@i-want-my-iwtv blog turning 3 yrs old on 7/25/16!

[^X from my first post!]

From the fans who fell into VC since before my time, to the fresh blood (heh heh) who are just wading into it w/ us now, you’ve all made my tumblr experience so rich, I can’t even properly express how blown away I am on a daily basis how many of you send me such lovely messages and intriguing asks, and fanart, etc. and just… how, with your input, this blog has become the blog I wanted to find for all the years I searched for one. Thank you all for laying your affections w/ me over this pile of dysfunctional vampires!

So in the absence of a Follow Forever I’m doing a giveaway ^u^

I bought a few copies of VC books, and I will send them anywhere in the world as long as you have an address I can post snail mail to (and that you’re willing to share your address with me, of course!). The winners will be drawn randomly from ppl who reblog this post.

  • 5 books up for winning: IWTV (gold hardcover), the Witching Hour (large paperback, it’s VC adjacent bc of the later crossover books), IWTV (paperback), TOBT (paperback w/ dual covers), Merrick (paperback). I may add a few more winnable things to this.
  • Winner also gets a personal handwritten message from me in the book or separately on a card. Winner specifies.
  • I will contact the winners here on tumblr, so keep your ask/chat open. If I cannot reach you in 48 hours, I will have to pick another winner :-
  • Only Reblogs will count as entries, and only one per blog counts.
  • No “giveaway” blogs can win.
  • I will not be able to disburse tracking for the mail, sorries, but you can send me $ for it via paypal.
  • This giveaway ends July 29, 2016.

Thank you for again for validating my presence in the fandom here, sharing fanworks, headcanons, the RPers. You’re all wonderful and I feel lucky to have you following me!

*~*~*~*~Merci beaucoup and bonne chance!~*~*~*~*

BC of my absence this week I couldn’t reblog this ;A; so I’m extending it a bit longer, and throwing in 3 IWTV DVDs! They’re US-formatted, so NTSC.

Giveaway ends August 3, 2016.

Relevant info 7/29/16: Lestat’s not going to die in this book or ever ^_____^

[FB post, article in the post]

As someone who is deeply in love with VC, but behind on reading and lacking time…I’m a little embarrassed to ask…but what is Night Island? Is it an actual island? What’s the history there? Who owns an island? What do they do there? Or is it like a mini Vampire island/country, is there a king? Thanks in advance!

There’s no shame in asking for a refresher on a canon thing ;] While I can’t give you the full history (check out the Vampire Companion for that), in brief:

Night Island was built by the vampire Armand as a gift to his mortal lover Daniel Molloy, to share w/ Daniel, and it is vividly described in Queen of the Damned. I gather that it is in fact a complex built on a man-made island (which does not exist IRL sorries) off the shore of Miami, Florida, USA. Daniel describes it as such:

“And Armand, he was probably roaming the dimly lighted rooms of the villa, steps away from the tourists and the shoppers, yet utterly cut off by steel doors and white walls – a sprawling palace of floor-length windows and broad balconies, perched over white sand. Solitary, yet near to the endless commotion, its vast living room facing the twinkling lights of the Miami shore.”

“… the Night Island, Armand’s own personal creation with its five dazzling glass stories of theaters, restaurants, and shops.”

[^This will be yer face if you visit there]

It’s meant to be a kind of universe of funtimes, where mortals can enjoy all kinds of entertainment, so it’s a big source of revenue for Armand, but more importantly, it’s where the coven gather and bond over a short period of time after a really harrowing shared adventure.

You know what sounded like a great idea, let’s paint Lestat in a flower crown, yes that character from a movie that nobody has seen in 10 years that came out on VHS in the 80′s. Yeah let’s do that!

I’m about 6-8 hours in at this point and still have a good amount of work ahead of me. I’ve decided since starting this project though that if Lestat ever ran a tumblr blog it would be nothing but pictures of hot guys in flower crowns, cigarettes, white mochas, quotes that point out how he’s better than he everyone else, and occasionally crazy posts about Brad Pitt leaving him that everyone will think is about his boyfriend.

I’m pretty sure I’m going to throw him up in my print shop after this because everyone needs a pastel Lestat on a mug with a catchy play on words right? Or at least I do.

PS: I’m also trying a new painting style for this to stick more with my blending oil style that I do when I paint on actual canvas.

Fabulous!

I really want to know your stance on the musical – I personally love the score, but think that the book and production value tore it apart.

^fanart by @garama, who must have seen it live or the video of it, and has drawn fanart based on the musical, so he must have liked it! This is one of my all-time fave fanarts of Nicki/Lestat ❤ i just want to buy a whole graphic novel in this beautiful heartfelt style is that so much to ask *cries*

Some ppl loved Lestat the Musical, and more power to them! I am jealous of them. IDK if you saw the SF version or NYC version, live or video of it, but I saw the NYC version live and I did not like it. I partially blame the NYC producers for that, bc they apparently stripped out alot of the flair and gay stuff, maybe they were afraid it was pushing the envelope too far? But isn’t that what theatre is supposed to do? *sigh*

You can find ppl who enjoyed it, and other stuff about it, in my #Lestat the Musical tag.

Sadly, I mostly feel second-hand embarrassment for Lestat the Musical bc I made the mistake of inviting my cousin to go w/ me. She was not in the fandom, and she was uncomfortable the whole time *facepalm* Idk I thought she’d be into it, but the NYC version we saw was stripped so bare, and there was little to engage with. I can’t even listen to the soundtrack! It just brings me back to how disappointed I was in the bareness of the production, at the whole audience’s lack of enthusiasm… much cry, very sad.

So I have to be cautiously optimistic about the adaptation in the works and hope that they considered Lestat the Musical and can avoid its pitfalls.
