Re: science. Yes, scientists sometimes die in their pursuits..but they are not usually murdered by the dozen. That would seem to indicate SOMEONE wants SOMETHING suppressed. You might want to have another chat with that Flannery Gilman, Monsieur.

♛*ragged sigh* Scientists die in pursuit of many things, being murdered by the dozens doesn’t seem like an especially high number to me. They choose to risk their lives, who am I to stop them from running into the fangs of death? Tigers, snakes, payara, and yes, vampires. What a beautiful variety of fangs in the savage garden!

image

I have no need to “chat with” anyone about the death rate of scientists. They choose their destiny. I stand in no mortal’s way if and when they seek death. In fact, I guide them to it if they deserve it. Who says a scientist cannot also be an evildoer of the highest degree? Some have access to poisons and have used them to climb the corporate ladder, or rid themselves of a pesky spouse or even their own flesh and blood. Is that a mortal soul deserving protected status? I think not.

What are you getting at? What’s your point? If you’re trying to provoke me into some kind of tear-filled apology or revelation, you’re barking up at the wrong vampire, mon papillon

The only revelation I’ll give is what I’ve already given. We’re real. We’re dangerous. We are unfathomably higher on the food chain than you so show some real respect.

lestat what do you think about depression and or mental illness?

♛I think they are very real and they cause suffering for those who carry them.

image

Depression is a familiar emotion for me. I saw it in my Nicolas and ignored the signs, thinking I could fill the void he carried within him because he meant absolutely everything to me. He might have even led me to believe I was helping him, but when he could no longer play along, well… that was the end of us.

I’ve known depression. I wouldn’t know if it’s the “normal” amount we’re meant to experience as opposed to the deeper kind Science has discovered; more to do with brain chemistry than anything else… but mine was a sludge that seeped out to greet me whenever I returned home as a mortal boy, to a family that ignored me at best, and physically beat me on a regular basis at worst. A terrible, sinking feeling.

I felt it when I found out about Nicolas’ death.

I felt it when my mother, my only companion, disappeared one night without leaving any way to contact her again.

I felt it when I looked into my daughter’s crystal blue eyes and no longer recognized her.

I felt it when I had been essentially murdered and left for dead. More than once. Physically and psychologically broken, cocooned in a derelict old shelter, barely able to feed, embracing the dust and the moldy floorboards for months at a time. Self-imposed solitary confinement. Prisoners at least have their meals delivered to them.

The road to recovery from all those and more has not been easy. I am still drawn back down that spiral by a phantom Vaudeville hook, always hovering just off-stage for me. Being alone, well, no one can hurt you, no one can leave you. So I understand those who choose to suffer alone.

I’m doing well now. Others in the coven tease me for my materialistic ways, and yes, this is a new pair of sunglasses. It’s less about the ownership of things and more about the ease in going out and interacting with the salespeople, the moving men, the accountants. Being out there amongst people.

Being there when Louis wants to curl up on the Italian silk couch with me under a cashmere throw. The flat screen showing us so much detail that it’s as though we truly are outside in a gondola at the magic hour, when the sunlight slants in diagonally. The waters are blue.

Life, in almost any form, is worth living, as bad as it can seem. It’s worth the effort.

hi sweetheart! hey, can you pls make a post with a link of your tags? I can’t find somethings on the blog that previously where there T.T thank you <3 <3

Omg, *facepalm* I knew this would come up at some point…

image

That is part of my blog layout revisions. There’s gonna be a BEAUTIFUL Navigation/Tags page, categorized by topic, w/ all the most popular tags bc as you may know I tend to add further commentary in the tags that probably wouldn’t be very useful in finding what you’re looking for.

What are you looking for? Then I can try to give you the tag(s) for it! You can also message me privately, if you prefer.

Hey Lestat! What would you do for a Klondike Bar?

♛Well that is a blast from the past, as they say.

I don’t eat those, must watch my figure. That, and they’re completely inedible to me.

It’s depressing that there is so much food and drink I never had the chance to try when I was mortal, many of which didn’t exist where I lived, not even by trade *sigh* And I barely had any appetite for any of it during my… little misadventure.

I have experimentally prodded and tongued at some of these things, the textures, scent, and colors of things are so intriguing! But it all ends up being repulsive.

i absolutely love you and this page and i have a question i know that vampires dont smoke but what does lestat think about smoking and cigarettes?

Thank you so much! And I love YOU, random citizen ;D

Re: Cigarettes:

Lestat quite enjoys smoking.

