do you think that anne rice has heard about kamijo?
People have mentioned it her at least 3x on her page (1, 2, 3), and she hasn’t responded at all so… given her stance on things she doesn’t like (she ignores them) I would guess that she doesn’t like Kamijo 😛 otherwise she would have responded.
[X] Kamijo is a huge IWTV fan and an A+ cosplayer, tho! We can enjoy him ourselves without her blessing. ^_____^
As someone who is deeply in love with VC, but behind on reading and lacking time…I’m a little embarrassed to ask…but what is Night Island? Is it an actual island? What’s the history there? Who owns an island? What do they do there? Or is it like a mini Vampire island/country, is there a king? Thanks in advance!
There’s no shame in asking for a refresher on a canon thing ;] While I can’t give you the full history (check out the Vampire Companion for that), in brief:
Night Island was built by the vampire Armand as a gift to his mortal lover Daniel Molloy, to share w/ Daniel, and it is vividly described in Queen of the Damned. I gather that it is in fact a complex built on a man-made island (which does not exist IRL sorries) off the shore of Miami, Florida, USA. Daniel describes it as such:
“And Armand, he was probably roaming the dimly lighted rooms of the villa, steps away from the tourists and the shoppers, yet utterly cut off by steel doors and white walls – a sprawling palace of floor-length windows and broad balconies, perched over white sand. Solitary, yet near to the endless commotion, its vast living room facing the twinkling lights of the Miami shore.”
“… the Night Island, Armand’s own personal creation with its five dazzling glass stories of theaters, restaurants, and shops.”

It’s meant to be a kind of universe of funtimes, where mortals can enjoy all kinds of entertainment, so it’s a big source of revenue for Armand, but more importantly, it’s where the coven gather and bond over a short period of time after a really harrowing shared adventure.
So, … what happened to Blood Paradise? omfg, I really thought she was implying she was going to write Louis and Lestat being together and… not in Atlantis

hm. I miight not be reading the new book after all… has Anne finally lost it?? this sounds crazy.. So what happened with the title Blood Paradise?
Your guess is as good as mine! I’m guessing Blood Paradise was pushed back to be published after this book. Could be that AR had this book ready and BP is not, bc planning a wedding is pretty complicated and all that!
And my guess, based on outside of tumblr discussions, for the PLROA (yes that is our new acronym gawds) book is that it will be mostly Amel telling us how awesome Atlantis was, and why it fell, and that there’s some unresolved thing for Lestat to swim run over there and fix, and then return to lounging around the castle or whatever they’re doing, bc the Proem seems to set up that everything’s been resolved and this is the report after the fact, like QOTD.

They had a very intense and rocky beginning that seemed to skip over the dating phase directly to marriage, then parenting, and then the separation for around 100 years.
I wouldn’t say they “date” in canon in the conventional sense of the word. There are certain moments they have together like that heartbreaking little scene when they met the night before Lestat’s concert (TVL), and another time when Lestat drags Louis against his will to go pester David Talbot for the first time (QOTD) 😛
You might like my #Another typical night at the Rue Royale tag for some date-y stuff.
…But in a more general sense, they do sort of Netflix and chill together. From Tale of the Body Thief:
“It’s amazing how often he came to visit me in my overheated and brilliantly illuminated rooms downtown. There he watched my giant television screen for hours. Sometimes he brought his own films for it on disk or tape. The Company of Wolves, that was one which he watched over and over… There were many other films which delighted him. Sadly, both Louis and Lestat don’t kiss and tell much when it comes to their romantic interactions. There’s alot of Lestat pining for Louis, bc (in the immortal words of @hyperbeeb) #nobody ships Louis and Lestat harder than Lestat ships Louis and Lestat…
You’d think, for one of the fandom’s main ships, there would be more of it explicitly canon. There just isn’t, sadly. Part of why it’s such a tough ship is that AR just does not let us have much in terms of fluff of them! It mostly happens off-screen. Which is where fanfic steps in to satisfy that need ;]
I have mixed feelings about Lestat. Especially with his parenting skills. I think I prefer Louis, honestly. ~ Random Vampire.
Y’know tbqh Lestat had (1) a very finicky eater and then (2) made sort of a crime against nature so you can’t 100% blame his parenting skills.
Oh and if you prefer Louis let’s not forget that all of Louis’ fledglings die.

you make all your own graphics and things right? Can you recommend tools/art programs etc that you use? I know photoshop is good but i can’t afford that :/
Graphics that are watermarked w/ my url are mines, I also use other ppl’s graphics/gifs and include the sources*.
I use a legal version of adobe photoshop to manipulate images and compress gifs, and a legal version of premiere to make video edits and pull footage for gifs.
I don’t know of free programs to recc, ppl can feel free to reblog/comment w/ suggestions on that. I’m wary of freeware bc viruses ;A;

I didn’t watermark the images above bc they’re both screencaps, even though I did some manipulation to Claudia’s drawing to flip it and take her hand out. I decide whether to watermark based on how much I’m adding to it and/or how potentially offensive it is, so when it’s not edited very much or it’s pushing the envelope of offense, I don’t watermark it.
*If all I’m doing is taking a gif someone else made from the movie and brightening it I usually don’t watermark or source it. The reason I don’t source those is that I am adding something to them, but since it’s just frames from the movie, it doesn’t really belong to either of us.
