āEnjoy your new fangs, ma petite!

āEnjoy your new fangs, ma petite!

āMerci, I hope I have a fantastic night as well, ma petite~

ā Thank you, itās alright. I donāt expect much, but it was memorable.Ā

[^XĀ He also got an unusual candelabra.]
Those movies came out within a year of eachother (Byzantium in 2012 and OLLA in 2013) so it makes sense to like them both, they both had good cinematography and they both aimed to make their own mark on the vampiring mythology and physiology.
I didnāt like Byzantium, sadly, and Iād rather not dwell on the reasons why since itās one of your fave movies.
OLLA, on the other hand, is almost the VC movie weāve deserved for a long time and I loved it! Definitely one of my faves, too. Itās humorous, sensuous, clever, dramatic, all built on a strong foundation of the charactersā chemistry w/ each other. Not alot actually HAPPENS, plot-wise, but it doesnāt need to. Weāre getting a slice of life of these characters. Itās mostly a collection of charming subtle moments, like Adam trying Eveās new ācuisineā for the first time:

^Yes, this moment has a sexiness to it *drool* but more than that, he is almost childlike in both his resistance to *~and his curiosity about~* this New ThingĀ bc he wonāt let Eve know she can improve his mood so easily bc Adam is a SERYUS Brooding Musician ffs.
Then of course there are the obvious comparisons to IWTV (and IDK if these were intentional or not but the dynamic works as well here as it does in IWTV), which makes it a little bit of a VC AU:

^Never in the house you naughty girls!

^Little sisters to big bro/sis/makers: āWe are going to have S O Ā M U C H funāĀ
So yes, I loooooved OLLA. So many questions about those characters! I want the backstory on all of them. WHAT HAPPENED IN PARIS 87 YRS AGO?Ā

^Some bad shit went down in Paris for our faves, too.Ā
Sorry, Iāve had this for 2 months, but itās too broad a question, too many characters to think about!Ā I think it varies for different vampires at different times in their lives and unlives.Ā
Louis didnāt get very excited about Christmas until Claudia. She had been with them for only a few months, and then Christmas was upon them. Lestat transformed the parlor and courtyard into a little winter wonderland, Claudia was excited about that (and she put up a fight in March when he said they should really take it down), and she had a stack of presents under the tree on Christmas night.Ā
Her first priority was giving Louis his gift, which was a pack of drawings bound in a soft leather portfolio Lestat had picked out with her. Drawings she had done of him, Lestat, their little family, their house. He was deeply touched, and few Christmas gifts ever topped it. It was at that moment that he finally understood the point of that holiday and his anticipation for that kind of moment does build, he gets into the spirit of it with everyone else *u*
āBon anniversaire, ma petite! I would send you a doll, but some girls outgrow them at a certain age, apparently. Myself, Iām over 200 years old and I love dolls. Thereās no accounting for taste in some people.

Marius appreciates Louis for his human tenderness, his empathy, and Louis comes to Marius for paternal support. When they play strategy games like cards or chess, theyāre among the best-matched opponents in the coven. Pandoraās at their level, too. All three have excellent poker faces.Ā
Marius finds Louis aesthetically appealing but doesnāt have any romantic intentions towards him, but even so, he canāt help but be curious aboutĀ āupgradingā Louis. For how it might enhance Louis, but also possibly bc the act itself, the intimacy involved, is kind of tantalizing to think about ;]Ā
Thereās fic out there that Louis has occasionally modeled in the nude for Mariusā paintings ;}
Canon quote under the cut.Ā
Marius re: Louis, when heās consoling him that Lestat is still alive, in Queen of the Damned:
āHe smiled at Louis. Something in the manner of this one made Marius happy, though he wasnāt sure why.Ā He beckoned for Louis to come to him and they met at the foot of the table and walked together out of theĀ room. Marius put his arm around Louisās shoulder and they went down the iron stairs together, through theĀ damp earth, Marius walking slowly and heavily, exactly like a human being might walk.Ā
ā āAnd youāre sure of it?ā ā Louis asked respectfully.
Marius stopped. ā āOh, yes, quite sure.ā ā They looked at one another for a moment, and again Marius smiled.Ā This one was so gifted yet not gifted at the same time; he wondered if the human light would go out ofĀ Louisās eyes if he ever gained more power, if he ever had, for instance, a little of the blood of Marius in hisĀ veins.
ā¦Then heĀ embraced Louis again warmly. Just a little blood, and Louis might be stronger, true, but then he might loseĀ the human tenderness, the human wisdom that no one could give another; the gift of knowing others’Ā suffering with which Louis had probably been born.ā
Louis knows the LOTR trilogy by heart and heās read all the books. He likes to try to sneak quotes in when possible:

The whole coven agrees that theyāre all beautiful films, theyāre modern classics in a way. The LOTR movies are watched more often at coven gatherings than the Hobbit movies, but more because of the story and characters than the cinematography Louis has a not-so-secret crush on Aragorn that everyone likes to tease him about!
Louis knows all kinds of obscure trivia, and has debates about them with Armand, who has also read them all. Lestat, feeling left out of these discussions, tried to read the books and fell asleep repeatedly. He mispronounced the names of characters and places a few times and refuses to try to read them again for fear of further ridicule.Ā
Armand is very into the hobbits themselves as creatures and has gone to New Zealand with Daniel more than once to check out Hobbiton.
OMG u sweet thing u made my dayyyy!

[as a side note: I love pics of cats at this angle, but it is not VC, so I canāt really justify posting them, but send me pics like this bc I adore them maybe Iāll make a compilation of them]Ā [source]
