“…so often we pretend to be gods in Gucci clothes, and it’s nonsense. It’s just to reassure ourselves and live in this illusion that we are solid as hell and we’re not water, and we know what we’re doing. We don’t, and that’s okay. If you know everything, then you’re probably not open to new discoveries. mymorbiddesires:

As Gomez lips brushes over each of her fingers, kissing them delicately we catch Morticia subtly guiding him along. Their eyes spark to life with a unique light, as a playful and knowing smile crosses their features. They are fully enveloped in a desire and eternal love for one another.

This is all I want. And so I’ll wait as I continue searching for  the day I find the one to call my cara mia.

Dear Neil, I am a horrible person. How to be kinder, please?

neil-gaiman:

Sometimes I suspect we are all horrible people. Or at least, we are human people. Same thing. We are impatient, judgmental, irritating and irritated, grumpy, easily offended and the rest of it.

So how to be kinder if it doesn’t come naturally?

Fake it.

Fake it a little bit at a time.

Because there isn’t actually any difference between doing something nice for someone because you are naturally saintly and perfect, and doing something nice for someone because you are secretly demonic and trying to cover it up. It’s still an act of kindness either way, and you still made their lives better.

Smile at people. Say hullo. Ask about their lives. Remember what they’ve told you about their lives. Do small things to try and help them. (They will not know you are horrible, do not worry. They will just perceive that you are helping.)

Give people the benefit of the doubt. Remember that it’s more often stupidity to blame than evil, that everyone can screw up (including you) and what’s important is learning from that.

Think “What would an actually kind person do now?” – and do that. Don’t beat yourself up when you fail. Just be as kind to yourself as you will be to others – even if you have to fake that.

And good luck.

One last word to the ‘lovely’ anon spamming my ask box

artsortof:

• I won’t close my ask box because of you.

• I won’t close my anon ask box because of you.

• I won’t answer/post your hate anymore so stop trying to get attention

• I won’t stop posting my art because of you.

• I won’t follow your advice to kill myself

BUT:

• I will tell you to have a nice day, because I can!

^Excellent way to handle anon hate.

vcpositivity:

“The VC fandom has easily the best approach to the problematic aspects of canon I’ve ever seen from any fandom I’ve been in.”

There are a ton of problematic aspects in this canon, and it’s been so good to watch (and participate sometimes) when our fandom ppl have public discussions considering these problematic aspects within the context of the times those things take place in, the (subconcious and conscious) motivations of the characters, etc., in a thoughtful and respectful manner to canon and eachother.

One of the reasons I love fiction in general is that it offers “to hold as ‘twere the mirror up to nature,” as Shakespeare put it (Hamlet). Fiction can be considered a speculative reality in which we can have problematic things happen and see them play out fully, to better examine why they happen, and how they might be prevented in the future.

when you really want to draw but vampire …human anatomy refuses to work for you and you just sort of think for two hours what kind of shoes they’d wear in different eras.

When I get totally stuck I just use them as an excuse to draw different historical clothing. I should do that again; I haven’t drawn the vampires forever (or much else) because my confidence is crap. :S

Yes, that is exactly what I’m doing!  Also – they’re a good excuse to google a lot of scantily clad skinny men and draw. For the sake of practice.

I’ve only recently got into drawing them at all so it’s all still sort of taking shape. But yes you should – drawing clothes is so much fun and there’s never too much VC fan art around!
