Lot 258 of 410: TOM CRUISE INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE PROP

Warner Bros., 1994, Lestat’s thumb talon, worn in the film by Tom Cruise while bloodletting his victims. Made of steel with engraved floral design, the talon is contained in a black coffin shaped case with the name “Neil” on the lid. The item was donated by the film’s director Neil Jordan. case 9 1/8 inches PROVENANCE: UNICEF Ireland, Movie Action For Children Auction, held at Sotheby’s New York, March 6, 2001.

It sold for $5,000! I can’t decide if that’s too much or too little for a steel ring movie prop, but at least the money went to a good cause. And at least we have a decent pic of it for the engravings… bc of reasons…

Santa Lestat: I’ve been a very good girl this year. The only thing I want and need is my loved one to show up at my door. Even for a few hours. I just need that spacial person, the most precious I have in my life to come and see me for a while. If he stayed, that’d be a bonus. Please?

If you mean yours truly, well… I hate to deny very good girls the very best gifts, but I am also an impulsive bastard who hates scheduling things, being expected at a certain time. 

…This is why I need to go on tour again, so I can “visit” with a stadium full of people who love me, and point at them from just off-stage and glare at Louis, “See how much they love me? They’re chanting my name! They’re starving for me! Why can’t you be more like THEM?”

^yah so I don’t have access to any photoshoppin’ tools rn but whatever… that is yours truly and @roselioncourt.

So LOTS of things happening and tbh I’m a little overwhelmed by all the info we’ve gotten in the last week, and the posts in response, some of which I’ve seen… and I was trying to keep up w/ it all on my phone the whole frickin’ time it was happening (I have 100+ tabs open *laughcries* and the phone is not a happy camper)… it’s a little overwhelming. 

As Ron Swanson famously said: “Never half-ass two things. Whole-ass one thing.” I’m gonna whole-ass all the things when I have the time this weekend, I got all your messages and plan to do massive replies. Also need to make a post about the PLROA booksigning, I took notes (altho there is a video of it on the official VC FB).

… I also have to read the new book (!!!)… I asked for spoilers and you should know that I *facepalmed* or “Oh, Anne”’d at almost every new piece of canon information.

Interview with the Vampire (1994) dir. Neil Jordan

I remember seeing this movie in the theater and thinking “They should kiss. Why aren’t they kissing? OMG KISS. WAIT NO KISS FOR SERIOUS WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON???” I hadn’t read the books at that point, but I remember being baffled by that. Ahhh I have learned so much about the media since.

Nearly 100% positive that @sheepskeleton is an actual 14th century vampire and @i-want-my-iwtv is an actual vampire scholar/Talamasca/X-Files Agent/Whatever supernatural research center she’s keeping secret.

oh no, why.. would.. you… even… think… that?

I knew my face is not going to pass for a human in this damned century. What betrayed me? 

-detailed knowledge of ancient history (so you’re probably older than my original guess)

-adoration for things that evoke strong mental reactions (gorgeous cityscapes, powerful pics of nature, luxuary fashion that emulates previous eras…)

-insane levels of attention to detail in works of art. 

-unearthly outer beauty and genius-level intellect along with being artistically talented beyond belief. 

Definitely a vampire.

No ok but this is one of the sweetest things I’ve ever heard??? I seriously do not deserve such compliments and also delivered in such a way, I am melting 

@sheepskeleton is a vampire, confirmed. I know this bc… I am her MAKER.

For my birthday this year, the lovely @gairid sent me this spectacularly appropriate Dark Gift of the full set of the Adagio tea VC fandom blends [source], designed by @underhyll​*.  I had pined for the set but couldn’t choose which characters I wanted to drink from (hehehe), but having the whole set now, well, THEY ARE ALL DELICIOUS. 

And if you think I saved Lestat’s flavor for last, you are very wrong. He was up first, and his sweetness and bite were exactly right, very in character  ^,….,^

@gairid informs us that “Marius makes a lovely iced tea sweetened with honey,” I shall have to try that. He sounds like an ideal spring/summer flavor. Also, that “Louis is just gorgeous (which makes sense).” It does make sense! He very much is. “I agree about Lestat, too…crisp with a little snap to it!”

So far though, Louis is my favorite. Early grey, blackberry, and lavender. It’s smooth, wholesome with a touch of sweetness, almost like caramel. Must drink w/ a candle nearby, optional: while wearing Lestat’s thumb ring**

The contents in the tins are artful in their own natural way, so I took pics of mine. I love how the Louis blend is dark, the Lestat and Claudia blends flanking his are basically blonde! 

I’ll be posting reviews of the other flavors later 😉

*They may or may not be developing more character blends… !

**I’m looking for a jeweler who can make more of these thumb rings; I got mine at Hot Topic in the 90′s and it is pretty fragile, so I rarely wear it. Would love to redesign it out of more durable metal…
