Congrats on the new job ❤️❤️❤️

Thank u!

Sorry for the delay in reply, I was wrapping things up at the old job and starting the new one, wanted to focus on real life for all that.

I’m still sort of on a break but sneaking back on here now and then. I hope you’re doing well, too!

I don’t think I’ll ever be as active as I once was in my more active times here, I’m not as invested in it as I was, but I’m really pleased to see that other ppl have kept the fandom alive, all this new fanart from IWTV and QOTD being on Netflix and the new book coming out, others have taken up the fanworks supportive torch that I had been carrying, I’m happy to see the fandom active!

What do you think of the series being on hulu?

Progress is progress! It’s something!

^this thumbs up from Al Bundy is probs closest to my feelings bc (at least out of its original context) it appears to be approval, begrudging approval, maybe a little sarcastic, but you can tell that he IS glad, too, he’s so tired, but always open to the good in the world… he’s waited a long time, he’s acclimated to waiting.*

IDK much about Hulu and the shows/movies they have, just that they’re often sending out free trial offers and like, it reminds me of drug dealers trying to get new ppl hooked in with free samples, which is standard operating procedure but still makes me wary.

I am, as always, and forever shall be, ~#cautiously optimistic~, and I am glad that someone who’s kind of a big deal showed interest enough that it seems like things are in motion again!

*(As a side note: I always loved ‘Married… With Children,’ and I think it was partly bc as bitter and grumpy as Al was, and as mean-spirited as he could behave at times, deep down, you could tell he loved his wife, family, neighbors, and friends, and had made some peace with his life choices. Maybe I was projecting onto him, but anyway, this was a formative character for me.)(Which is my long-winded example of smne who may appear to be just another unlikable/problematic character in a sitcom, but I found smtg good and substantive in him, which will hopefully be the case with the new VC TV series with all the problematic characters/stuff in it).

I really love and appreciate the work you do for this fandom

Merci beaucoup! I very much appreciate your contributions, too! ❤

I wish that that had made a sequel to Interview with TC and BP

I FEEL YOU 1,000% I think Tom had the rights to TOBT so he could star in it, even tho that’s the bodyswap episode at best, and all this other soggy mess at worst…  I think the 90′s audience and reviewers being all IWTV was “TOO GAY”/”NOT GAY ENOUGH” really soured him on the whole series, but he has always kept Lestat in his heart ❤ (Brad, not so much)

I would love it if Tom were consulted on his opinion re: casting, and then when they do cast a Lestat, Tom could train/advise him personally. BC PLENTY OF PPL WHO NORMALLY DISLIKE TC ADMITTED THAT THEY LIKED HIM IN THAT ROLE.

2 years ago Gaspard Ulliel was somewhat of a fave choice…

Brad’s advice to the new Louis would probs be “You’re going to be miserable, just don’t hold back with that… You do get like 2 scenes to take out your aggression when you get all fiery so take full advantage of that.”

My not-so-secret casting fantasy would be to have Tom back to play the Marquis. LIKE HOW PERF WOULD THAT BE?? He’s old enough for it… more villain roles for TC! *bangs fist on table*

You are a dead ringer for that portrait!!

Thanks! <333 (Re: this post)

I try not to post selfies too often bc it feels like… not really VC y’know? Like it doesn’t count as being on topic enough (it isn’t)(unless I was cosplaying a VC-verse character)(I don’t have the guts/skills for that), but it’s very heartwarming when ppl like you leave me nice messages like this, I do appreciate it ❤

They need to hurry with the show! I’ve been waiting forever.

I KNOWWWWW… beLIEVE me, I know that feel.

image

…and yet, I, personally, wouldn’t want them rushing it out just bc they CAN, like with movie!Queen of the Damned. I mean, hey, I don’t know the backstory on that production, so maybe they DID put a lot of thought and effort into that movie… and let’s not forget that ppl DID enjoy that movie and even now they find it nostalgic, ppl liked it as an adaptation or as a standalone (if they hadn’t read the books, they probably weren’t judging it for being non-compliant w/ canon), for whatever reason (Aaliyah! Was actually great, IMO!). So I’m not the arbiter of taste, and neither is any one fan. I’m glad some ppl enjoyed it bc hey, maybe whatever success that movie had is part of why we may get the VCTV series! And whatever failure it had, that can be learned from (like, maybe, don’t rewrite canon to the point of switching around makers for whatever reason, like making Marius Lestat’s maker? BC that just screws up so many connections, among other issues?).

