Ok, I really need to get that done… I CHANGED THE HEADER JUST FOR YOU, ANON! TODAY! I took out the construction signage and gave the kitty a top hat. He is so dapper now. I’d like to keep him in the new layout somewhere and just change his hat/accessorize him on a regular basis… ANYWAY CONSTRUCTION CONTINUES, behind the screen, w/o signage!
The thing is, the new layout is currently… pastel grunge? More like just pastel. all lighter colors w/ a dark font and IDK how I feel about that. I’m resisting the transition. And my webmistress demands tags on the center bottom of posts and just… I LIKE THEM ON THE SIDE. Don’t you guys prefer them on the side? Like a side of French fries!
I think I need to stick with a similar color scheme and just make the layout more easily navigable. There won’t be fancy animated buttons or anything superfluous like that.
The other obstacle(s) is that I have yet to write up this stuff (and yes, I could put temp pages up, but I’d rather unveil it all at once!):
Nav page w/ all the really good links like “cut scenes.” “For RPers.” “Fanfic.” “Fanart Request,” and analysis/critique of VC so ppl can easily find that stuff.
FAQ for stuff I am frequently asked, and you’d be surprised but I am asked similar questions alot, one common topic is the order in which the books should be read (#order of operations for VC), just as an example.
About – so I could make it perfectly clear how unofficial a VC blog this is! Idk how I’d feel about being officially affiliated or approved by AR in some way… I’d be honored but I’d also worry about how that might limit my freedom of speech/reblogging of things that are critical of VC. We’ll cross that bridge if we ever come to it, and I’ll of course let you all know.

This interview… I’m sharing it bc I feel so much second-hand embarrassment for Tom whenever I watch it which is not often but I found it again today so I’m posting it here for… reasons. He shares this story, without hardly being prompted, about cutting off the oxygen of one of his passengers while in flight (starts at 2:32). Watching it, I just keep feeling, “Tom, no, stahp plz, oh gawds… begging you… FIRST OF ALL WHY WOULD U DO THAT?? Second of all, WHY WOULD U OFFER THAT STORY UP – I can’t even with you sometimes… You are in serious need of non-sexual corporal punishment.”
But the story is a very Lestat thing to do and it’s a very Lestatuesque way to tell it, as he’s cracking up, with what can only be described as manic laughter. He keeps hiding his face probably bc he knows he’s dug himself in too deep with this story, but he has to keep going, even though he probably knows he can only make it worse.

According to director Mary Harron, Bale saw in Cruise "this very intense friendliness with nothing behind the eyes” and Bale subsequently based the character of Bateman on that.“
// The number one thing that bothers me about Rose’s story in PL is that she both swallows and has acid thrown on her face and neck, including her eyes, and is somehow healed perfectly by the magic of Vampire blood. I realize it is a supernatural story, and that I am able to suspend my disbelief to believe that Vampires are real in the story and that they fly and all the other stuff. And their blood has been proven to heal wounds, though it has its limits. It cannot regrow limbs or organs lost before the transformation.
So Rose, who is both blind and mute by the end of the ordeal, should not have been able to be healed with Blood. I feel like it’s AR’s way of making everything okay for her special Mary Sue Self Insert. After all, if her plan all along is to kill off two strong female characters by the end of the book, one whom happens to be blind, and the other mute, then of course the special snowflake won’t be disabled either.
I firmly believe I’ve read Rose’s chapters more times than anyone by this point, all in the name of perfecting her nonexistent character. What happens is I find a trait mentioned in one sentence or one line and extrapolating out that to her whole life. Now, the same could be said of many side characters in VC. But I still feel like the end to Rose’s story could have been far more interesting than what we were given.

Not specifically about the acid (bc I have not reread her sections i just can’t bring myself to revisit that entire book yet), but I think you’ve actually articulated here what I couldn’t, about why I still can’t find love in my heart for her, an entire year after the release of that book. It’s not just me being a cranky old Earlier Canon Was Better preacher! *sobs* Thank you, nodominion-mun. It took guts to actually put this out there.
