@xxxscarletblackxxx submitted: Bonjour, don’t know if you have ever seen this, but it’s the Hungarian cover of IWTV and I think it’s just so pretty I had to share it.^-^
^LOOKIT THIS PPL! I dig it. Looks like it was influenced by movie!IWTV, from that scene where Lestat has to kill TWO ladies since he has such a picky eater for a fledgling… Now I want to hear the title and some VC quotes read aloud in Hungarian… @xxxscarletblackxxx, can you do this for us?
Concept: an immortal who doesn’t shy away from photos or paintings. Draws self portraits on cave walls. Photobombs everything with a pout and a suave pose. Commissions numerous portraits of themself as a literary Romantic before faking their death. Tries to be at least slightly famous every time they have a new identity. Creates a conspiracy blog linking all their past photos together before mysteriously disappearing in mysterious circumstances. Mysteriously. Usually only disappears for 10 to 20 years after “"dying”“ before making another appearance. Everyone else in the immortal community lowkey hates them. “Ah, fuck. You’ll never guess who’s resurfaced again.” “Fucking… Dave?” “Fucking Dave.”
Wanted to do a painterly illustration of Armand from Vampire Chronicles. I think the scene from his mortal days where he’s whipped and then… the stuff that happens… has all these unexplored layers.
Regret, reparations, the mixing of pleasure and pain and the guilt of seeing yourself as a victim- whether you see pain in your life as fate. Anyway, I love Armand’s character and his outbursts have always been fascinating!
I’d like to imagine that this scene is a vision he’s given himself. Going back to Venice and destroying it while his backside stings from lashes and the blood chills as it trickles downwards. A sheepish curl of his hand in his hair. The expression we cannot see. The hand clenching the beloved color of his master, maker, lover, etc.
BEAUTIFUL. Beautiful in the way that it’s a very delicate subject and I feel like @superhiki captured it with such tenderness and dignity… as @gothiccharmschool put it, re: Crimson Peak: “as my definition of goth/gothic is looking for “beauty and wonder in dark or unsettling places”.” (X)and this is an example of that for me *applauds*
we’ve been in development hell before… and squeed before… and were left disappointed before… CRY, RINSE, REPEAT, MANY MANY TIMES but for some reason (?) I get the feeling that things really are happening and they’re in the hands of capable ppl so WE’LL SEE.
Mostly the same information as the Looper article with a few added tidbits.
“It is undeniable that Anne Rice has created the paradigm in which all vampire stories are measured against. The rich and vast world she has created with The Vampire Chronicles is unmatched and sophisticated with 90’s Gothic undertones that will be perfectly suited to captivate audiences, … We are thrilled to collaborate with Anne, Christopher, and the team at Anonymous Content on this epic series.” – Amy Powell, President, Paramount TV.
IT’S maybepossiblylike 2 molecules closer to HAPPENING!
“Together with our partners at Paramount Television, we are embarking on a fantastic journey with Anne and Christopher Rice to bring Anne’s unparalleled imagination to television at the moment when the medium is experiencing a global apex in the demand for the most outstanding, exciting, and heightened premium dramatic programming”, says Anonymous Content’s David Kanter. “The Vampire Chronicles, in its entirety, is not only a phenomenally complex universe of storytelling, it is also a world-wide readership whose connections to the books and their author are deep and abiding. It is a tremendous responsibility to help bring the books to television, and we are thrilled to have this opportunity.”
^OK IT SOUNDS LIKE THIS PEOPLE ARE LEGIT VC FANS. That’s a requirement, in my mind. Are they fan enough to help pull off a mostly faithful-to-canon adaptation? As my Dad says, ‘the proof is in the pudding.’
I checked out the Anonymous Content website, and they seem to be able to pull off a wide range of projects. From commercials to music vids to movies like the Revenant, which I still haven’t seen but I’ve heard great things about, I think they have a generally solid mix of glitz & glamour and dirt and grunge and intellectual stimulation and yes, even some comic relief, all things I think we need in VC. Amy Powell is right, VC is “sophisticated with 90’s Gothic undertones”, so where movie!QOTD certainly USED 90′s Gothic aesthetics, I would recommend that Paramount and Anonymous Content should watch that movie and see what parts worked, and what parts didn’t. Along with movie!IWTV and Lestat the Musical.
BTW Anonymous Content did the following which I really enjoy…
Johnny Cash’s cover of Hurt video – of the MANY reasons I love this song and video is that it has that beauty and strength in decay/decline… idk it’s gorgeous.
Anne Rice previously noted that the series likely will not touch on the events of “Interview with a Vampire,” but will instead pick up with its sequel “The Vampire Lestat.”
I’ll try to keep making fresh ones, buuuut… I bet I have some old ones you haven’t seen in my #memeything tag, and also! The #vintage meme tag has a few that inspired me to start making my own.
…..aaaaand these ppl make VC memes! Check theirs out, I might have some of their memes mixed into my #by someone else tag (in no special order):
If anyone knows of other blogs that do VC memes/memeythings, reblog/comment plz.
Why do I call them memeythings?? Well, when I started making them, I wasn’t sure if they really counted as “memes” bc “memes” as I understood them, had to be some widely-accepted joke first… text from somewhere else, so I called mine memeythings instead, bc I did some of my own “writing” for them, like this “boop your nose” one, but now it’s normal to make up your own text or grab text from anywhere and it counts as a “meme,” I think. I still like the word, tho, so I’m keeping it.
Rating: Explicit! Words: 2542 Pairing: Armand/Daniel Summary: Jerking Off with the Vampire. Supplemental Material: Was listening to Fall Apart by Death in June for most of this process.
