Can someone make Garrett Borns a vampire? Please? He’s so beautiful, and has the voice of an angel. I think he’d make a gorgeous Louis.
#VC casting #YES
@annabellioncourt pointed this out to me and I have to agree that he’d make a a great vampire, and specifically, a gorgeous Louis
♥u♥
Also, as a side note, he’s 24 yrs old in 2016, so we’d have an actor playing really close to the canon age of the character!!! which is always good, bc he’s actually living that point in his life now, might be a little more authentic than reflecting back on it.
So he’s a singer and a model, and I looked up a few vids and couldn’t choose just one as an example. You can do the youtube and check him out there, but here’s a few things I had thoughts on:
[X] ^LOOKIT THIS SMILE. He has dimples which I think is a huge plus. Louis is, in fact, capable of smiling. I imagine Lestat made him wear the shades bc of reasons.
Lestat: “Oh, big Beatles fan? You like John Lennon so very much? Why don’t you wear shades like his, here- ”
Louis: “Those are more ELTON John than John Lennon, Lestat.”
Lestat: “Put them on or I’ll put them on for you.”
^His little smile, in this dreamy lighting, he’s got that ethereal quality we require in a Louis.
^”Oh god Lestat, what fresh hell have you caused?” He’s got the right build, too, that muscular but spare body.
Hit the jump for a fewww moar.
^”That sounds awful deal with it YOURSELF” Louis is actually COLD AS ICE.
^Someone is gonna get yelled at for unauthorized haircut.
[X] ^Also on this VC casting note, some ppl have suggested Paul Boche as Lestat and I have resisted it, but seeing him w/ Miles McMillan here, it’s very Louis & Lestat, oui? They look like they have really good chemistry and that matters more to me than looks alone w/ acting *u*
Okay, I know that I already submitted stuff to you before, but I think I have discovered something really cool. It seems to me that it’s the original script for the movie. However, I have not dug deep research into it.
Anyways, it’s very VERY morbid compared to the movie and in some parts is more like the book (and others, especially in the beginning, aren’t but are intriguing??).
@i-want-my-iwtv replied: Yes! I’m aware of this version of the script, April 1992, second draft (allegedly, but I bet there were a lot more drafts). Pretty easy to find, and this is the one that is probably most commonly printed out for the actors to sign, when you see autographed copies up on eBay.
It is a really fun read, even w/ the slightly ooc dialogue at times, but I can understand that AR was trying to shoehorn in as much canon as she could and I can’t fault her for that goal! And yes, it includes scenes that didn’t make it into the final cut. Some weren’t even filmed 😛
It has little gems in it like the names of Louis’ wife and child who died:
“DIANNE DE POINTE DU LAC 1763 – 1791 INFANT JEAN MARIE – 1791”
^Dianne would have been a little older than Louis, if she died at 28 ;A; And really, “DiANNE”? Nice author cameo, AR. Very smooth ;]
Fortunately for us, some of the filmed scenes that didn’t make it into the final cut still had production stills taken which were used in pre-release publicity (collected them in my #cut scenes tag) like this one:
^I think this was another early Tryna-Get-This-Dumb-Fledgling-To-Kill-People scene, before Louis ran off to chill in the sewers for a bit.
This version of the script also has a rewrite of the Lestat/Gabrielle waking-up-inside-a-crowded-church scene, but Louis and Claudia w/Lestat instead of Gabrielle!
lunchiemunchies: #I WOULD’VE LOVED TO SEE THIS EXCHANGE #BECAUSE LOUIS IS LAUGHING AND THAT MAKES LESTAT WANT TO LAUGH #IT WOULD’VE BEEN SUCH A CUTE LITTLE MOMENT #AND A FUNNY SCENE SINCE THEY’D SCARE THE PEOPLE #INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE
In canon, Louis doesn’t speak a lot in French (sometimes the narrative will indicate the characters have switched to another language but the writing will continue in English for the benefit of the reader). He does throw in a mon dieu! (my god!) here and there. He says it when Lestat first picks him up to show him he has the Cloud Gift in QOTD.
It’s fanon that Louis and Lestat still speak to each other in French, an older version of it that mortals usually aren’t all that familiar with. Lestat still remembers a few old French songs from his childhood.
Louis is actually French, his family moved to New Orleans from France before he took over the plantation from his father: “You see, we lived far better [in Louisiana] than we could have ever lived in France.” – IWTV. So French was most likely his native language.
He gives the interview in English because that’s the language Daniel speaks, and Louis must have learned it at some point, probably in his travels with Armand. But the languages he probably spoke in New Orleans during his ~70 years there were French and Creole, and then when he goes to Paris, he would have spoken the more classic French and he probably had a noticeably Americanized accent, yet another reason for them to dislike him bc TOURISTS.
@vampchronfic would back me up on this: So I want to say Yes. Louis spends many pleasurable evenings reclining on a plush couch at the Rue Royale, with Lestat’s arm wrapped around his shoulders, a comfy blanket over them both, reading together with their favorite music on, or bingewatching something like Peaky Blinders… we all know Lestat can’t sit perfectly still for very long, so you know he’s petting Louis with his free hand, maybe rearranging the pillows around them, you know… cuddly fidgeting *u*
Louis’ default expression was never a full smile, but it’s closer to a smile now than it ever was in the past. He has the Mona Lisa partial-smile nailed down, and it’s natural. He’s visited Hell and been brought back, found Earth much more pleasant in comparison. He’s got his angel, and they can communicate now in a way that was impossible before. There’s still friction, but any healthy relationship has that and they’re both so in tune with each other that they can diagnose an issue before it spirals too far out of control, “Wait. Are you saying that because you mean it, or are you cranky because you’re hungry?”They’re huge toddlers and it’s usually that.
Who in this world is super smiley all day everyday kind of happy? But yes, Louis is as close to everyday kind of happy that he’s ever been ❤
Okay trying this again (not on the tablet and in the correct blog!)–I’m in full agreement with #i-want-my-iwtv. It’d be odd if Louis had a big ole grin plastered on his face all the time, but as far as contentment and happiness, he’s as close to that as he has ever been in his long life. Lestat knows it and as far as Louis’s concerned, that’s what matters. Because he presents a rather sober appearance you might get the idea he is humorless, but those are the ones you have to watch out for – he’ll slay the room (if you will pardon the expression) with a well-placed one liner. As for smiling–sure he does—but those mega-watt smiles? I’d guess he saves most of those for Lestat.
