(Lestat looks a little uncomfortable with Armand tryna put a lil tongue into it)
and also a little doodle:
(( Also I’m bad at drawing people kissing pls forgive me;; ))
And I feel like writing a fic to go along with these pictures so give me a while to do that and I’ll post it later :0 !! I haven’t written anything in a while……….
“I, myself, identify completely with Lestat. I can say Lestat is my other self, he’s my male self. He and I travel together. He does the things I wish I could do, but can’t. I love the fact that people identify with him. I worked very hard, and at the same time, it was a great joy to get a very intimate voice in the Lestat books. Lestat really sounds like he’s sitting at the table, talking to you, because that’s the way I feel about him when I’m writing–that he’s right there, telling me the story, leaning over my shoulder, telling me to get it right, pointing out things I should change, breathing down my neck, doing everything but biting me! Which he wouldn’t dare!”
My ideal cast is right heeeeere check it out… I did that fairly recently, just edited it a little tonight. (You can also check out my #vc casting tag for moar opinions on this. I need a real Navigation page it’s in the works I promise!)
As for YOUR ideas, I’m only giving them a little consideration each to keep the post concise 😉 but I think it helps, when there’s a chunk of suggestions, to see them all heaped up together as a group, bc they WILL be meshing and bouncing off each other, like ingredients in a recipe.
Harry Lloyd as Lestat: You have my vote, lookit this cutie and this smile and just *flails* I don’t watch GoT so I can’t say for sure but from the gifs I’ve seen, he has the right physical appearance to satisfy my headcanon, and he has this brightness and optimism. He seems like he could also slay 8 wolves by himself.
Mads Mikkelsen as Marius: I have trouble visualizing this choice, bc I’ve just binged a TON of Hannibal, but he is pretty fantastic so why not consider him? Also loved him in Casino Royale but that was a very non-Marius role. Physically, I’m kind of leaning towards my own choices for Marius, in my post above.
^One thing more, tho, is that Marius is very paternal and I think MM gives off a great, strong, paternal vibe.
Tilda Swinton as Gabrielle: Well, maybe! She already played a vampire, not sure that she’d be willing to play another. She was amazing in Only Lovers Left Alive. She is very skinny, tho. [X] I think a Swinton!Gabrielle would blend well with a Lloyd!Lestat.
Hit the jump for 2 moar.
Kit Harrington as Nicki: I got an Anon about this, and at the time I searched AR’s FB page re: “someone suggested Kit Harrington as Nicolas to Anne and she loved the idea,” and didn’t find it 😛 Has anyone else seen that? I know she’s a big GoT fan, but idk about Kit playing Nicolas. Kinda big, isn’t he? Maybe he’s just buff for GoT. I picture Nicolas as more slender. But KH is apparently a very good actor, and I do also approve of him shirtless so let’s get him a job somehow…
Ben Barnes as Louis: I got an Anon about him for Louis, and appearance-wise, they are similar. And looking at my comments on that post, I still think he’d be a better Nicolas, he has this sass about him. Louis’ sass is kind of understated, Nicolas’ sass is as big and bold as a slap to the face.
♛Darling, embrace the confusion, embrace the mystery!
I should tell you what to do with your life in general? I barely know what to do with my own life, so I can’t answer that for you, but I know what’s worked for me, and that’s been – as gaggingly cliché as it sounds – following my heart. Even when I lacked financial freedom, even when I was seemingly powerless. Something as small as cuddling puppies can cure boredom and restore your soul, and eventually lead to bigger things. I founded a kennel, who knows, had I lived I might have been a famously sought-after dog breeder. I would have had the finest mastiffs in France.
//ooc; as for rp, you can always pester muses, most accept some banter from a mun. There are plenty out there!
♛Yes, I do ride, it’s a thrill to race them, have that level of connection with such magnificent animals. Louis rode with me the last time… the scent of the animal on him later is always deeply nostalgic for those times we shared when horses were the primary means of travel. And he also knows it’s kind of a huge turn-on *winks*
He kept horses then, I remember a favorite he called Clemence. But we do not keep horses now. They’re daytime animals, and need daytime care… I suppose I could pay someone to keep a stable for me but it’s not the same as the love you get from caring for an animal with your own two hands, you’re always perceived as a visitor to them. So we borrow them and return them.
*sighs* Pets in general, that’s a sensitive topic for me, because Mojo was in a way my furry son, and we had to make the hard decision to give him mercy at the end of his life. Letting him go was painful, to say the least. As I’ve mentioned, however, he was a unique soul, most animals instinctively reject me by nature. It takes some effort to calm a horse enough to ride it, and even then, there are moments where it remembers it’s carrying a predator.
Most men would simply wear a simple large shirt tucked into breeches.
Some men wore linen drawers if they could afford them, which were more or less just thinner breeches.
Because of all the layers of clothing, breeches (knee-length capris) opened in the front without having to actually drop them or undo the waist. Their width at the knees often buttoned tightly to stop stockings from rolling down if the garters at mid-thigh didn’t hold.
Put on some clothes, Lestat! Those scenes where Lestat is just wearing a shirt and breeches? Technically he’s only wearing underwear! Usually even at home, a proper gentleman (like Nicolas) would wear a banyan (an East Asian-inspired robe). When going out, a gentleman would wear a tight frock coat.
All of this goes out the window for the Third Estate, who pretty much only owned two sets of clothing for their entire lives.
Yes, he is! I would bet that he currently loves to learn about Italian culture, interior decorating, and he definitely loves the fashion. I imagine he’d have several wardrobe changes during his wedding, but this suit would definitely be in the rotation LOOK IT EVEN COMES W/ A TOP HAT AND CANE:
Lestat’s resentment doesn’t necessarily last forever. He talks about sending gifts and money to his family, and he even has a dream about turning all of them into vampires whether this is really more of a nightmare is left up to our interpretation 😛
It’s strange, while it’s true that he resents his male family members, he had a kind of resentment towards his mother, too (TVL):
I wanted to
tell her a lot of things, how much I loved her particularly. But I was
cautious. She had a way of cutting me off when I spoke to her, and mingled with my love was a powerful resentment of her. All my life I’d
watched her read her Italian books and scribble letters to people in
Naples, where she had grown up, yet she had no patience even to teach
me or my brothers the alphabet. And nothing had changed after I
came back from the monastery. I was twenty and I couldn’t read or
write more than a few prayers and my name. I hated the sight of her
books; I hated her absorption in them.
It appears that he would have loved to learn about her side of the family during his childhood, but for her own reasons, she chose to withhold that information ;A;
