David is going to spread a bit of love around the fandom today to try and heal some of the anger and hurt going around. There has been enough of that lately.

I don’t want to say this but… Going forward, if you are only tossing accusations or pointing fingers or being otherwise cruel David will unfollow, unwatch, ignore and block you. I don’t like being this way but the world has enough pain and suffering without a place of happiness and fun turning into a war zone.

That being said, come here my lovelies and let David show you some love. We adore and value each of you as the remarkable and unique characters that you each are.

gingerhairedimmortal: Had to delete the blog I had whose express purpose was spreading love to the fandom because of all the hate mail it got over the last 24 hours.

Which is especially sad considering I hadn’t been on that blog since Friday so it had nothing to do with any of the drama

Pain is a part of people’s lives.  I do everything I can to try to ease that pain with everyone I meet.  

In the words of my former alter-ego, Try spreading the love to the VC fandom, one ask at a time.  Please, I beg you, reach out to someone, ANYONE and tell them how wonderful they are.  

We are all fighting a losing battle and sometimes that little push an ask can bring is enough to help someone through a terrible time.

What I posted earlier was true, I love this fandom and every person in it.  I just wish I saw more love for each other on my dash than hate.

Very sad that vc-anon-fairy got hate. PEOPLE. Our fandom is small enough and has been through enough crap (at the hands of our own creator!) that we don’t need to do it to ourselves.

So you want to warn people that there are toxic people out there, and not to interact with them. Okay. The message has come across, and we’re all en garde now. I mean that sincerely. I’ve learned my lesson about making friends online… In real life I try to be the better version of myself, the cheerleader, the friend to many, that I am online, and I’m not there yet. 

Tumblr is big enough for all the RPers to have fun out here. If you don’t want to interact with another RPer, that is absolutely fine. Unfollow them, block them, don’t check out their blog, live, and let live. 

Lestat, any thoughts on this?

  • Favourite Female: Pandora. But this is really hard because I also want to say Gabrielle. 
  • Favourite Male: Marius. 
  • 3 Other Favourite Characters: Lestat, Gabrielle (yay!), 
  • 3 OTPs: Pandora/Marius, Lestat/Daniel, and also Eric/Santino because I’ve been reading old fics and now I have all the feelings. 
  • Notp: Lestat/whoever the plot revolved around in that book. It has just never been known to end well. 
  • Funniest character: Mael is just always very funny to me. He would hate that, which increases the funny. 
  • Prettiest character: Armand. The fan art cannot lie. 
  • Most Annoying Character: Sybelle and Benji. They’re a unit. 
  • Most badass character: Lestat. Credit where credit’s due. 
  • Character I’d like as my BFF: Marius. I think I’d want the book-borrowing rights and the philosophical conversations, but as a husband he’d be controlling and patronising and occasionally turn up with random people from a thousand years ago going, “We can be an OT3 now, is that cool? It’ll be cool!”
  • Female Character I’d Marry: I feel like Eleni would be an awesome person to be married to. And we could run a theatre together, this time without the killing. Well, maybe we could lure bad people to performances and kill them. 
  • Male Character I’d Marry: Daniel. The more I think about this, the more it makes sense. Lestat would be the worst husband ever; Louis and I would have one of those polite marriages arranged by parents for financial/bloodline/land reasons in Regency novels, in which we don’t really dare find out whether or not we disagree about things or what we want in bed; Marius’s faults have been covered and Armand… well, Armand is too young, forever, but also, HE EXPERIMENTS WITH BLENDERS. Whereas I think Daniel just has a healthy sense of humour about the inherent ridiculousness of being a vampire, and something in his perspective would always stay human and curious and not get overwhelmed by all that portentous shit the others tend to drown themselves in. Also, I would be so into helping him build miniature landscapes. 
  • Character I hate/dislike/least like: Sybelle and Benji are tied here.

Also I agree, Mael is unintentionally amusing and he WOULD hate that anyone thinks so. He has this earnestness and rageness, just always on the edge of (and threatening to be) breaking out a can of whoopass. Like a perpetually PMSing Thor, maybe.

Advice for VC fandom newbies?

advice? ADVICE? Um, wowww… so I usually have strong opinions on ALOT of things, especially VC-related, but this sort of knocked me speechless. For about a minute. Then I wanted to write a thesis on the subject but managed to keep it to this much.

I would suggest that:

  • If you want to RP as one of the characters, or an OC, you really have to read at least the first 3 books. And lots of fanfiction 😉
  • We have awesome fanfiction and AO3 aims to protect it.
  • Did I mention the fanfiction? It fills in the gaps that canon leaves. And it’s also just delishus.
  • The RPers on here are SO fun to follow. Try finding some in the vcdirectory! 
  • With the canon: you should have an open mind to Crazy Shit Happening

  • DUE to the Crazy Shit that Happens later in the series, you are not required to consider it all canon 😉 Alot of people don’t consider books 5-10 to be canon. Or 4-10. Or wherever they want to draw the line. That is FINE.
  • Brace yourself, because Prince Lestat is coming. No, not like that, you filthy thing! ARRIVING. 10/28/14. And, depending on its crackiness, there is going to be a divide between people who consider it to be canon and people who do not, and that is FINE. 
  • There’s a divide between People of the Page and People Off the Page, described here.
  • In general the People Off the Page are a low-drama fandom, but we do have our spats, even the illustrious human behind i-want-my-iwtv has experienced a few direct situations, and that’s just life, bc people are people, after all. I’ve accepted my share of the fault in these situations and learned from the experiences. I’m not perfect, nobody is :-

The bottom line is that it’s a fandom that only in the past year or so has really come back to life, we were in hiding bc Anne Rice disapproved of fanfic and waged war on us in the 90’s for it. Now that she seems to have lowered her weapons about that, and even praised some VC fanart – permanentglitter for example! – and with the announcement in March of the new book, well, we’re all coming out into the light and making friends and it’s been wonderful!  

I hope you see this, Anon, because we all know there’s a human behind that gray face, too, and I want to personally welcome you and anyone who’s just joining us now… we are a different kind of vampire fandom, that’s for sure.

I’ve not actually hit a milestone or anything (although I have gained a couple hundred followers in just a few months and idk why tbh).  Just felt like making another follow forever.  I’ll inevitably do another one when I hit 1k followers.

I made this account a little over two years ago.  Compared to a lot of people, I’m relatively new to RP, having only started doing it in 2011, and Louis is now the character I’ve roleplayed longest.  It’s been A+ much fun gr9.  Thank you all for being cool.

Not even an RPer but idgaf.  She makes some of the most hilarious posts.  Definitely a blog that all VC fans should be following.  And she’s seriously one of the nicest people.  Like, legit, she’s so kind to me I can’t even.
