Using anon’s question about your header as an opportunity, I’ve always wanted to let you know: The visual identity of your blog is so well thought. I love it.
THANK YOU SO MUCH but Really?! You love the blog’s visual identity? That is very generous of you and much appreciated.
However, a massive revamp (pun intended har har) of this blog is in the works. If I may be self-deprecative for a moment, I’ve looked at it for over 2 years, so hit the jump for a list of what assaults my eyeballs when I look at this blog now.
The logo is safe, feedback already received on that, and the content will still be what you’ve come here for ^______^ The mission statement is still “Bursting blood vessels through fanworks!” But OVERALL it needs a more harmonized style, a touch of maturity in the color scheme, bc this thing has changed me. I’m not the same person who started this thing as mainly a cloud storage for the fanart I’ve collected. It’s grown into smtg so so much richer than that *u*
Fortunately, my longest RL VC friend (can you believe she has tolerated me for 20+ years?? She is my sister from another mister) is a programmer and she is gonna hold my hand through the process.
Stuff that assaults my eyes:
- The layout of the tiles,
- not enough tiles,
- the Like and Reblog buttons. I don’t like them as text. I think I want to make them the familiar symbols. And larger.
- the color scheme… I am kind of sick of slate-grays and purples 😛
- too many font colors…
- the difficulty of reading the text against the individual post BGs…
- the current bloodied-wall/distressed-velvet background. It’s not grunge, it’s too high-contrast, it’s an assault 😛
- Could think of more, but that’s the worst of it, for now.
Dear sweet baby Jesus! where was this blog all my life? Bless you, I love you, I barely stumbled last night on your blog. Again, I’m going to sound like a cray-cray but with so few and scattered blogs and news about the Vampire Chronicles you’re like my ray of sunshine in the middle of a dark and endless night. And I found so many posts, reblogs, opinions, IC material on Nicolas <3 I don't have any question for now, I'm just happy to have found this blog!

I try to make this thing what I would have wanted to find when I was 15 and couldn’t find the fanworks, the good screencaps, the whole fandom experience. Notes like yours let me know the mission is being accomplished ;]

A Nicolas lover, hm? YOU ARE JUST IN TIME for my latest VC casting choice for him, and other ppl might not agree but whatever: Benedict Samuel was so great in The Walking Dead mid-season premiere this past wknd, he’s so Nicki!

He has everything I’m looking for in a Nicolas: the right age, brooding, sassyness, vulnerability, big loving eyes, cruel and sweet humor, and he can phase between all these so quickly. The acting seems to come from a deep understanding of his character’s motivations and emotional turbulence, waves overlapping the emotional palette.
Which can’t all be captured in one gif, especially from the limited gif options out there. So here’s one in which he’s obviously holding back from doing smtg, holding back the cynical comment that could destroy a room, hiding his vast darkness from whoever’s in a 5 mile radius. Getting dressed to go against his will present the Marquis’ son w/ new boots and the red velvet cloak as payment for ridding their town of the wolf pack that was threatening everyone.
This shot below is from The Walking Dead, but it also looks like that one time Lestat used telekinesis on Nicki in TVL, slamming him into the wall with an invisible fist, neither of them knowing what he’d done, or how it happened, in their old dressing room at Renaud’s, soon to be the Theatre des Vampires.
The only real question is, can he play violin? Can he learn?

Hello there, another anon! 😉 Right off the bat, check out @remarried, she is hella awesome ❤ garama used to make cool VC art but he doesn’t anymore and deleted most of his old stuff but check out his blog anyway and @i-want-my-iwtv (aside from having an awesome VC blog herself!) has a nice collection of his works. @ashetray did some hella rad VC fanarts, so did @devmin-art. But I reccommend going into @i-want-my-iwtv‘s fanart tag, you will surely find something to enjoy 😉

Yes, @sheepskeleton is among those she mentioned as great fanartists in our fandom! We do have a bunch more active ones, but there is definitely some gold (older works or works by artists who have only done a small number of VC pieces) in my #fanart tag. All of our fanartists are awesome and some are even open to suggestion, if you send them an ask with a good prompt.
Some other VC fanartists that come to mind in addition to those already mentioned above, in no particular order:
@anaryawe, @jealizing, @kotilae, @n2015n, @amadeo-child-of-the-renaissance, @chrissydeath, @hedonistbyheart (more from this person on their deviantart page), @garama does spoil us by posting VC occasionally so I must keep them in this list, @obsessional-ram

Aw thank u! I kind of regret bringing it up, but the flesh is always better on the other side of the window… oui?
Real talk here, though: I love that they chose a realistic woman for Claudia to want to be, not some stick-figure blonde. Later, the lady killed on stage at the Theatre Des Vampires is more like that ideal, society’s projected perfection, but we’re not talking about her right now. This woman has kind of unusual boobs, as far as what we normally see in film, these are natural boobs, not hiked up in a bra to conform to some kind of perky ideal, and this woman has an actual tummy, maybe she’s had children, maybe she’s pregnant, either way, she appears to have FLESH THAT FUNCTIONS and is natural. “Pure Creole” as Lestat says appreciatively. And she’s kind of humming to herself, doing some kind of treatment to her body, just at peace with herself and the world, it seems. Claudia wants ALL of that.
Later, we see Claudia humming (the same tune?!) as she draws from this model trying to achieve that same inner peace. Why do artists art? One reason is they’re trying to capture an ideal and/or something ephemeral, something that brings peace when you can put it down on paper. Writing can achieve that, too, as can making music, as can all the creative arts.
That’s definitely part of why I’m an artist. It’s a burning need to capture and become something through the creative act. An evolution of sorts.
You see why I’m trapped in this fandom? It touches on everything! I can never leave.