He likes to do it to pester Louis, who finds cigarette smoke distasteful. Lestat also does it for the oral fixation aspect. It calms him to have a cigarette to fidget with, and it gives him a reason to carry a cool lighter around.

Louis dislikes smoking bc he has a much stronger sense of smell. The Scent Gift, if you will and yet, he doesn’t mind sitting around in sewers in the movie… maybe he’s punishing himself extra when he was doing that…

Also:

  • Lestat has perfected the art of smoke-rings, too.
  • Cloves are also something Lestat likes, for their scent.
  • You didn’t ask this specifically but I was thinking about it: marijuana and other smoked drugs have to be decanted in the blood of their victims for it to have any effect on them, but that doesn’t apply to cancer. Conveniently, vampire physiology setup rejects tumorous growths but accepts hallucinogenics!

So we’re gonna get a tv show??? when?

It’s actually “a vision for a trilogy of Vampire Chronicles films” and possibly “a spinoff television series to explore all the side characters and their back stories.”

@firelight-fading linked us to an article w/ the director Josh Boone a month ago about it, here’s the piece you’re asking about:

Personally, I’m willing to wait for quality. We’ve waited this long, we can wait a little longer. I know we all have mixed feelings on this, since our epic betrayal w/ QOTD (but even then some ppl do enjoy that movie, surprisingly) but let’s try to be cautiously optimistic *u*

And BY THE WAY, just bc the cover of the script had “Interview with the Vampire” as the title for this project, that doesn’t mean he’s redoing that movie exactly.

I think we’ll be getting the Interview with the Vampire Lestat, this time around.

Boone has to incorporate at least some of Louis’ story, and then get the ending back on canon track, bc movie!IWTV ended w/ Lestat and Daniel driving off into the sunrise*. Lestat was basically giving Daniel the choice to join him.

Keep an eye on my #VC News tag, that’s where I keep updates on this.

*If that ship (Lestat/Daniel) were to sail, then alot of canon after that would have to be reworked.

You’re like the purest cinnamon pie. ❤

A whole pie??! Awww thank u!

I heard that IWTV wasn’t supposed to have a sequel/be a series. Which is why QOTD was released so much later. have u heard anything about that?

Whether you mean the movie or book series, it’s true that VC began its life as a short story which AR expanded into the first novel [X]. After it received so much positive feedback, there was a sequel, and then another, and then another, and here we are with a whole series!

The IWTV movie took something like 20 yrs in production and talks and film industry issues before it could finally get made. The homosexuality and the whole pseudo-pedophilia edge (Louis biting Armand’s Denis, Claudia in general) also made the story and casting extremely difficult.

At one point, I think Tom Cruise had the rights, and was down for making a sequel to IWTV, but I think the homophobic backlash pretty much turned him off the project 😦 It just seemed to ruin any sequels from happening for awhile.

Movie!QOTD was released in 2002, and iirc, doesn’t have much of the controversial issues that were in movie!IWTV, and is almost a stand-alone story due to how much it distorted canon, but some ppl really love it and find it nostalgic anyway!

^Akasha bc of reasons.

Hey! What do you think about Gwendoline Christie as Gretchen?

Sure! Why not? What a cool idea to have someone as stunning as she is, and also as muscular and kick-ass, for this person to want to devote all their strength and love, more like a force of nature than a mere person, into giving to others in the missions? POWER NUN.

Her lids were heavy and smooth over her downcast eyes. Like a Grecian woman painted by Picasso, so simple she seemed, large-boned and fine and strong. Had anybody ever kissed her nun’s mouth?

– Lestat, Tale of the Body Thief

^[fandom fave for mortal!Lestat, Sendhil Ramamurthy; and Gwendoline Christie for Gretchen.][I ship it]

“Help me and you help the devil,” I whispered.

“So you told me,” she said.

…”What a lovely face you have. What is your name?“

“Gretchen.”

“You’re a nun, aren’t you, Gretchen?”

“How did you know that?”

“I could tell. Your hands, for one thing, the little silver wedding band, and something about your face, a radiance- the radiance of those who believe. And the fact that you stayed with me, Gretchen, when the others told you to go on. I know nuns when I see them. I’m the devil and when I behold goodness I know it… The devil needs you. The devil’s crying. He wants you to hold his hand. You’re not afraid of the devil, are you?”

“Not if he requires an act of mercy. Sleep now. They’re coming to give you another shot. I’m not leaving. Here, I’ll bring the chair to the side of the bed so you can hold my hand.”

– Lestat & Gretchen, Tale of the Body Thief
