“Why do you say such things?”

I think
it’s my favorite scene in the movie, because it’s the one where – when you are
blank of later stories portrayal – you realize that Lestat is not this
one-dimensional villain. This scene is so symptomatic of his attitude:
first he’s all flame and rage, then he casts a bard, and
while fiercely smiling over his “victory”, he already regrets what he just said.
He does have a conscience, whatever kind of nasty or stupid things he can come up with, and he’s genuinely affected and
struggled by what he’s inflicting on his loved ones. He’s without any shadow of a doubt an unbearable brat, but also so much more than that. It’s not that this
dork has no affection for Louis and Claudia – he indubitably does – it’s just
than he doesn’t know how to hold a close/family relationship without being sometimes unfair and/or cruel.

Big shout
out for Kristen Dunst and Tom Cruise here, by the way. They are both amazing.

Lestat is that type of person who inboxes you and says “can u like my profile picture 😘?” Overuses smiley faces and emojis such as 😘😭😉😚;P. Always tags Louis on pictures (Louis constanlty removes tags) in the album BAE AND ME 😉 . He sent Louis a relationship request (it’s still pending). Tags everbody on his profile picture, so he would get more likes. Shares his profile pictures.
When he and Louis have a fight he posts some depressing love songs and statuses, writes things such as “everybody told me to forget you, but nobody told me how…#dedicated #L ; i am never going to trust anyone ever again…#L; sometimes, the person you’d take a bullet for ends up being the one behind the gun #L.”
Sometimes Armand asks him what’s wrong, he answers either with “nothing…I don’t want to talk about it” or “inbox pls, I don’t want to talk about it here”
Uses internet acronyms, jargon, cyber slang. Posts selfies every 5 minutes with lots of hashtags and of course, it’s connected to his Instagram.

Louis always posts some deep, philosophical statuses, and when he’s chatting with someone always ends sentences with ” … “
He blocked Lestat from posting hearts on his wall.
When Lestat gets his way and they do take a selfie togheter, in which Louis is satisfied how he looks, he cuts Lestat and puts it as his profile picture. Lestat tags himself on that little lock of hair that is barely visible in the corner.

Marius doesn’t know how to use Facebook, uses it rarely, only to check on Armand and to post his work in progress pictures on timeline, cause he doesn’t know how to make albums and occasionally shares scientific and historic links. When he does inbox somebody, he ends his message with something like
Best Regards,
Marius de Romanus

Armand posts everything, from pretty paintings, silly statuses, selfies, music to high scores in games. Tags Lestat on screamers. Photoshops Lestat’s face everywhere. Posts ugly photos of Lestat he took without him noticing and tags him. Five minutes later Armand gets a message in inbox that says ” Hey, I don’t like this photo of me. Please remove it. “
He doesn’t.

I’m confused by Lestat’s relationships with the other characters. I’ve been reading the books for a while now, but I’m still a little confused. Could you try and explain his relationships with Louis, Marius, Armand, Daniel, and David. What is Armand’s relationship like with Marius these days? Where are Daniel and David (presently speaking)? Who are they with? What are they like? I’m so overwhelmed with all of the books. Can you help?

I can’t explain all those relationships! Even the characters involved couldn’t explain them. They’re a big ol pile of dysfunctional hipster vampires and their ships are a hot mess. 

BUT I SHALL TRY. Nobody attack this please, I’m grossly over-simplifying for the sake of this one Anon’s overwhelmtion ;] #your headcanon may vary, #ship and let ship.

At their most basic:

  • Lestat/Louis – Murder husbands, OTP, 5ever
  • Lestat & Marius – not a pairing, but there’s definitely a mutual respect and caring in a paternal sorta way.
  • Lestat & Armand – not a pairing, but there’s definitely a mutual respect and caring in a fraternal sorta way MURDER BROS.
  • Lestat & Daniel – they’ve not had a lot of canon interaction but I’d bet Lestat is forever grateful that Daniel basically started the VC which eventually brought him back together with Louis. There’s fic and RP (see daniel-james-molloy)​ out there that would support a Lestat/Daniel BROTP, possibly an actual ship, I likes it.
  • Lestat/David – Post-TOBT David has had little canon interaction with Lestat in a loving fledgling/maker way. There have been one or two scenes of extreme feistiness between them, which were hot and problematic, but they seem to have reached a kind of amnesty and even care for eachother.
  • Armand & Marius – have a kind of amnesty between them. Marius has done some pretty insane things for Armand, with good intentions, but still.
  • Daniel is with Marius these days.
  • David is sort of a loner but he does visit with Louis, Lestat, and Jesse on occasion. They seem to be his closest friends.

I would say that the relationships change throughout the series, and that some ppl simply do not include certain books in their headcanon, which changes relationship dynamics, too. Including “present day” ship dynamics. For example, if you don’t include Prince Lestat in your VC headcanon, then Marius and Daniel have a different sort of (probably specifically and clearly) platonic relationship than they do if you DO include Prince Lestat.

Give me a vampire couple that’s been on and off again for like hundreds of years. Like they fight like crazy and break up and not see each other again for a long time but then come back together like nothing has changed and are all over each other in love. They won’t admit it but they’ll love each other forever no matter what, even if they’re not always together.

like seriously AU where everything is the same but Lestat became a singer in 2011 with sadcore indie pop instead of 80s rock and all the vampires were bitching about him waking up Akasha with his “weepy hipster crap”
