Nostalgia has partially unfailed this casting for me, after all, I think they needed someone who would be more of a paternal/father figure (as compared to Lestat) for Louis, and a 17 yr old Botticelli angel might not have had that gravitas for viewers who hadn’t read the book.

Truth serum: what is you favorite physical feature on Lestat

merciful-death:

TRUTH SERUM!
For the next 5 hours, my muse cannot lie about a n y t h i n g.

His mouth.

As he himself has described, it is impossibly expressive.  It is certainly true that his emotions can be seen in his ever-changing eyes as well, but it is his mouth that he molds so perfectly to his mood.

His smile can charm any man or woman he encounters—myself included—giving him this image of some suave youth that’s holding a mystery you cannot quite grasp, yet so entirely desire.  He needs not employ the Mind Gift on any of his victims of the little drink; all that is required is his smile.

Lestat pouts when he is upset or simply wishing to achieve something.  He is well aware of how I cannot bare that ridiculously childish look upon his face.  When he cannot win me over with that “shit eating grin,” as it would be called, he will pout.  I am ultimately a “sucker” for it.  I will disregard whatever previously held my attention with a sigh of exasperation before giving him that attention.

When irritated, he will set his lips in the finest line.  An argument can be predicted by that stillness.

He can look quite intimidating when angered, which is another matter that he has written of himself.  But it is not simply his “generous mouth” which gives that impression, of course.  His entire face morphs into a look of rage.  It is rare that even I encounter it; we’ve only had such intense fights a handful of times throughout our history.

Ah, but a description would be incomplete without noting all that his mouth is capable of as well.  While his grins and pouts might throw me into submission, the way his lips work upon my skin win me over to him completely, of which he is also utterly aware.  He will kiss behind my ears, trail down to my neck, whispering this and that all the way.  We will share a kiss between one another, sometimes rough, other times slow and passionate, and it is in those moments that I can do nothing but give myself over to him.  I ponder then if eternity could be comprised only of his lips upon my every inch of skin.

I can hardly blame those many that fall in love with him.  He is, unfortunately, irresistible at times.  A true Casanova, Lestat is.

don’t you wish such place existed

They would be divided according to fandom. Crossover fics would appear in all the fandoms they reference. The smut section would have red lighting (for red light districts, duh) and the fluff section would have bean bags and stuffed animals. The angst section would be between fluff and smut so you can cope as you choose. There would be divisions according to pairings. Fan art would decorate the walls. There would be special nights for readings. The computers could be used to write fic and reference the original canon. Each fandom section would be decorated according to the corresponding fandom. The staff would wear cosplays from various fandoms.

*sobs quietly because this doesn’t exist*

(;へ:) = What makes the character cry;

Loneliness, abandonment, pain, fear. Just the thought pulls her anxiety to the surface. Her body begins to tremble and her eyes water up.

。゚(TヮT)゚。 = What makes the character laugh;

Mischief, adventure, love. Claudia loves to get into trouble and being caught on the act, as long as the other isn’t negative about it, sends her into a giggle fit.

(´ q ` ” ) = The character’s “guilty” pleasure

She loves to be touched, anywhere. The skin to skin contact is comforting and fills her with pleasure. Though she would never admit it because some would consider it a weakness.

//Thank you!! ♥

I’m asked every day for pointers on fiction writing. Here goes: the first thing you have to do as a writer is write. You become the writer of your dreams by writing. Write, write, write. You aren’t a writer until you write, and all the pondering, considering, asking for career advice doesn’t matter until you actually write. Write what interests you, what obsesses you, and not what you think might interest or obsess some one else. Protect your own voice, your own vision, your own characters, your own stories. Go where the pain is; go where the pleasure is. Create the book you want to read, the book you want to live in; the book you love. And then be stubborn. Never cave to rejection or criticism. Just keep going until you find those who “get” what you are doing; and make yourself into the writer you want to be. Ponder the absolute value of individual imagination, individual eccentricity, individual discovery and surprise. And remember: the world needs you. If you don’t write the classics of tomorrow, we won’t have any.

Anne Rice, on writing (5/31/14)

“TL;DR” –> No really, read it. Regardless of what you think of her, it’s sound advice on writing.

David speaking of Merrick’s mask:

“It was now, in the dim daylight of the tent and the gold light of the one lantern, that I perceived how carefully and deeply the features were carved. The lips were thick and long and spread back as if in a scream. The eye ridges gave no surprise to the expression, only a sense of calm.” (Merrick, p.196)
