpetually disappointed in Louis, no matter how hard he tried to please her. Perhaps she was disappointed with her lot in life and scapegoated her misery onto him.

It may be that your father doesn’t deserve to be part of your life. It may be that you still have something to resolve with him, like I did with my father. Follow your instincts, and seek advice from your mother. She knew him before you were born, she may have the guidance you seek.

It’s a sad truth that your father will be dead, and there will come a time when you won’t have the chance to try to communicate with him ever again. If it’s too painful to be alone with him, have it be in a setting with others involved, or at least nearby.
