Hey, what’s ur impression of lixncourt? Are they a good person? I want to ask, but I’m too scared and shy. Is mun nice?

Y’know, @lixncourt‘s been on here at least a year but I actually only just found out about them recently myself, mun and muse seem nice enough to me! There’s a lot of RP and a lot of muns

out there, I’d like to get to know more of them better.

So that mun loves my blog, and they use Tom Cruise as a faceclaim and I am of course biased towards liking him so hopefully they’re into the VC spirit in a similar way that I am; VC positivity, inclusiveness, and poking fun at our fave dysfunctional vampires in a respectful sorta way.

If you’re looking for a Lestat to RP with there are a pile of them out there at any given time, but whether they’re active or welcome new RP partners is up to each one individually. Most Lestats are happy to respond to Asks tho!

Here are some Lestats I’ve seen around somewhat recently (in no particular order):

@thelionscrimsonclaws, @bravenotstubborn, @lestatdelight-archive, @thevampireforthesetimes, @xxconsumed, @gottalovelestat, @malveillants-bratprince, @lebratprincelestat

Does Louis talk much in French? I’m trying to recall if so, but am drawing a huge blank and it’s bugging me. Help?

In canon, Louis doesn’t speak a lot in French (sometimes the narrative will indicate the characters have switched to another language but the writing will continue in English for the benefit of the reader). He does throw in a mon dieu! (my god!) here and there. He says it when Lestat first picks him up to show him he has the Cloud Gift in QOTD.

It’s fanon that Louis and Lestat still speak to each other in French, an older version of it that mortals usually aren’t all that familiar with. Lestat still remembers a few old French songs from his childhood.

Louis is actually French, his family moved to New Orleans from France before he took over the plantation from his father: “You see, we lived far better [in Louisiana] than we could have ever lived in France.” – IWTV. So French was most likely his native language.

He gives the interview in English because that’s the language Daniel speaks, and Louis must have learned it at some point, probably in his travels with Armand. But the languages he probably spoke in New Orleans during his ~70 years there were French and Creole, and then when he goes to Paris, he would have spoken the more classic French and he probably had a noticeably Americanized accent, yet another reason for them to dislike him bc TOURISTS.

Bonus:

I found this fun Creole Dictionary online, check it out!

Here’s a sample of Creole compared to plain French:

English: I will never abandon you.

Creole: Mo va jamé bandonné twa.

French: Je ne t’abandonnerai jamais.

[French speakers are welcome to correct me on this, but this is my translation of the above for the sake of comparison]

In the Creole, it seems more casual, but still conveys the feeling: “Me gonna neva’ ‘bandon ya.”

  • “Mo” seems to be like “Moi” which is “Me” or “myself" in French.
  • “Va” the verb “to go,” but it’s used before a lot of verbs, “bandonnĂ©â€ is “to abandon” so it’s “going to abandon” when you put them together.
  •  "jamĂ©â€ seems to be like the French “jamais” which means “never.”
  • “twa” seems to be like “Toi” which is the informal “you” in French.

In the French, it’s more direct, and classier: "I would not abandon you ever" basically.

  • “Je” is “I”
  • “ne” is part of the “jamais,” meaning “never”
  • “t’abandonnerai” this is the “would” form of “abandon” plus the “t’” for the informal “you.” So it’s “would abandon you” all put together.
  • “jamais,” meaning “never”

Do you think Louis will ever be truly happy some day? Like super smiley all day everyday kind of happy.

vampchronfic:

i-want-my-iwtv:

Louis is in fact capable of smiling, you know!

@vampchronfic would back me up on this: So I want to say Yes. Louis spends many pleasurable evenings reclining on a plush couch at the Rue Royale, with Lestat’s arm wrapped around his shoulders, a comfy blanket over them both, reading together with their favorite music on, or bingewatching something like Peaky Blinders
we all know Lestat can’t sit perfectly still for very long, so you know he’s petting Louis with his free hand, maybe rearranging the pillows around them, you know
 cuddly fidgeting *u*

Louis’ default expression was never a full smile, but it’s closer to a smile now than it ever was in the past. He has the Mona Lisa partial-smile nailed down, and it’s natural. He’s visited Hell and been brought back, found Earth much more pleasant in comparison. He’s got his angel, and they can communicate now in a way that was impossible before. There’s still friction, but any healthy relationship has that and they’re both so in tune with each other that they can diagnose an issue before it spirals too far out of control, “Wait. Are you saying that because you mean it, or are you cranky because you’re hungry?” They’re huge toddlers and it’s usually that.

Who in this world is super smiley all day everyday kind of happy? But yes, Louis is as close to everyday kind of happy that he’s ever been ❀

Okay trying this again (not on the tablet and in the correct blog!)–I’m in full agreement with #i-want-my-iwtv. It’d be odd if Louis had a big ole grin plastered on his face all the time, but as far as contentment and happiness, he’s as close to that as he has ever been in his long life. Lestat knows it and as far as Louis’s concerned, that’s what matters. Because he presents a rather sober appearance you might get the idea he is humorless, but those are the ones you have to watch out for – he’ll slay the room (if you will pardon the expression) with a well-placed one liner. As for smiling–sure he does—but those mega-watt smiles? I’d guess he saves most of those for Lestat.

Happy New Year

amadeo-child-of-the-renaissance:

It’s only 7 pm in Italy, but I’ll be busy, so I’m wishing you a happy new year a little earlier.
And here’s a gentle reminder for all vampires with the air-gift: don’t fly tonight. Stay safely on the ground so you won’t run a risk at catching fire.