If the VCTV series happens at all, it’s inevitably going to disappoint some fans no matter what it does or doesn’t accomplish, no matter how canon-compliant* it is or isn’t. There is NO PLEASING EVERYONE! Our headcanons DO vary. Everyone projects their own ideals of beauty and everything else onto these stories, the act of reading a story involves adding your own experience, supplying it with your own imagination.

(*Altho, AR has said that she DOES want to make it as canon-compliant as possible, and hopefully that means she won’t try to shoehorn in the later ALIEMS into the story before they contaminate it come in much later in the series.)

I think it’s great when we can agree on some things, like I would say we all agree that Lestat’s red velvet cloak was RED in color, but then we could debate DARK RED or BRIGHT RED until we are blue in the face so like… even little details like that can be a point of disagreement *shrugs*

ALL THAT SAID, it would be WONDERFUL if this adaptation gets like a B+ with the majority of the fandom, that’s how low I’m setting the bar lol.

this blog is my not so guilty pleasure <3

psssssst: Miiiine, toooooo…!

Now I feel even worse for Lestat Poor guy :,(

IKR?! It makes my heart hurt so YOU HAVE TO HURT, TOO. I am aware that Lestat is one of the biggest antagonistic monsters in canon, but that’s not all he is, and when he’s cut down like this, you can’t help but feel bad for the poor guy.

Let me torture y’all a little more…

^HE THINKS SHE FLAVORED THEM FOR HIM. He’s being slightly cute here with the way he’s gesturing theatrically to her, don’t think about all the times he and Louis “acted Shakespeare together for Claudia’s amusement…” He thinks she went to EXTRA EFFORT to make this peace offering special for him! Well, she did, but not the way he thinks ;A;

image

^(Just a still of Claudia bc of reasons) Then she basically tells him it was dead blood* she gave him, which, in the context of movie!IWTV, is apparently dangerous to them. On her first kill he told her that they always have to “stop before the heart stops,” but he doesn’t say why. So now he knows she poisoned him, and the laudanum is working, bc look how incapacitated he is:

image

^It’s probably no accident that his right hand is in his crotch there, he’s been emasculated, brought down by his own daughter *cries*

image

^That whole right arm is just not functional, he tries to put weight on it, and it just collapses ;A;

Even if he COULD grab her at this point, he’s in no shape to try to fight her physically. He can barely even talk!

In the context of the scene, there’s no going back for her at this point, she poisoned him intentionally and there would have been no way to regain his trust. All the sadness.

Asterisked stuff under the cut.

*In the film, it’s implied that the deadness of the blood is what’s incapacitating him, and that’s fine, for the film. He taught her this in her first kill. But in the books, it’s about the laudanum** that actually would have a strong effect on him. If Louis had been able to put Lestat in his coffin, Lestat could have slept off this opiate dose and been fine the next night.

**Laudanum is not just any drug, it’s a BAMF (Wiki):

“Reddish-brown and extremely bitter, laudanum contains almost all of the opium alkaloids, including morphine and codeine, and its high morphine concentration makes it a potent narcotic. Laudanum was historically used to treat a variety of ailments, but its principal use was as an analgesic and cough suppressant.”

One more note on the dead blood – if those boys were truly dead, Lestat would have known just with his own senses. Vampires can’t stand to be around their dead. But we’ll have to just ignore that ;]

I think this is the best VC blog I’ve ever seen.

Aww thank u so much! I try! So hard!

Just feel like repeating a few things in light of recent posts…

Fandom isn’t just escape into a fantasy world. Fandom is letting the fantasy world supplement us, bolster us, give us hope. Fandom is drawing our friends and loved ones as close as we can, even separated by massive distance, we can at least communicate with and support eachother.

Fandom can stimulate wonderful discussions even if you disagree with someone, and perhaps even enlighten you to smtg you might not have considered before! “The mind, once stretched by a new idea, never returns to its original dimensions.” – Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr. (I think? Might be

Ralph Waldo Emerson… idk)
