Okay but like Brett Scallions for Lestat, and let me tell you that this man can SING, and he has unbelievable stage presence. Also, intensely hot.
I saw him in 1996 (I think?). He was/is the lead singer for Fuel, and they were opening for 3 Doors Down, and he was WAY more of a performer than the entirety of 3DD. He CLIMBED THE SCAFFOLDING TO TAKE A SELFIE WITH SOMEONE ON THE BALCONY. Very #Lestatuesque thing to do.
In the beginning of the show he warned the audience: “I spit alot, I’ll try not to spit on you, but just so you know, first rows are splash zone.” I was further back, near the middle of the audience. For the most part he turned to the side to spit, but occasionally, did spit on the audience. They seemed to like it.
Today Facebook played “I know what you did last spring summer” and reminded me what I did on May 29th but 4 years ago. I am so grateful…
Ok and this is what I did. Honestly, I completely forgot about it. And yes, nothing has changed in this department…
BUT let’s make something clear…Tom Cruise was brilliant as Lestat. 😉
I reposted this status on my wall, because of course I got nostalgic and I am lestatized heavily. We had a lovely conversation with friends there.
It PAINS me that Rutger Hauer didn’t play Lestat back then. Just look at him, god damn. *thousand-yard stare*
^Agreed. VERY PAIN. Forever mourn that Rutger Hauer was too old when they were finally ready to make IWTV. The book came out in ‘76, and the movie languished in production hell until it finally started filming in ’93-’94 and like afg;huljl;!?kflifiimsfifghtl! *strangled anguish noises*
Travis Fimmel also has a lot of Lestatuesque potential in him… Even Stuart Townsend did the best he could with the trainwreck he was given (who do I blame his accent on? Probably the director). At least Townsend had the right build, I’ll give him that. It’s another tough thing to achieve; Lestat would have been athletically muscular from all the running and hunting in the Auvergne, and then the acrobatics in Paris. Not a bodybuilder level of muscular. Plus he was like 21, remember.
BUT! YES! let’s make something clear…Tom Cruise was brilliant as Lestat. 😉
Thanks! *u* You want my opinion on cosplay? Hmmmm *cracks knuckles*
Cosplay, for me, isn’t just about the looks, it’s also in the attitude. So if someone’s eyes aren’t the shade as described in the book it’s not a dealbreaker. I think I prefer silly/parody cosplays because it’s so hard to achieve the serious dramatic quality one gets with the added $$$, experienced professionals of cinematography, costume design, lighting, etc., that the film industry relies on when making films. When you aim for silly/parody, it’s truly more about the performance than the physical look.
That said, here’s an example I like of everyman as Lestat:
I think it works! Looking at his other pics, he’s really gone to great lengths to recreate scenes/relationships, and he’s got good Lestatuesque body language and attitude.
As for the Louis, yeah, in most of the pics he seems #ooc, but I think ^this expression is excellent! He’s got the “Lestat omfg STOP” just under his dignified veneer. Nice sharp French features, great outfit, looks like the right age. He could even work as Nicolas. If only this guy worked as well in his front angle as his profile *siiiigh*.
Melodysknight as Lestat gets massive points for also playing the IWTV pieces.
I have a cosplay tag if you want more, but for now (in no special order):
Aaaaand have a terrible Louis cosplay by Daniel Tosh, but I don’t think he was going for accuracy (had to include at least one more male cosplayer here, what can I say, female cosplayers just seem to do it better!):
