i remember Anne said on FB once that someone’s tattoos would probably go really light and lacey/elegant looking after they’re turned, but remain in a way that looks ~ethereal~ lolol
^I’d have to find the post but I would imagine that AR means that the tattoo will “go really light and lacey/elegant looking” over time, not at the moment of turning, but it could be interpreted either way.
It would have been nice if she had answered your whole question and included whether any of them DO have tattoos, and maybe
I do answer asks directed to Lestat under #Lestat muse! His responses are just a touch edgier than mine, a little wordier bc I’d imagine he likes flexing his vocabulary, he’s a Writer, an Actor, an ARTIST. I imagine that he’d love blogging, getting questions from fans and that whenever he sits down to do it, he’s in a good mood, recently fed and warm and wanting to be generous with his affection and his time. So it’s somewhat //ooc bc the ‘real’ Lestat would probably be much sharper, have a shorter fuse, than the way I treat him.
I’m super picky about what I reblog bc I try to keep posts to a 10/day limit, but I do have a #Lestat likes this tag, and #Lestats closet, for stuff I think he’d like/have. It’s a very high compliment that you feel like this blog is actually run by him <333 I’ve always been drawn to his sense of humor, some of his fashion sense aligns with mine, and his overall desire to give/receive affection is something I can relate to, even if we both fail at it sometimes. He’s an enormous failure in many ways but he keeps trying.
I am aware, bc I’ve read all of canon (except, not yet finished PLROA I’M SO SORRY but it will happen!), that he is also extremely problematic and I choose not to discuss my opinions about that publicly, but it is something I do grapple with privately. Reconciling some of his worst crimes against others with the loving, sassy, charming being he can be and wants to be most of the time, that’s a challenge. I choose to focus on the positive aspects of this fictional character in public.
Full disclosure, I got this a little over a week ago, and I meant to reply sooner, but I was hanging onto it, just kinda hoarding it for the feels, I hope you still feel the same way 9 days later and at least one post about problematic stuff *laughcries*
I used to have a rule about asks, responding within 48 hours, and I’ll try to honor that again!
(Oh, I would think Lestat might bottom more often in Lestat/Nicolas fics, try searching for that pairing on AO3! You’re welcome, re: that one fic I rec’d, I hope you like it, even though it does come with a lot of warnings.)
Thank u for loving this blargh! Much appreciated <333
I’m super picky about the comics/memes I make so that means alot when they are well-received ^u^ Like I don’t want to just drown y’all in this stuff and the idea has to be funny enough to be worth the effort, too. Even with good text, gotta find the right expressions and all that, too.
But also, I think to get this kind of reaction from ppl that don’t even know what’s going on…
@gublerrussia reblogged this from @i-want-my-iwtv and added: I don’t know what this is but it’s fucking hilarious.
…that’s an accomplishment too! Making fun of our dysfunctional faves transcends canon and fanon, oui?
Kapetria’s Tale and the saga of the Replimoids are simultaneously the most boring and the most cracky sections of the book. I cackled over the Space Birb aliens that created the Replimoids, but I don’t think I’ll ever reread those sections.
The sections about the hijinks of Lestat and his vampire court? Those are more like what I want/expect from a Vampire Chronicles book. For example, I am terribly fond of Prince Lestat, and have reread it a couple of times. Is it as good as the original Vampire Chronicles trilogy? No.
Finally, Anne Rice has stated herself (not that I can find links to the interviews where she said it) that she had been working on a stand-alone Atlantis book for over a decade, but couldn’t get it to where she was happy with it, and decided that it should be combined with a Vampire Chronicles book. I … do not agree with her authorial choices about this.
TL;DR: No one should feel they have to slog through Kapetria’s Tale in RoA. Yes, it ends up changing the whole mythology and backstory of the vampires, but … I reject those changes.
Thanks for your addition, @gothiccharmschool! Very much appreciated, and I am with you 100% on wanting more hijinks of Lestat and his vampire court! Good reminder about reading your liveblog of PLROA, I’m sure your liveblog can help me get through it.

I, too, do not agree with her authorial choices about this. Here’s her quote about doing her specialty VC-mashup funtimes for PLROA:
… i, too, am unable to finish PLROA for MONTHS bc of Kapetria’s Tale! FOR THE SAME REASONS. I mean maybe it’s not boring to some ppl? But for me, I’m just… I was weirded out before by the Replimoids and getting to her tale I just didn’t want to buy more of what was being sold.
So I have been really struggling to pick it up again EVEN THO IT IS RIGHT ON MY DESK IN PLAIN VIEW, mocking me every day that I don’t just CRACK IT OPEN AND TAKE MY MEDICINE like I should if I really cared about this series (which I clearly do).
I went and asked around & skimmed ahead bc I very much like to be spoiled, and I won’t spoil you here, but from what I skimmed and from what I’ve been told, I don’t think you need to know Kapetria’s Tale to understand the rest of the book. It goes back to our vampires and their shenanigans and SCIENCE, and in the old days we might have called this all very “cracky” stuff, but the ending might even have been written before the Atlantis portion was added in, it seems to depend so little on it, but again, that’s from my spoilage.
…But currently? What are ppl’s thoughts on how PLROA ends? I would like ppl to speak freely, so there may be spoilers in comments/reblogs.
Message me privately, if you prefer, and I’ll add it to this post under a cut if it’s spoilery.
“I was working on a novel called Born for Atlantis, and I just couldn’t get it to work. I thought, “What if I could somehow combine this with Lestat and the vampires?” And it was like, everything worked. Something happens to me when I write from Lestat’s point of view. There’s no question about it. By the time I was done, it felt inevitable, like it always had been…. It was a rare experience.”
Thanks a lot to @i-want-my-iwtv! You’re great and I love your blog and your positive passion for vc chronicles
I’ll display your wonderful postcard with the whole series 😉
And thanks also to @ashetray for the beautiful fanart (that shocked my father a bit when he took the postcard from the mailbox LOOL loved it!)
Ps: sorry for the awful picture but I’m not good at taking them ;__;
Merci! I’m sure @ashetray is as honored (or more!) as I am to have that fanart in such a high place of honor ❤ Now I gotta get his handwriting right…
Your poor dad, well… postal workers and parents have been getting little shocks all over the world from these postcards… maybe he needs to be informed about this sort of thing anyway! Maybe Louis just wanted that shirt and the hair ribbon? hehehe… 😉
thank u so much, that really means alot! I saved this message for almost a week bc it really made my night <333
Not to get TOO flowery and sappy here, but the world is getting to be a tougher and tougher place, so to have this little space, a little fantasy, a little escape from reality, to pour some of my creativity and enthusiasm into, and encourage others to do so, too, is a gift that gives to everyone who appreciates it, and that’s a big deal, to me, anyway <– whoa run-on sentence how DARE I? Whateva whateva i do what i want.
(Japan pics coming soon, and a cute vid of me feeing the foxes at a fox village wherein you’ll get to hear my 11 yr old girl voice wooo!)
