It’s happening. Cracked it open.

Figuratively, bc I sent my signed copy to its proper owner, but I have the e-reader version OPEN. Notes are being taken.

Don’t expect me to rail against it, what I’m looking for is good stuff. Anything from vampire physiology to clever dialogue, to good characterization, really, I am keeping an open mind and looking for the silver lining ❤

BUT, I do want to make a masterpost of links to ppl’s reviews, so please comment/reblog/

message me

w/ links so I can put together and share the most comprehensive masterpost.

Lestat, I’ve always wondered: Do different humans taste different? Like, if you happened upon some spilled blood and tasted it, could you tell who it was from provided you’d had blood from them in the past? What about other species? Can you tell if a person is a witch or a werewolf etc, by their blood?

//ooc; I don’t know enough about the science with blood, but in my opinion, yes, humans taste different to vampires based at least partially on that person’s diet, and I headcanon that they do things to affect the flavor when they feel like going to the effort, like getting their victims drunk or aroused or terrified or whatever.

If placed before him, yes, I think Lestat would have to have previously tasted that blood if he’s trying to identify it. And it would have to be somewhat fresh, I would think dead or dried blood loses a lot of its flavor (and it’s pretty unappealing to vampires anyway).

With mortals, Ricean vampires are supposed to have perfect memories, and I do think Lestat has his favorite types of mortals and/or ways to flavor them with specific drinks/foods/ or provoking them into specific emotions, and he has favorite mortals he visits repeatedly for Little Drinks (unbeknownst to them, probably).

Werewolves might have something of the wolf taste in them and that would be noticeable to a vampire as odd for a human. So yes, I think Lestat could tell if someone was a werewolf.

With witches, I think they would fall under the “if Lestat has tasted their blood before, he can identify them,” but I don’t think there is anything specific to witch blood that would let him know it’s a witch, since witches are mortals who practice a religion. I don’t know enough about witches to know if it changes their blood physically, but if it does, vampires would probably notice.

Last week at work, I saw a little girl who looked exactly how I always imagined Claudia, and was actually quite startled. She was the right size, same facial features and even had a sort of uncaring, despondent look. It was quite eerie.

I feel that way about kids I see out in the world, too, 5 year olds are not all sunshine and rainbows. Too bad you can’t say to their parent, “Hey can I take a picture with your kid to share with my fandom? She looks like the child vampire from the vampire series we love!” Yeah, not creepy at all, lol.

tfw 666 unfinished vc related art pieces but cant finish them bc own art looks always Hella Bad™ and im scared to publish them anyway haha

Dude it’s not about the art quality! Don’t do it for the notes. Do it for yourself. You might be being too hard on yourself, you may find your style not as “good” as someone else’s but that doesn’t make it Hella Bad™! It’s Hella Yours.

As with all the arts, like writing, music, drawing, etc., we all have to start at a place of less skill than we can earn over time. For me, humor can supersede technical ability. Applying humor and choosing the right expressions can be just as difficult as the technical ability, and to my taste, can be better than a really pretty portrait.

This is not the best drawing but it’s totes lolworthy:

Ppl might not Like/Reblog your stuff but it’s always great to see someone’s archive and see how they’ve improved over time.

Claudia probably had to practice for years to draw so well, and that should have been a clue to her dads that she was much older inside than she looked, bc few children would be able to draw this skillfull, especially w/o a live model in front of them well she had a dead one but she wasn’t looking at it:

Dear Lestat, I didn’t mean to offend you. It was inappropriate of me to behave thusly – I have been known to burn myself when playing with fire. That being said, I admire you for your wit and cleverness and devilish good looks, and I shan’t bother you again. You don’t have to answer this one, I just wanted you to know. And now I bid you goodnight, sweet prince. Sincerely, Helena.

//ooc; It’s okay, no offense taken, he just didn’t want to address all the points in your message, he’s not going to spend his time bickering over pseudonyms. Lestat RPers vary in their portrayal of the character, this Lestat is not a perfect warm and loving cinnamon roll to everyone and he takes jabs right in the middle of being warm and loving. It’s part of his charm. If he’s teasing you, especially about your name, when he comes up with such terrible aliases for himself, it means he’s feeling more comfortable around you, because he doesn’t do that with people he openly dislikes.
