Today Facebook played âI know what you did last spring summerâ and reminded me what I did on May 29th but 4 years ago. I am  so gratefulâŚ
Ok and this is what I did. Honestly, I completely forgot about it. And yes, nothing has changed in this departmentâŚ
BUT letâs make something clearâŚTom Cruise was brilliant as Lestat. đ
I  reposted this status on my wall, because of course I  got nostalgic and I am lestatized heavily. We had a lovely conversation with friends there.Â
It PAINS me that Rutger Hauer didnât play Lestat back then. Just look at him, god damn. *thousand-yard stare*
^Agreed. VERY PAIN. Forever mourn that Rutger Hauer was too old when they were finally ready to make IWTV. The book came out in ‘76, and the movie languished in production hell until it finally started filming in ’93-’94 and like afg;huljl;!?kflifiimsfifghtl! *strangled anguish noises*Â
Travis Fimmel also has a lot of Lestatuesque potential in him… Even Stuart Townsend did the best he could with the trainwreck he was given (who do I blame his accent on? Probably the director). At least Townsend had the right build, I’ll give him that. It’s another tough thing to achieve; Lestat would have been athletically muscular from all the running and hunting in the Auvergne, and then the acrobatics in Paris. Not a bodybuilder level of muscular. Plus he was like 21, remember.
BUT! YES! letâs make something clearâŚTom Cruise was brilliant as Lestat. đ
Awwww *u* such high compliments! Much thank. Very appreciate. THIS IS FOR YOU bc u know they totally roleplay too:
gairidâs headcanon is the inspiration for the shoes ;]
The short answer is:
Which includes RP. You wanna RP? DO IT. We can always use more canon (and OC!) VC characters. Join in! Iâm so sporadic with it, I wish I could devote more time to RP than I do but I have this daily chore thing i do called a âjob,â very time-consuming, really cuts into my fandom experience grrrrrrâŚ
You want some more? Hit the jump.
Letâs do this in bullet points, shall we?
AR waged war on fanfic in the mid 90â˛s. It was ugly. It drove the fandom underground and made fanfic very hard to find. Frowny face D:
We try not to tag her in discussions of fanfic or RP, basically, we donât try to provoke her by making our RP or caches of VC fanfic known. Especially on Facebook, where sheâs very active and might see it (and letâs not send her any links to fanfic or RP, etc.) Â
Sheâs never seemed to have an issue with RP, specifically. Maybe bc itâs not full-blown fic, and is collaborative? Noone knows. Maybe sheâs not aware of it.Â
On a side topic, she seems to enjoy some fanart, sheâs even publicly said she loves garamaâs work (I donât have the proof rn, but I remember it).
Currently, she doesnât seem to have an issue with fanfic. She hasnât made a negative public thing about it other than this:
ââŚin 2012, Metro reported that Rice has taken a milder stance on the issue: âI got upset about 20 years ago because I thought it would block me,â she said. âHowever, itâs been very easy to avoid reading any, so live and let live. If I were a young writer, Iâd want to own my own ideas. But maybe fan fiction is a transitional phase: whatever gets you there, gets you there.â â
Anything else I have on this subject is in my #war on fanfic tag, and I do try to keep it updated (sometimes other things bleed into that tag, like the ebook-tree.com/.net massive shitstorm around 4/2015)
TL;DR: She seems to have mellowed over time about it, so we can do it, but, just fanwork & play responsibly â¤
It may not look like it, but I try not to get too offensive to her. As difficult as it can sometimes be, we have to admit she did create these characters that have brought us all together, for which Iâm endlessly grateful.

Alright *shoves Lestat aside* to answer your question: How to pronounce Louis de Pointe du Lac: youâre lucky I took French in high school which has been EVER so useful to me in my adult life. NOT.
Louis: âLoo-weeâ, with less emphasis on the âweeâ part.
de:Â âdih,â means âfromâ in French.
Pointe: âPwanâ with almost no emphasis on the ân,â means  âtip.â
du: âdue,â means âof.â
Lac: âLack,â means, âlake.â
BRING IT ALL TOGETHER! Emphasis on Pointe and Lac bc of reasons.
